Currently, there are many kinds of tracked armored vehicles in service and they have encountered various environment and situations. So there are many obstacles to operate them improperly such as an engine stall. The causes of engine stall are an insufficient fueling, a mixture of air-fuel or vapor lock, and load increment which results from a rapid steering or increasing a viscosity of lubricant by low temperature. In this paper, engine stall by load increment due to a rapid steering or increasing of lubricant viscosity on tracked armored vehicles is analyzed, the ways to prevent it are applied, and their degrees of improvement are evaluated.

In this paper, causes of wear on high pressure seals for suspension are analyzed, and the result of reproduction test and verification on improved design are described. First, by performing the observation of worn surfaces and its failure analysis, the primary cause of wear on the seals are analyzed. The result of analysis shows that the main failure mechanism of wear is a fatigue wear, and test criteria for failure reproduction are set up with consideration for frequency condition, surface roughness and pressure. Durability comparison test on the condition of low amplitude and high frequency is carried out. And, it is found that the durability of wear on seals by increasing hardness of cylinder and managing for surface roughness is enhanced.

본 연구는 데이터 분석을 통해 좌측 전조등 조립체의 램프 파손 원인을 도출하고 이를 개선하기 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 우선 야전운용데이터(K-LOG)를 활용한 명사 빈도수 분석(Counting Word Frequency)을 통해 대상장비 키워드(Keyword)를 추출하였다. 이를 통해 전조등조립체가 품질이슈 사항이 있음을 확인하였고 품질개선을 수행하기 위한 연구를 진행하였다. 전조등조립체는 초기에 의심되었던 진동 수준에 따른 램프 파손은 고무 소재의 완충 패드를 적용함에도 불구하고 오히려 진동 크기가 증가되는 형태를 보였으며, 이에 따라 진동의 크기보다 진동에 따른 공진 현상을 개선 대상으로 변경하였다. 공진 현상을 파악하기 위해 운행 시 발생되는 좌측과 우측 전조등 조립체의 고유 주파수를 분석하였으며 체계장착 상태에서 인가되는 주파수를 수집하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 좌측 전조등 조립체가 상대적으로 낮은 주파수 대역에서 공진점을 갖고 있으며 이 공진 주파수는 실제 주행 조건에서 발생할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 좌측 전조등 조립체의 고유 주파수 대역을 증가시키기 위해 보호대 두께를 변경하여 체계장착시험을 수행한 결과 개선된 전조등조립체의 내구성을 향상됨을 확인하였다. 본 연구를 통해 야전환경에서 발생할 수 있는 품질 키워드를 도출함으로써 신속한 개선요소 파악이 가능함을 알 수 있다. 향후 데이터를 활용한 신뢰성 산출 및 산출되어진 신뢰성 정보를 바탕으로 군수지원 정책을 현실적으로 결정하여 즉각적인 정비 지원에도 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

During the field operation of the Korean MBT(Main Battle Tank), the multi- smoke projectile launching system failed to function. As a result of conducting analysis, it was confirm that the gear shaft of reducer was failed. Therefore, a study on improvement in impact resistance of the reducer was conducted. The reducer was improved impact resistance by changing the design and material of gear shaft. The reliability of modified reducer was investigated by finite element analysis, performance and environmental tests. As a result of analysis, a strength of the modified gear shaft was improved by about 20 times than before improvement. The results of performance and environmental test show that the modified reducer is applicable for Korean MBT under the severe conditions. The quality improvement of multi-smoke projectile launching system contributes to survivability of Korean MBT.
데이터 분석을 활용한 판스프링 내구성 개선에 관한 연구

In this study, quality keywords of frequent mention of failures were extracted by analyzing the field operational data of main battle tanks recorded for about 5 years. As a result of the data analysis, the leaf spring assembly of the crew hatches corrosion and failure was frequently occurred. FEA(Finite Element Analysis) and tests were performed to analyze the cause of the failure, and it was confirmed that durability of the leaf spring was insufficient. Therefore a design modification study was conducted to improve durability of the leaf spring, and FEA and durability tests demonstrated the improvement. As a result, the durability of leaf spring was improved at least 3.3 times compared to before improvement. This study will contribute to suggesting the use of data analysis in the defense area and improving the operability of the main battle tanks.
궤도차량의 동적 피칭에 미치는 고정식 핀(Fin) 및 부력장치의 영향

In this study, the effect of stationary fin and buoyancy devices on dynamic pithing of the tracked vehicle was investigated. For this work, the stationary fin and buoyancy devices were installed in front of body and then pitching variation was measured when rapidly reducing the vehicle speed in water operation. According to the results of measuring the freeboard at each case, when only fin was installed, the effect on freeboard of tracked vehicle in water was negligible. However, when buoyancy devices were installed, front freeboard was approximately increased by about 20~25 mm and rear freeboard was decreased by about 10~15 mm per each addition of 100 kg buoyancy device. Based on the calculation result of pitching decrease rates, it was found that the pitching variation was decreased approximately 12.3 % by fin installation and approximately 2 % by installation of each 100 kg of buoyancy device. The case in which only fin installation was made showed the best efficiency in decreasing pitching variation of the tracked vehicle in water compared to the other cases.
