The objective of this study was to perform 3D solid modeling from 3D scanned surface images of cotton and silk in order to calculate the thermal heat transfer responses using numerical simulations. Continuing from the previous methodology, which provided 3D surface data for a fabric through optical measurements of the fabric microstructure, a simplified 3D solid model, containing a defined unit cell, pattern unit and fabric structure, was prepared. The loft method was used for 3D solid-model generation, and heat transfer calculations, made for the fabric, were then carried out using the 3D solid model. As a result, comprehensive protocols for 3D solid-model generation were established based on the optical measurements of real fabric samples. This method provides an effective means of using 3D information for building 3D models of actual fabrics and applying the model in numerical simulations. The developed process can be used as the basis for other analogous research areas to investigate the physical characteristics of any fabrics.
Genetic Influences on Hallux Valgus in Koreans: The Healthy Twin Study

<P>Hallux valgus (HV) is a common foot deformity of multifactorial etiology, but knowledge about the relative importance of genetics and environments on HV has been limited. In order to estimate genetic influences on HV, 1,265 adults, including 175 monozygotic twin (MZ) pairs, 31 dizygotic twin (DZ) pairs, and 853 first-degree singleton family members of the twins were included from the Healthy Twin study, a population-based twin-family cohort in Korea. All participants underwent foot examination and weight-bearing radiographic assessment (anterior-posterior and lateral) in addition to a general health survey. Of the subjects, 208 (16.4%) were classified as HV (as HV angle >20°). The genetic influence on HV was estimated to be substantial; the heritability of HV was 0.51 (95% CI 0.42-0.59) and the heritability of HV angle was 0.47 (0.38-0.56), while contributions from shared environmental effects were negligible. These findings suggest that genetic factors play an important role in determining HV deformity.</P>
탄력밴드 운동프로그램이 대학생의 근력과 운동수행능력에 미치는 영향

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and analyse the change on muscular strength and exercise performance ability of university students participating in leisure sports by elastic-band exercise program. Method : The subjects(N=22) participating in leisure sports are recruited from K university located in Chungbuk. The subjects which are divided to 2 groups as experimental group(N=11) conducted elastic-band exercise program and control group(N=11) conducted stretching program. The muscular strength and exercise performance ability were measured before and after intervention. Result : There were no significant differences(p>.05) in sex, age, height, and weight among subjects. In the measurement of muscular strength, a significant difference(p<.05) was observed in each group, and there was also significant difference(p<.05) between two groups except gastrocnemius(p>.05). A significant difference(p<.05) in muscular volume was observed in each group, and there was also significant difference(p<.05) between two groups apart from gastrocnemius(p>.05). In exercise performance ability, there was significant difference(p<.05) in sergent jump and side-step in each group, and there was a significant difference(p<.05) between two groups in sergent jump, but there was no significant difference(p>0.5) in side-step. Conclusion : Based on this study, through a variety of age and various intervention period to apply more subjects conducting elastic-band exercise program should continue.

경희대학교는 과학임무를 위해 Tissue Equivalent Proportional Counter (TEPC)와 fluxgate MAGnetometer (MAG)를 탑재한 초소형인공위성 Scientific cubesat with Instruments for Global magnetic field and rAidation (SIGMA)를 개발하였다. SIGMA는 3U 크기로 개발된 2.9 ㎏의 무게를 갖는 큐브위성이다. 주탑재체인 TEPC는 Linear Energy Transfer (LET) 스펙트럼을 측정하고 우주환경에서의 등가선량을 도출한다. 부탑재체인 MAG는 큐브위성에 적합하도록 소형화하여 설계하였으며 0.1 nT의 분해능과 ±52000 nT의 측정범위를 갖는다. 현재 SIGMA는 비행모델 개발 및 우주환경시험과 지상국 개발을 완료하여 발사를 위한 모든 준비를 마쳤다. 본 논문에서는 SIGMA의 시스템 개발과 우주환경시험 결과에 대하여 논의하고자 한다. SIGMA has a 3U CubeSat, and the weight is about 2.9 ㎏. The primary payload, TEPC, measure the Linear Energy Transfer (LET) spectrum and calculate the equivalent dose for the complicated radiation field in the space. The secondary payload, magnetometer, measures the global magnetic fields. It has 0.1 nT resolution in the dynamic range of ±52000 nT. In this paper, we introduce the system design and the environment test of the SIGMA CubeSat mission.
