From the aerial parts of Glochidion eriocarpum, a new triterpene, glochieriol (1), three new triterpenoid saponins, glochieriosides C - E (2 - 4), together with four known triterpenes (glochidonol, glochidiol, lupeol, and 3-epi-lupeol) were isolated by using combined chromatographic separations. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data, including FTICR-MS, 1D and 2D NMR.

Effect of Heat-treatment Temperature on the Formation of ε-Fe2O3 Nanoparticles Encapsulated by SiO2
Trinh Nguyen Thi,Phuoc Cao Van,Kirakosyan Artavazd,Chanyong Hwang,Jihoon Choi,Hyojin Kim,Jong-Ryul Jeong 한국자기학회 2023 Journal of Magnetics Vol.28 No.3
ε-Fe2O3 has received attention with particular interest because of its large coercive field at room temperature, high-frequency millimeter-wave absorption, and the coupling of its magnetic and dielectric properties. This work investigated the effect of heat treatment on the formation of ε-Fe2O3/SiO2 composites fabricated using reverse-micelle and sol-gel methods. The heating process was performed at various temperatures to figure out the optimal conditions for acquisition of the ε-Fe2O3 phase, which exhibits the largest coercive field among the Fe oxides. The sample treated at 1,075 °C had the highest percentage of ε-Fe2O3 phase, with a coercivity (HC) of 21.57 kOe measured at room temperature that reached a maximum of 23.7 kOe at 230 K. The measurement of the magnetization-temperature (M-T) curve for this sample also reveals the characteristic magnetic transition associated with ε-Fe2O3 within the temperature range of 40-150 K. The crystal structure of ε-Fe2O3 was confirmed using X-ray powder diffraction. Transmission electron micrographs revealed a broad size distribution of iron oxide nanoparticles ranging from 12 to 22 nm. The findings indicate that ε-Fe2O3 is a promising candidate with high electromagnetic-wave absorption capacity that is appropriate for high-speed wireless communication applications.
Osteopontin contributes to late-onset asthma phenotypes in adult asthma patients
Hoang Kim Tu Trinh,Thuy Van Thao Nguyen,Seo-Hee Kim,Thi Bich Tra Cao,Quoc Quang Luu,김승현,박해심 생화학분자생물학회 2020 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.52 No.-
Patients with late-onset asthma (LOA) have poor clinical outcomes. Osteopontin (OPN) is associated with airway inflammation and remodeling. To investigate the role of OPN in LOA compared to early-onset asthma (EOA), serum OPN levels were compared between 131 adult asthma patients (48 LOA and 83 EOA patients) and 226 healthy controls (HCs). BALB/c mice were sensitized with ovalbumin with/without polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (poly(I:C)) from week 6 (A6 mice) or week 12 (A12 mice) after birth. Airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR), bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), cell counts, histology, and Spp1 expression were assessed. The levels of OPN, transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1), chitinase 3-like 1 (CH3L1), and interleukin (IL) 5 were measured by ELISA. The expression of Smad3 phosphorylation and tissue transglutaminase 2 (TGM2) was evaluated by Western blot. The serum OPN levels were significantly higher in asthma patients than in HCs and in LOA patients than in those with EOA (P < 0.05) and were positively correlated with serum TGF-β1 and CH3L1 (r = 0.174, r = 0.264; P < 0.05). A12 mice showed elevated AHR with increased levels of OPN/TGF-β1/IL-5 in BALF and Spp1 compared to A6 mice. Poly(I:C) induced remarkable TGF-β1, CH3L1, Th2 cytokine, and OPN levels in BALF and the expression of phosphorylated Smad3, TGM2, and Spp1 in the lungs. OPN triggered TGF-β1/Smad3 signaling in the lungs, which was suppressed by dexamethasone and anti-IL5 antibody. In conclusion, aging and exposure to viral infections may induce OPN release and consequently modulate inflammation and TGF-β1/ Smad3-related remodeling, contributing to the development of LOA.
Factors Affecting Intention to Purchase Green Products in Vietnam
NGUYEN, Thi Kim Chi,NGUYEN, Dat Minh,TRINH, Van Thien,TRAN, Thi Phuong Diu,CAO, Tuan Phong Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.4
The study aims to assess factors affecting intention to purchase green products in Vietnam. The study employs samples from customers who have actually experienced green consumption in Vietnam. The samples were collected by convenient sampling methods. The survey obtained 206 responses with full information. The survey was conducted from October 2019 to January 2020. The measurement scale was a 5-point scale with 1- completely disagree and 5- strongly agree. This study employs factor analysis and structural equation modelling analysis. The results showed that the social and environment sustainability awareness have positive effects on altruism of customers who are interested in green consumption. Altruism also has the same direction on green purchase intention. Besides, the attitude toward buying green and health consciousness affects green purchase intention. At the same time, the altruism and attitude towards buying green products also influence positively on green purchase intention. Besides, the health consciousness positively affects attitude towards buying green products. The results show that the health consciousness has a negative impact on intention to purchase green products. The findings suggest that it is necessary to raise customers' health consciousness, customers' altruism from disseminating knowledge about environmental protection as well as society to enhance the green consumption in Vietnam.

Scientific evidence on all aspects of smoking amongst youth is very important for designing appropriate interventions to reduce smoking among this vulnerable population. This paper describes current access to anti-smoking information among school children aged 13 to 15 years in Vietnam in 2014 and examines its potential impact on preventing smoking initiation. The data used in this paper were obtained from the 2014 Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) in Vietnam. Students were asked questions about their level of awareness of anti-smoking information from various sources in the past 30 days and about lessons in school regarding the dangers of tobacco use during the last 12 months. Those who have never smoked were asked "whether or not they thought about avoiding cigarettes because of health warnings on cigarette packages" and answers were analyzed in combination with data on access to anti-smoking information from other sources. The prevalence of exposure to antismoking campaigns was high among school children in Viet Nam: 55.3% of current smokers reported thoughts of smoking cessation because of health warnings on cigarette packages; 60.5% of never smokers avoided initiating smoking because of the same health warnings. The potential impact of graphic health warnings to prevent school-aged children from smoking initiation would be stronger if there was concurrent access to anti-smoking programs on the dangers of tobacco use in schools. However, school education for tobacco prevention and control has not been as strong as expected. A more comprehensive school curriculum on tobacco prevention and control is recommended to reinforce antismoking messages among school children.
