      • 효율적인 Nearest Surrounder 질의 처리 방법

        지금까지 질의 점을 중심으로 최근접 객체(Nearest Neighbor : NN)를 찾는 다양한 연구가 진행되었다. 하지만 이 방법은 질의 점과 객체의 거리만을 고려하기 때문에 질의 점을 둘러싸고 있는 객체들을 찾을 수 없다는 문제점이 있다. 이것을 해결하기 위해서 제안 된 것이 최근접 주변객체(Nearest Surrounder : NS) 질의 처리 이다. 최근접 주변 객체는 질의 점을 둘러싸고 있으면서 가장 가까운 객체들을 찾는 것에 대한 연구이다. 기존의 NS를 찾는 방법은 객체 인덱싱을 위하여 R-tree를 사용하며, 질의 점과 최소경계사각형(minimum bounding rectangle : MBR)이 이루는 각의 범위를 계산한다. 계산 수행 결과 각 MBR들이 이루는 각의 범위가 겹치는 부분이 발생하면 해당 각 범위 내에서 질의 점으로부터 최소거리에 있는 MBR을 선택해야 하므로 범위별 질의 점과 MBR들의 최대 최소 거리를 구해야 한다. 이러한 범위별 계산과정은 계산 비용을 높이는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 NS를 필요로 하는 영역에서 각 범위별 겹쳐지는 MBR들의 꼭지점 좌표만을 비교한다. 이것은 기존 연구에서 계산 비용을 높이는 공통 각 계산 절차를 개선하고, 최대 최소 거리 계산 수행은 생략하여 NS를 찾는다. 제안 기법을 위해 논문에서 사용하는 각 알고리즘은 이전 연구보다 나은 계산비용 절감 효과를 가져 올 수 있다.

      • CT interpretation based strategy for asbestos related lung cancer

        The asbestos can result in various health outcomes such as asbestosis, malignant mesothelioma, lung cancer, and etc. However, the numbers of asbestos related health outcomes may be underestimated in Korea. The aim of this study is to establish a surveillance program for hidden asbestos related lung cancer (ARLC) and evaluate the effect of surveillance program. A total of 7 hospitals joined to find a hidden ARLC in this active surveillance program. The reading sheet of chest CT scan among incident lung cancer in all hospitals were collected for retrospective evaluation (2015.07-2017.06) and a prospective evaluation have been performed for 6 months (2017.07-2017.12). The searching keywords in the reading sheet of chest CT scan for asbestos exposure were ‘plaque’, ‘asbestos’, ‘asbestosis’. A total of 5,389 (No of CT scan=17,503) those who eligible subjects diagnosed as incident lung cancer in retrospective evaluation and 2,030 (No of CT scan=2,976) those diagnosed as incident lung cancer in prospective evaluation were enrolled. The numbers of those subjects with lung cancer who are estimated the exposure of asbestos were 29 cases (7.2 cases per 6 months) in retrospective evaluation and 12 cases per 6 months in prospective evaluation, respectively. Overall increase of finding ARLC (0.54% → 0.98%) after informing process for radiologist was shown. This study result shows that the national statistics of ARLC may be underestimated. In addition, a hospital-based surveillance program focused on radiologists will make the numbers of reporting the ARLC increase.

        Development and Degeneration of Retinal Ganglion Cell Axons in Xenopus tropicalis

        Neurons make long-distance connections via their axons, and the accuracy and stability of these connections are crucial for brain function. Research using various animal models showed that the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the assembly and maintenance of neuronal circuitry are highly conserved in vertebrates. Therefore, to gain a deeper understanding of brain development and maintenance, an efficient vertebrate model is required, where the axons of a defined neuronal cell type can be genetically manipulated and selectively visualized in vivo. Placental mammals pose an experimental challenge, as time-consuming breeding of genetically modified animals is required due to their in utero development. Xenopus laevis, the most commonly used amphibian model, offers comparative advantages, since their embryos ex utero during which embryological manipulations can be performed. However, the tetraploidy of the X. laevis genome makes them not ideal for genetic studies. Here, we use Xenopus tropicalis, a diploid amphibian species, to visualize axonal pathfinding and degeneration of a single central nervous system neuronal cell type, the retinal ganglion cell (RGC). First, we show that RGC axons follow the developmental trajectory previously described in X. laevis with a slightly different timeline. Second, we demonstrate that co-electroporation of DNA and/or oligonucleotides enables the visualization of gene function-altered RGC axons in an intact brain. Finally, using this method, we show that the axon-autonomous, Sarm1-dependent axon destruction program operates in X. tropicalis. Taken together, the present study demonstrates that the visual system of X. tropicalis is a highly efficient model to identify new molecular mechanisms underlying axon guidance and survival.

      • Big improvement of crow``s feet after treatment with Jet-M and a mixed solution of β-glucan, rhodiolar extract, oligo-hyaluronic acid, and copper-GHK

        Jet-M (Tav-Tech Ltd., Israel) is an instrument for skin resurfacing. When it sprays microdroplets of solution or shoots air on the skin, exfoliation and stretching of superficial layers can occur. So, it will increase percutaneous absorption of vitamins and other cosmeticagents. A cosmetic preparation containing β-glucan, rhodiolar extract, oligo-hyaluronic acid, copper-GHK, and tranexamic acid was used with jet-M in one patient. Anesthesia was not done and there was no pain during the treatment. A male aged 59 years was treated once a week for 12 weeks. In the clinical photos, wrinkles around the treated eye were greatly decreased. Skin biopsies were taken from treated and untreated areas. H&E and Masson’s trichrome staining showed collagen increase in the upper dermis. On the other hand, collagen IV was slightly increased. Fibrillin-1 and procollagen type 1 weregreatly increased and tropoelastin was also increased. There was no adverse effect during and after treatment.

        Vimentin filaments regulate integrin–ligand interactions by binding to the cytoplasmic tail of integrin β3

        <P>Vimentin, an intermediate filament protein induced during epithelialto- mesenchymal transition, is known to regulate cell migration and invasion. However, it is still unclear how vimentin controls such behaviors. In this study, we aimed to find a new integrin regulator by investigating the H-Ras-mediated integrin suppression mechanism. Through a proteomic screen using the integrin beta 3 cytoplasmic tail protein, we found that vimentin might work as an effector of H-Ras signaling. H-Ras converted filamentous vimentin into aggregates near the nucleus, where no integrin binding can occur. In addition, an increase in the amount of vimentin filaments accessible to the integrin beta 3 tail enhanced talin-induced integrin binding to its ligands by inducing integrin clustering. In contrast, the vimentin head domain, which was found to bind directly to the integrin beta 3 tail and compete with endogenous vimentin filaments for integrin binding, induced nuclear accumulation of vimentin filaments and reduced the amount of integrin-ligand binding. Finally, we found that expression of the vimentin head domain can reduce cell migration and metastasis. From these data, we suggest that filamentous vimentin underneath the plasma membrane is involved in increasing integrin adhesiveness, and thus regulation of the vimentin-integrin interaction might control cell adhesion.</P>

        Psychiatric Sequelae of Former “Comfort Women,” Survivors of the Japanese Military Sexual Slavery during World War II

        “Comfort women” refers to young women and girls who were forced into sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese military during World War II. They were abducted from their homes in countries under Imperial Japanese rule, mostly from Korea, and the rest from China, Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Netherlands, etc. “Comfort women” endured extreme trauma involving rape, sexual torture, physical abuse, starvation, threats of death, and witnessed many others being tortured and killed. This article reviews all the studies that have investigated the psychiatric or psychosocial sequelae of the survivors of the Japanese military sexual slavery. Most importantly, a recent study which conducted a psychiatric evaluation on the former “comfort women” currently alive in South Korea is introduced. The participants’ unmarried rate was relatively high and their total fertility rate was relatively low. Majority of the participants reported having no education and being the low economic status. They showed high current and lifetime prevalence of posttraumatic disorder, major depressive disorder, somatic symptom disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and alcohol use disorder. Participants showed high suicidality and majority of the participants still reported being ashamed of being former “comfort women” after all these years. This article highlights the fact that the trauma has affected the mental health and social functioning of former “comfort women” throughout their lives, and even to the present day.

        이청준 소설의 드러냄의 신호와 학습자 반응 연구

        대학생들의 자기 이해 부족과 사고력 저하 양상은 자존감 위축과 소통능력 저하로 이어져, 건강한 사회형성을 저해하는 요인이 될 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 드러냄의 신호와 학습자 반응연구를 통해 그 대안을 찾으려는 데 있다. 본 연구는 청년들의 자기 이해와 소통 문제를 드러냄의 신호방식인 ‘텔’을 통해 고찰했다. 경영대학의 경영학과와 관광경영학과 학생들을 연구대상으로 했다. 두 학과의 학생들을 대상으로 동일 키워드로 수업을 진행한 결과 드러냄의 신호에 반응하는 양상의 빈도가 다름을 알 수 있었다. 경영학과의 경우 인물의 몸짓 텔에 60% 이상이 반응을 보였고, 인물의 ‘말과 기분, 의도’ 텔에 반응하는 빈도는 8%에 불과했다. 관광경영학과 학생들의 경우 인물의 몸짓 텔에 46%, 인물의 말과 기분, 의도 텔에 42% 반응을 보였다. 두 학과의 유사점은 인물의 몸짓 텔에 가장 높은 반응을 보였다는 것이다. 다른 점은 인물의 말과 기분, 의도에 대한 반응이 경영학과 학생들의 경우 매우 낮은 반응을 보인 점이다. 그리고 텔의 반응빈도와 MBTI 성격검사 결과와의 통계자료를 비교 분석했을 때 유의미한 결과가 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 논의를 통해 개인별 성향과 환경, 학과별 특성에 따라 텔의 신호에 반응을 보이는 양상이 다름을 알 수 있다. 본 연구는 이를 임상연구 결과물과 심리학 논거를 병행해서 고찰했다. In this study improving thinking skills and communication among young people, the basis of a healthy society. The novel’s signal method of revealing, that is ‘tell’s’ was examined Lee Cheong jun. The tried to devise a communication method suitable for the student disposition. Research was conducted for students in the Department of Business Administration students in the Department of Tourism Management. As a research method, I focused on telling “person's expression, intonation, gesture, color, words and mood, feeling, and intention”. As a result of the study, it can be seen that the method of communication differs depending on the individual's disposition and specialty department. Students with appropriate percent and statistics are more likely to respond to gesture signals. In comparison, students who are more sensitive to human emotions are more likely to respond to the “tell” of the character's words, intentions, and moods. It should be possible to apply it to the ‘teaching-learning’ process in consideration of the strengths and supplement to be complemented by the students. This can be a foundation for young people's ‘self-understanding’, ‘self-esteem’, and communication with society.
