We are preparing an experiment for dark matter (WIMP) search using CsI(Tl) crystal. The detection threshold of a large CsI(Tl) crystal coupled with green extended PMTs was down to 2 keV, and the pulse shape discrimination power of the crystal shows better separation of nuclear recoil from background electron signals than NaI(Tl). With these characteristics, CsI(Tl) is another good material for WIMP search experiment. The disadvantage of CsI(Tl) is the internal background from cesium and rubicium ratioisotopes. In this report, the measurements and reduction of these ratioisotopes are described, and a perspective for the experiment is presented.

A consolidated control algorithm was developed for an engine-HMT system for tracked vehicle considering the power transmission characteristics of HMT which consists of hydro-static transmission(HST) and several planetary gear trains. Control algorithm was derived in order for the engine to run on the optimal operating line(OOL) by controlling the engine throttle opening and HST stroke. For the consolidated control of engine - HMT, engine dynamics, HST stroke dynamics were obtained as well as tracked vehicle dynamics. Also, power transmission characteristics were included by using the extended Network theory. Simulation results showed that the engine can be operated close to OOL by the consolidated control of engine- HMT except for those points requiring the large change in acceleration.<br/>

Power flow characteristics of a hydro-mechanical transmission system(HMT) were investigated for tracked vehicle. in steering. A HMT consisting of two hydrostatic pumpㆍ motors(HST), several planetary gear trains and steer differential gear was considered. In order to obtain the direction and magnitude of the power flow of the HMT, network theory for the general power transmission was used. Network model for the HMT in steering was developed, which consisted of shafts, nodes and transmission elements such as clutch, gear, etc. Power flow analysis procedure consists of two stages: (1) traction force analysis in steering, (2) power flow analysis in HMT. Torque and Speed of every transmission element of the HMT was determined from network analysis. Also, efficiency, mechanical and hydraulic power loss including HST, were obtained. In addition, the regenerative power flow resulting from steering can be studied in graphic display. The power flow analysis program(PCSTEER) developed in this work can be used as a useful design tool for the tracked vehicle with HMT.<br/>

The wind power generation system is divided by two types, horizontal axis wind turbine(HAWT) and vertical axis wind turbine(VAWT). The VAWT can be used at low wind speed, and it does not influenced by the direction of the wind. But the efficiency of the VAWT is lower than the HAWT. So, it is necessary to solve this problem. And many researchers make an effort to solve the problem. The objective of this study is to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of the vertical axis wind turbine blade, and we also compared the torque values of various type of the VAWT blades. In conclusion, the efficiency of the blade type 2 is higher than the blade type 1.

주치의에게는 암환자의 암 전이 여부가 초미의 관심사다. 암환자의 10명 중 9명이 전이암으로 사망하기 때문이다. 암의 전이 초기에 그 전이 여부를 방사선 진단법으로 가능하지 않다. 혈액을 채취하여 암의 전이 유무를 진단 하는 기술이 개발되고 있다. 이 혈중 암세포는 혈구세포 10억개당 1~100개 정도의 극히 미량이 존재하여 암세포 분리기술이 특별히 잘 개발되어야 한다. 최근 마이크로바이오칩 형태의 분리기술이 큰 기술적 진화를 보이고 있어 본고에 소개하고자 한다. 이 기술은 한 가지 큰 의미를 갖는다. 그것은 암환자의 암 전이 모니터링에 필요한 도구가 될 수 있기 때문이다. 전이암세포 검출 키트로 전이암세포를 계수 하여 환자에게 투약한 항암제가 적합한지에 대한 답을 의사는 얻을 수 있다. 전이암세포 진단용 마이크로바이오칩 기술이 기존의 영상진단법만큼 중요한 임상 수단이 될 것으로 전망된다.

백악기의 화성활동으로 인해 생성된 화산(Volcano) 칼데라 지형은 대한민국 내 약 20개소정도 분포하고 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 논문은 이들 칼데라 지형 중 경북 군위 및 영천 지역에 위치하고 있는 화산(The Hwa-San Mountain)칼데라를 관통하는 철도터널의 설계 사례이다. 과업구간에는 화산칼데라에 의해 형성된 수직 정단층인 노고산 환상단층과 가음단층계에 수반되는 우보단층, 괴산리단층 등이 있어 터널 굴착시 여러 단층과의 조우가 예상된다. 또한 지역특성상 소우지 지역으로 인근에 다수의 저수지가 분포하고, 일부 단층들은 저수지와 연결된 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 경우 터널 굴착시 단층을 통해 지속적인 지하수 유입이 가능하여 차수 그라우팅 등 보강 계획을 수립하였다. It is known that about 20 volcano calderas that are created by igneous activity during Cretaceous period are distributed in South Korea. This is a case study of railroad tunnel design through the Hwa-san caldera which is located between Gun-wi-gun and Young-cheon-si. The tunnel is expected to encounter several faults such as Nogosan ring fault, Woobo fault, Goesanri fault. In addition, there are a good many nearby reservoirs that are containing agricultural water, because this region is considered one of the lowest rainfall areas in South Korea. In this case, groundwater may steadily flow into the tunnel from faults during tunnel excavation, because some of these reservoirs are linked up to the tunnel by faults. Some reinforcement methods such as waterproof grouting was adopted to limit groundwater inflow into the tunnel.
