유아의 연령 및 성별에 따른 부모의사소통유형과 자녀의 사회적 능력의 관계 = Relations between Parents` Communication Styles and Children`s Social Competence According to Age and Gender

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examined the relations between parents` communication styles and children`s social competence according to the age and gender. For survey, the questionnaire was distributed targeting 113 kindergartens, from 4 to 5 years. Their parents were also interviewed. The measuring tools were the scale of parent`s communication styles and the scale of children`s social competence. The data collected were calculated and analysed according to the frequency table to identify subjects of the background variables. The parents` communication styles and social competence of children was used to explore the general trend. The mean and the standard deviation were calculated. The t-test to determine the relationship and ANOVA analysis was also performed to analyse the background variables, parents` communication styles and the children`s social competence. Parents` communication styles and social competence according to the children`s background variables to determine the correlation of Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was calculated. The results of this study could be summarized as follows: Firstly, father`s response to the 4 year olds was more favourable than the 5 year olds. Secondly, the social competence of the girls in the area of social participation sub-factors was significantly higher than the boys. Thirdly, the father`s facilitative communication that was the subfactor of parents` communication was correlated with the child`s social competence. Communication styles of the mother showed significant differences, more facilitative and open communication, more increases that is the subfactor of social competence. However it was more one-sided communication, decreased interpersonal adaptability, popularity and leadership. Parents` communication styles were correlated with four-year-old children`s social competence significantly. The mother`s communication style was correlated with boy`s social competence significantly.
