First Record of the Genus Stirocorsia (Orussidae: Hymenoptera) from Korea

The family Orussidae is a unique parasitoid group belonging to the suborder Symphyta. Members of Orussidae are rare and only a species, Orussus coreanus Takeuchi have been previously recorded from Korea. In this study, we report another species, Stirocorsia tosensis (Tosawa and Sugihara, 1934), for the first time from Korea. The adult characteristics of the species with illustrations and a species key to the Korean Orussidae are provided.
Effects of Molecular Configuration of Copolymer Gelators on Performance of Polymer Gel Electrolytes

In this study, we investigate the correlation between the molecular configuration of copolymer gelators and the performance of the resulting ion gels by comparing two types of copolymers, poly(ethyl methacrylate-ran-styrene) (PEMA-r-PS) and disordered poly(ethyl methacrylate-block-styrene) (PEMA-b-PS). To ensure an accurate comparison, other factors related to gel properties such as molecular weight, PS fraction, and gel composition were fixed. When blended with 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethyl sulfonyl) imide, both gelators based ion gels showed similar ionic conductivities. On the other hand, the PEMA-r-PS-based gel exhibited a higher elastic modulus (~220 kPa) than that (~103 kPa) of the PEMA-b-PS-based gel. To reveal the origin of the higher elastic modulus of PEMA-r-PS based gel, we studied the structures of ion gels using small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) experiments. Moreover, we demonstrated PEMA-r-PS-based gels to electrochromic devices (ECDs) and strain sensors.
Three New Species of the Genus Kleidotoma (Insecta: Hymenoptera: Figitidae: Eucoilinae) from Korea

We describe three new species of the Genus Kleidotoma (Figitidae: Eucoilinae) from Korea. They are K. convexitas n. sp., K. debilifovea n. sp. and K. longirudis n. sp. A key to all Korean Kleidotoma species including three new species herein are given. Descriptions and illustrations of diagnostic characters of three new species are also provided. This experiment was carried out to investigate the optimum planting density in low fertilizing cultivation of machine transplanting in rice field of Honam Agricultural Research Institute, NICS for 2004~2005. Sobibyeo which belongs to medium maturing variety and Nampyeongbyeo which belongs to medium-late maturing variety were transplanted on May 30. In this experiment, there was no significant difference in heading date between planting density and nitrogen fertilization rate, and heading dates were August 8 in Sobibyeo, and August 14 in Nampyeongbyeo respectively. In relation to lodging character, lodging index was high where the nitrogen fertilization rate and planting density were high. As planting density increases, panicle number per m2 increased irrespective of nitrogen fertilization rate. When nitrogen was 6 kg/10a, rice yield of Sobibyeo was more where planting density was 90 hill per 3.3 m2, and that of Nampyeongbyeo was more where planting density was 80 hill per 3.3 m2. When nitrogen was 9 kg/10a, rice yield of Sobibyeo was more where planting density was 100 hill per 3.3 m2, and that of Nampyeongbyeo was more where planting density was 110 hill per 3.3 m2. Head rice rate of brown rice was higher when planting density increased, and was higher at 6 kg/10a nitrogen rate than 9 kg/10a nitrogen rate in all varieties. 최근 우리나라의 농업여건은 WTO 재협상으로 거의 모든 농산물이 수입개방 되지 않으면 안 된 실정으로 쌀도 예외는 아니어서 2006년부터 식용으로 의무 물량을 수입하게 되어있다. 이에 국제경쟁력 제고를 위하여 고품질 쌀 생산과 생산비 절감은 필수불가결한 과제이다. 이에 대비하여 우리나라에서는 2000년대에 들어서면서부터 고품질 쌀 생산의 필요성이 강조되어 질소시비량이 많이 감소되고 있으나 아직도 농가의 질소시비량은 표준시비량인 10a당 11 kg을 초과하는 실정이다(농림부, 2002). 우리나라에서 지금까지 질소 시비에 대한 연구는 주로 생육이나 수량 반응을 본 것이며, 품질은 외관품위 중심으로 일부 연구가 수행되어 왔다(오 등, 1991; 박과 이, 1988). 미질과 관련된 연구를 보면 질소시비량이 증가함에 따라 완전미율은 뚜렷하게 감소되고, 쌀 단백질 함량은 유의하게 증가되며(강 등, 1997; 이 등, 2003), 아밀로스 함량은 질소시비량이 증가함에 따라 증가하는 경향이나 처리간의 차이는 적다고 하였다(이 등, 2003). 따라서 본 연구에서는 수입개방에 대응하여 쌀 품질 고급화를 위하여 질소시비량과 품종에 따른 적정 재식밀도를 구명하고자 시험한 결과를 보고하고자 한다.

Purpose Capmatinib, an oral MET kinase inhibitor, has demonstrated its efficacy against non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with MET dysregulation. We investigated its clinical impact in advanced NSCLC with MET exon 14 skipping mutation (METex14) or gene amplification. Materials and Methods Patients who participated in the screening of a phase II study of capmatinib for advanced NSCLC were enrolled in this study. MET gene copy number (GCN), protein expression, and METex14 were analyzed and the patients’ clinical outcome were retrospectively reviewed. Results A total of 72 patients were included in this analysis (group A: GCN ≥ 10 or METex14, n=14; group B: others, n=58). Among them, 13 patients were treated with capmatinib (group A, n=8; group B, n=5), and the overall response rate was 50% for group A, and 0% for group B. In all patients, the median overall survival (OS) was 20.2 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 6.9 to not applicable [NA]) for group A, and 11.3 months (95% CI, 8.2 to 20.3) for group B (p=0.457). However, within group A, median OS was 21.5 months (95% CI, 20.8 to NA) for capmatinib-treated, and 7.5 months (95% CI, 3.2 to NA) for capmatinib-untreated patients (p=0.025). Among all capmatinib-untreated patients (n=59), group A showed a trend towards worse OS to group B (median OS, 7.5 months vs. 11.3 months; p=0.123). Conclusion Our data suggest that capmatinib is a new compelling treatment for NSCLC with MET GCN ≥ 10 or METex14 based on the improved survival within these patients.
