한국의 종교와 한국인 : A PROLEGOMENON TO A KOREAN HISTORY OF RELIGIONS

In general, previous research on the Korean history of religions had the tendency to focus on historical changes of individual religions. There has been no comprehensive study on the Korean history of religions which considered various religions in terms of both cross-sectional profiles of various religions and the historical transmission of religion over time. This paper attempts such a methodological approach. The writer has attempted this approach in a previous study [Chung Chin-Hong, Hangook Jonggyo Munhwa-eoi Jeongae (Historical Development of Korean Religions), Seoul, Jipmundang, 1986]. This paper reviews the process of Korean indigenous religions incorporating the ‘newness’ of foreign religions with a view to demonstrating the fact that such process has molded a sense of syncretism in the religious disposition of the Korean people. Their fundamental religious ethos is oriented towards experience of heaven and quest for power. The former strives for the normative ideal, whereas the latter seeks actual utility. The interlocking conflicts and co-existence of these two notions have contributed to the development of what is a uniquely Korean religious experience, while serving as a filtering process in the acceptance of alien religions. The introduction of a foreign religion would infuse newness into the religious culture which the indigenous religions lacked. The mythos of Buddhism, the natura of Taoism, the logos of Confucianism and the theos of Christianity are examples of this newness. A foreign religion becomes relevant to the needs of Korean society by emphasizing specific subjects. In the process, adoption of a religion by the Korean religious culture depends on the dictates of the times and inter-religious conversions are freely exercised. It is also possible to develop an absolute faith in the imported religion. On the negative side, this syncretistic religious style may be attributed to market-oriented pragmatism. On the other hand, this attitude can be interpreted as indicating the creative motivation of the Korean religious culture. Korean religious syncretism has been undergoing continuous evolution. It is difficult, however, to make a prediction about for how long this syncretism will last or how it will evolve in the future. Perhaps more emphasis should be placed on the interpretive understanding of data rather than actual changes under the current situation where changes are inevitable.

In this study, for the treatment efficiency of the IGF process for the treatment of produced water (PW) discharged from the oil sands plant, the bench-scale oil sands plant PWT package was designed, manufactured and evaluated to verify the efficiency of the process. The microbubble generation efficiency and microbubble size change according to the circulation pump pressure were observed, and the correlation between influent concentration and temperature, residence time and oil-water separation performance was analyzed.
문학적 상상의 구원론적 함의 : 멀치아 엘리아데의 「만툴리사 거리」 를 중심으로

One of the critical issues in modern literary criticism is the relationship between literature and religion. Even a rapid scanning of some of the work which has been done in this area will quickly disclose the broad range of critical theory and method which characterizes it. However, from at least one perspective, the religious project and the literary project may be seen to have followed remarkably similar lines of development in the modern period. Religious thought may be considered to illuminate what has been the destiny of the literary imagination while religion seems to be illumined by that of the literary imagination. For, by virtue of their passage through the same essential ordeal, both together--the religious symbol and the literary imagination-may be found involved in a common attestation about the peculiar challenge which is presented by our own late stage of modern experience. This article deals with the issue analyzing Eliade's Pe strada Mantuleasa (Mantuleasa street) . There are four central themes in the novel : time, love, death, and hooligans. Each of these literary imaginations, when understood in its essentials, can suggest the possibilities of religious symbols corresponding the recovery of illud tempos, a temptation of sacred, a glorious return to Oneness, and authenticity. Considered from this perspective, the literary imagination is but a unique soteriology. This observation should make clear that every work of literature presupposes for its very existence a belief in a commitment to vital possibility of salvation. And there is in our experience of every work of literature something analogous to the religious experience as ultimate. This primal intuition then becomes the organizing principle for the hypothetical structure which a work is to be turned out. It, in turn, becomes the interpretive key which will unlock a work's special logic.

The purpose of this study is to immobilize growth factors and coat titanium surfaces using phosphonatedUV-curable low-molecular-weight chitosan (Az-P-LM-O-CMC). The structure of the final product wasassessed with FT-IR, 31P-NMR, and GPC. The coating of Az-P-LM-O-CMC on titanium was evaluated bymeasuring water contact angle. Cytotoxicity testing was conducted to determine biocompatibility, andmicropatterning was used to check protein immobilization. From the BMP-2 release tests, it wasobserved that the rate of BMP-2 release could be controlled by multilayer coatings. ALP assay and Ca2+assay were carried out to evaluate drug immobilization and release effects.
