Quantum Dots Formed in Three-dimensional Dirac Semimetal Cd<sub>3</sub>As<sub>2</sub> Nanowires

<P>We demonstrate quantum dot (QD) formation in three-dimensional Dirac semimetal Cd<SUB>3</SUB>As<SUB>2</SUB> nanowires using two electrostatically tuned p-n junctions with a gate and magnetic fields. The linear conductance measured as a function of gate voltage under high magnetic fields is strongly suppressed at the Dirac point close to zero conductance, showing strong conductance oscillations. Remarkably, in this regime, the Cd<SUB>3</SUB>As<SUB>2</SUB> nanowire device exhibits Coulomb diamond features, indicating that a clean single QD forms in the Dirac semimetal nanowire. Our results show that a p-type QD can be formed between two n-type leads underneath metal contacts in the nanowire by applying gate voltages under strong magnetic fields. Analysis of the quantum confinement in the gapless band structure confirms that p-n junctions formed between the p-type QD and two neighboring n-type leads under high magnetic fields behave as resistive tunnel barriers due to cyclotron motion, resulting in the suppression of Klein tunneling. The p-type QD with magnetic field-induced confinement shows a single hole filling. Our results will open up a route to quantum devices such as QDs or quantum point contacts based on Dirac and Weyl semimetals.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Superconducting Junction of a Single-Crystalline Au Nanowire for an Ideal Josephson Device

<P>We report on the fabrication and measurements of a superconducting junction of a single-crystalline Au nanowire, connected to Al electrodes. The current−voltage characteristic curve shows a clear supercurrent branch below the superconducting transition temperature of Al and quantized voltage plateaus on application of microwave radiation, as expected from Josephson relations. Highly transparent (0.95) contacts very close to an ideal limit of 1 are formed at the interface between the normal metal (Au) and the superconductor (Al). The very high transparency is ascribed to the single crystallinity of a Au nanowire and the formation of an oxide-free contact between Au and Al. The subgap structures of the differential conductance are well explained by coherent multiple Andreev reflections (MAR), the hallmark of mesoscopic Josephson junctions. Short-channel effect and single-electron transport in individual indium oxide nanowires

<P>We have investigated the electric transport properties of individual In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> nanowire devices. We have found that the gate modulation characteristics depend strongly on the channel length. If the channel length is greater than 450 nm, the gate modulation curve exhibited field-effect transistor behavior with dominant n-channel current at room temperature. With the decrease of the channel length, the leakage current is increased due to the short-channel effect. For such short-channel devices, the gate modulation curve exhibited quasi-periodic current oscillations at low temperature, which are attributed to the Coulomb blockade of single-electron tunneling. Some devices showed two-fold periodicity in the Coulomb diamonds which may arise from the spin degeneracy of the single-particle energy levels.</P>
Haptic Speedometer Using Linear Characteristics

Drivers have to change their sightline to focus on the vehicle’s visual speedometer to check the speed at which they are travelling. This may be a dangerous loss of concentration. A head-up display was developed to solve this issue. HUD has several issues. Large amounts of visual information can create visual clutter and degrade the driver’s information processing due to cognitive overload. The HUD rivets their attention, diverting it from other sources. Driving safely and comfortably, we propose a new type of speedometer that lets drivers know their speed using vibro-tactile sense. The speedometer gives vibration feedback to drivers by its intensity, duration and position switching speed. Those three factors are modified linearly depending on the driving speed. Analysis demonstrates the proposed haptic speedometer helps drivers know the speed information precisely and intuitively.
규제에 있어 정부의 역할: 게임물등급분류제도를 중심으로

이 논문은 다양한 규제방식에 있어 정부의 역할을 검토하고 그 바람직한 방향성을 모색하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 정부에 의한 직접적 규제와 자율규제 및 민간위탁기관에 의한 규제라는 다양한 규제방식을 그 내용으로 하고 있는 게임물등급분류제도를 연구의 대상으로 삼아, 각각의 규제방식에 있어서의 정부의 역할을 검토한다. 구체적으로는 전통적 규제와 자율규제 및 민간위탁을 통한 규제에 있어 정부의 역할에 관한 이론적 논의를 살펴본 후, 게임물등급분류에 관한 다양한 규제방식의 현황과 문제점을 분석한다. 마지막으로 이러한 검토에 근거하여 게임물등급분류의 다양한 규제방식에 있어 바람직한 정부의 역할은 무엇인지 그 방향성을 제시한다. 이를 통해 정부에 의한 전통적 규제뿐만 아니라 자율규제를 포함한 새로운 규제방식에 있어 바람직한 정부의 역할에 관한 학문적 논의를 보다 풍부하게 하는데 이 연구의 의의가 있다. With the changes in the environment such as development of ICT and shifting patterns in governing society, the government is no longer perceived as the most effective regulator. In that context, a variety of new regulatory approaches emerged as alternatives to traditional regulation. This paper examines desirable roles of the government in such modes of regulation and traditional regulation. The research case is the Game Rating Classification System in South Korea that consists of different regulatory methods, including traditional regulation, self-regulation and private contracting. First, through theoretical review of regulatory approaches and the role of government, criteria have been identified that distinguish each regulatory mode and the role of government. Then it discusses status and problems of each regulatory mode in Game Rating Classification System. A desirable governmental role in various regulatory methods in Game Rating System are suggested.
탄자니아 국립공원 야생동물 연구센터와 연구소재은행 간 생물자원 협력사업

(재)연구소재중앙센터와 세 개의 연구소재은행(기생생물자원은행, 의용절지동물은행, 항생제내성균주은행)은 미래창 조과학부 개도국과학기술지원사업의 지원을 받아 탄자니아 천연자원관광부 산하의 국립공원 야생동물 연구센터 (TAWIRI)와 2010년 8월부터 2015년 6월까지 5년간 생물자원 협력사업을 수행했다. 이 사업의 목적은 탄자니아 생물 자원 보존을 위한 인적·물적 인프라 구축, 현지 연구원에게 생명과학 기술 교육 제공, 아프리카 고유의 생물자원을 활용한 야생동물 및 지역민 질병연구를 수행하는 것이다. 본 사업을 통해 2013년 1월 국내 연구소재은행의 운영시스템을 전수하여 현지에 연구소재은행을 설립하였고, 탄자니아 연구원들을 대상으로 정기적인 현지 방문 교육과 국내 초청 생명과학 교육을 진행해 왔다. 탄자니아 현지에서 수집한 희귀 생물자원은 분류, 동정 후에 복사본을 만들어 양국 에서 보존하며 인수공통감염병과 항생제 내성 연구 등에 활용하고 있다. 중앙센터와 연구소재은행들은 기술 지원과 생물자원 공동연구 등 탄자니아와의 학술교류 활동을 지속할 계획이다. Korea National Research Resource Center (KNRRC) had worked on a five-year project entitled, Cooperation on Bioresources with Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) from August 2010 to June 2015 with support from the Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning of Korea. Main purposes of the project were: 1. Establishing a biological resource center and its management system; 2. Building capacity in Tanzanian researchers with short- and long-term biotechnology education programs; 3. Conducting collaborative research on pathogens in wildlife and their transmission mechanisms. In 2013, KNRRC supported the opening of Tanzania Wildlife Research Resource Unit (TWRRU) at the TAWIRI headquarters in Tanzania. Korean researchers visited Tanzania 2 to 4 times a year and Tanzanian researchers were invited to Korea once a year for trainings. The training program included education for managing biological resources and operating resource centers as well as laboratory practices for sampling and storage of bacteria, parasites and arthropods. Duplicates of each specimen collected in Tanzania were prepared for further analysis and preserved in both countries. KNRRC plans to continue technical support and academic exchange with TAWIRI and to further collaborate on research of wildlife bioresources.

본 논문에서는 통상의 독서가 불가능한 정보장애 아동용 멀티미디어 북, ‘Exciting Multimedia Book’을 구현하였다. DAISY 표준의 기본 규격 조건을 만족시키고 실감나는 그래픽과 음향효과를 추가한 프로토타입의 콘텐츠로써, 이를 통해 향후 DAISY 기반 전자책재생도구와 콘텐츠가 개발되어야 할 방향을 제시한 것이 본 논문의 기여하는 바라 하겠다.
