This paper analyzes the relationship between labor productivity and team performance by using the National Football League (NFL) data between 1994-1995 and 2008-2009 seasons. In order to do this, we collect statistical data from two major web-sites as of nfl.com and pro-football-reference.com, and utilize a methodology of Poisson regression model because we have count data. The dependent variable is a winning percentage and independent variables are player performance in offense and defense indicating labor productivity. From the empirical analysis, we found the number of independent variables has positive impacts on team performance. Thus, we can conclude that there exists a positive relationship between labor productivity and team (organizational) performance. In addition, we can conclude that the quarterback`s performance is a statistically significant determinant of team performance.

After presenting the formation of “Northeast Asia Plus Community Responsibility” as a national agenda in the field of foreign affairs, the South Korean government has been pursuing “New Northern and New Southern Policy” as a way to build and implement a platform for peaceful cooperation in Northeast Asia. The New Northern Policy was announced at the 3rd Eastern Economic Forum held in September 2017. This policy is aimed at expanding South Korea’s economic cooperation with Northern countries in Eurasia and promoting the country’s participation in the Russian development of the Far Eastern Region. Various strategies have been put forward to realize the vision of the New Northern Policy including “Cooperation with Russia through 9-Bridge Strategy”, “Establishment of a Dedicated Agency for Economic Cooperation with Northern Countries”, and “Building Institutions and Infrastructure.” As a follow-up, the “Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation” was launched in August 2017 and a “New Northern Policy Roadmap” was unveiled in June 2018. In the meantime, the New Southern Policy was officially announced at Korea-Indonesia Business Forum held in November 2017 for the purpose of strengthening South Korea’s relations with ASEAN and India so that it becomes as solid as the relations each of four major countries, the U.S., China, Japan and Russia, maintains with ASEAN and India. This policy proposes four key areas of potential cooperation including transportation, energy, water resources and smart IT. A Special Committee on the New Southern Policy was established in August 2018 and Korea-ASEAN Special Summit was held in November 2019 as part of efforts to implement the policy. For a successful implementation of the “9-Bridge Strategy” and four key areas of the New Southern Policy, it is important for South Korea to enhance its technological capability and further promote technology cooperation with New Northern and New Southern countries. The 9-Bridge Strategy covers such areas as fishery, agriculture, railroad, North Pole Route, gas, harbor and industrial complex while the four core areas of the New Southern Policy encompass transportation, energy, water resources and smart IT. Currently, the New Northern and the New Southern countries are building clusters in their attempts to create innovation through “Triple-Helix” mode. For this purpose, Special Economic Zones are being built and industry-academia-research institute cooperation is being actively pursued. The present study analyzes clusters in major New Northern and New Southern countries including Russia, India and Vietnam and presents cluster-led cooperation strategies based on the results of the analysis.
[기술경영] 제조기업의 연구개발활동과 소비자지향성이 기술혁신에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 과학기술정책연구원이 지난 2008년도에 조사한 ‘기술혁신조사(KIS) 2008’의 원자료를 활용하여, 2005년부터 2007년까지 국내 제조업 기업들이 이루어낸 혁신의 결정요인에 대해 분석하였다. Probit 모형을 활용한 실증분석 결과 기업규모와 시장집중도가 기업의 기술혁신 활동을 유인하는 주요 결정요인이라는 슘페터 가설을 지지하는 연구결과를 얻었다. 또한 기업이 수행하는 연구개발 활동 역시 혁신을 촉진할 수 있는 요인으로 나타났다. 이와 함께 시장에 있어서 소비자지향성의 척도라 할 수 있는 광고 선전비 집약도가 혁신이 일어날 확률에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 추정되었다. This study analyzes determinants of innovation in Korea manufacturing industries from 2005 to 2007. In order to do this, we use raw data from ‘Korea Innovation Survey 2008: Manufacturing Sector’ conducted by STEPI, and also collect financial statement data from Korea Investors Service. As an analytical method for the empirical test, we utilize Probit model. Empirical results show that firm size and market concentration have positive relationship with firm's innovation activities. These support the ‘Schumpeterian hypothesis’. This would be the most distinguished feature of this study compared to previous literatures. Our study also shows that R&D personnel ratio, R&D intensity, and advertising intensity have positive effects on firms' innovation. Thus, we can say that R&D activities and consumer orientation are the main determinants of innovation. However, profit ratio and growth rate do not have any statistically significant effect on firms' innovation.

Background and Purpose The effects of high-intensity cycling as an adjuvant therapy forearly-stage Parkinson’s disease (PD) were highlighted recently. However, patients experience difficultiesin maintaining these cycling training programs. The present study investigated the efficacyof cycling at a mild-to-moderate intensity in early-stage PD. Methods Thirteen PD patients were enrolled for 16 serial cycling sessions over a 2-month period. Motor function was assessed using the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale part III(UPDRS III) and Timed Up and Go (TUG) test as primary outcomes. The Montreal CognitiveAssessment (MoCA), modified Hoehn and Yahr Stage (mHYS), total UPDRS, Falls EfficacyScale, New Freezing of Gait Questionnaire, Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living, 39-item Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire, Patient Global Impression of Change, and gait performancewere assessed as secondary outcomes. Results The age and the age at onset were 59.67±7.24 and 53.23±10.26 years (mean±SD), respectively. The cycling cadence was 53.27±8.92 revolutions per minute. The UPDRS III scoreimproved significantly after 8 training sessions (p=0.011) and 16 training sessions (T2) (p=0.001) in the off-state, and at T2 (p=0.004) in the on-state compared to pretraining (T0). TheTUG duration was significantly shorter at T2 than at T0 (p<0.05). The findings of MoCA, totalUPDRS, double limb support time, and mHYS (in both the off- and on-states) also improvedsignificantly at T2. Conclusions Our pioneer study has demonstrated that a low-intensity progressive cycling exercisecan improve motor function in PD, especially akinesia. The beneficial effects were similarto those of high-intensity rehabilitation programs.
