본(本) 연구(硏究)에서는 침지형(浸漬型) 생물막(生物膜) 반응조(反應槽)에서 온도(溫度)의 변화(變化)가 미생물(微生物) 성상(性狀)과 처리효율(處理?率)에 미치는 영향(影響)을 구명(究明)하였다. 침지형(沈漬型) 생물막(生物膜) 반응조(反應槽)에서 온도와 매체충전율(媒體充塡率)을 변화시켜 얻어진 연구결과를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 생물막(生物膜) 밀도(密度), 부착미생물량(附着微生物量), 생물막(生物膜)두께는 온도(溫度)와 매체충전량(媒體充塡量)의 변화에 상당한 영향을 받는다. 2. 반응조 내의 총(總) 미생물(微生物) 중 부유미생물(浮遊微生物)이 차지하는 비율은 약 10-50%로 부유미생물(浮遊微生物)이 기질제거(基質除去)에 관여하는 역할을 무시할 수 없음이 입증되었다. 3. 온도와 총 미생물농도에 따른 BOD 제거효율(除去?率)을 나타내는 관계식을 유도할 수 있었다. 4. 본 공법(工法)은 온도변화에 강(?)한 편으로, Van't Hoff-Arrhenius 변형식(變形式)을 이용하여 구(求)한 온도보정계수(溫度補正係數)는 1.042이었다. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of temperature on microbial characteristics and treatment efficiency in aerated submerged biofilm process. From the results of the research, conclusions were derived as following: 1. Biofilm density, attached biomass and biofilm thickness were $30-42mg/cm^3$, $1.2-2.7mg/cm^2$ and $380-690{\mu}m$, respectively. These were greatly affected by the variation of temperature ($5-20^{\circ}C$) and packing ratio(45-90%). 2. The ratio of suspended biomass to the total biomass in the reactor was in the range of 10 to 50 % in accordance with the variation of temperature and packing ratio. Therefore, the portion of suspended biomass cannot be neglected. 3. BOD removal efficiency increased as either temperature or biomass(suspended and attached) concentration increased. 4. The aerated submerged biofilm process appeared to be less affected by temperature variation and the estimated temperature correction coefficient of the Van't Hoff-Arrhenenius equation was 1.042.
The Effect of Nitric Oxide Donor, SNAC on Motor Functional Recovery of Reperfused Peripheral Nerve

Purpose: To investigate the effects of nitric oxide (NO) donor, S-nitroso-N-acetylcysteine (SNAC) on the motor functional recovery of a reperfused rat sciatic nerve. Materials and Methods: Seventy-eight rats were divided into the following 3 groups: SNAC, methylprednisolone nerve underwent 2 hours of ischemia followed by 90 minutes of reperfusion. The results were evaluated using a walking track test, muscle contractile test and an examination of the muscle weight and histology at various reperfusion periods. Results: There was a significant improvement in the sciatic functional index (SFI) and contractile force of the SNAC-treated group compared with the MP and PBS groups. The SNAC group showed earlier improvement in the SFI measurement between days 7-28. The contractile force and muscle weight of the extensor digitorum longus muscle began to be restored earlier in the SNAC group after day 11, while the others showed progressive atrophy until day 21. The histology examination revealed less severe degeneration and earlier regeneration of axons in the SNAC-treated rats than the other groups. Conclusion: The supplementation of NO is effective in promoting the motor functional recovery of a reperfused peripheral nerve and has the potential to replace or augment steroids as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of nervous system ischemia/reperfusion injuries.
