최근 수년간 전자책 시장은 눈에 띄는 성장을 했지만 여전히 종이책의 사용이 절대적으로 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다. 오프라인 서점에서 책을 구입하는 고객의 구매결정에는 온라인 서점의 리뷰들이 중요한 영향을 미친다. 그러나 오프라인 서점에서 온라인 서점에 존재하는 정보를 얻기 위해서 키워드 기반의 검색 방법을 쓰는 것은 사용자 경험을 악화시킨다. 이러한 불편함을 개선하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 웹 기반의 증강현실 기술을 도입한 서적 정보 열람 시스템을 제안한다. 식별된 책에 대한 관련 정보를 아마존닷컴 (amazon.com) 웹 사이트에서 가져와 책에 직접 증강한다. 또한 각 요소 별 세부 레이아웃을 잡아 책을 보고 있는 화면과 어우러질 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 오프라인 서점에서 책 정보를 얻는 것에 대한 사용자 경험을 향상 시킬 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. Although e-book market has been grown in recent years, paper book still is given a great deal of weight on the market. Many readers of online reviews significantly influence off-line purchasing decisions. However, keyword-based Search interferes with user experience in order to get online book information at the offline bookstore. To improve this, we propose web-based AR interface for searching book’s information. Book information are retrieved from amazon.com and are augmented onto target book. We also lay each book information elements out on the device screen in order to fix user’s gaze without other interactions. In this paper, we propose a method to improve user experience when books are searched at the off-line bookstore.

The difficulty of securing freshwater sources is increasing with global climate change. On the other hand, seawater is less affected by climate change and regarded as a stable water source. For utilizing seawater as freshwater, seawater desalination technologies should be employed to reduce the concentration of salts. However, current desalination technologies might accelerate climate change and create problems for the ecosystem. The desalination technologies consume higher energy than conventional water treatment technologies, increase carbon footprint with high electricity use, and discharge high salinity of concentrate to the ocean. Thus, it is critical to developing green desalination technologies for sustainable desalination in the era of climate change. The energy consumption of desalination can be lowered by minimizing pump irreversibility, reducing feed salinity, and harvesting osmotic energy. Also, the carbon footprint can be reduced by employing renewable energy sources to the desalination system. Furthermore, the volume of concentrate discharge can be minimized by recovering valuable minerals from high-salinity concentrate. The future green seawater desalination can be achieved by the advancement of desalination technologies, the employment of renewable energy, and the utilization of concentrate.
유두갑상선암의 고식적 갑상선전절제술과 내시경하 갑상선전절제술 후 부갑상선 보존율 비교분석

Purpose: Incidental parathyroidectomy is the most common and unexpected consequence of a total thyroidectomy. It can cause hypocalcemia symptoms such as muscle cramping and even seizures. We conducted this study to compare several factors including the preservation rate of parathyroid glands during both a bilateral axillo-breast approach endoscopic thyroidectomy (BABA) and a conventional open thyroidectomy (CT) for papillary thyroid carcinomas. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 299 papillary thyroid cancer patients who had a total thyroidectomy between January 2008 and December 2011. We grouped the patients into two groups: BABA (n=70) and CT (n=229). We analyzed age, tumor size, operation time, the number of preserved and removed parathyroid glands, amount and duration of seroma drainage, pain score, hypocalcemia symptoms, and serum total calcium level in both the BABA and CT groups. Results: We observed a younger age (under 45 years old) (P=0.000), smaller tumor size (P=0.000), longer operation time (P=0.000), larger amount of drainage (P=0.000), longer duration of drainage (P=0.007), and larger pain score (P=0.000) in the BABA group. Of the 70 patients that received an endoscopic thyroidectomy, we preserved all four parathyroid glands in 56 patients (78.6%). Of the 229 patients that received an open thyroidectomy, we preserved all four parathyroid glands in 141 patients (61.6%, P=0.004). Conclusion: BABA results in more extensive tissue damage over a longer period of time than CT. However, BABA was an excellent method for preserving parathyroid glands when compared with CT for thyroid carcinoma. Thus, it seems to be feasible performing BABA when it matches the indications.
