        Ultrastructure of sensilla on the maxillary and labial palps of three species (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Staphylininae)

        Most species of Staphylinidae are predators in an agroecosystem. They acquire prey information from their environment through receptors. In this study, the sensilla on maxillary and labial palps of Philonthus kailiensis, Philonthus lewisius and Quedius robustus were examined with scanning electron microscopy to identify and analyse the external morphology and distribution of the sensilla to enhance our knowledge of the sensilla of Staphylinidae and provide a rationale of taxonomical studies on the two genus. Results showed that the sensilla are classified into six types: Böhm bristles, sensilla chaetica, sensilla furcate, sensilla coeloconica, sensilla placodea and sensilla basiconica. No sexual dimorphism exists among the three species. The relationships and functions of sensilla on maxillary and labial palps were also speculated. There may be a certain correlation between the sensilla on maxillary and labial palps of the staphylinid and its habitat.

      • Bio-inspired Micro Pump Model Based on the Movement Pattern of Sperm

        Micro pumps play important roles in microfluidic system. Biologically inspired actuation mechanisms have great advantages in the micro pump design. This work aims to develop a numerical model for bio-inspired micro pump based on the specific and genuine movement pattern of the sperm. The model also employs a modified immersed boundary-lattice Boltzmann method. In the model, an elastic film is used to mimic a sperm moving with its head fixed. The fluctuation vibration of the film could then drive the static fluid to move. The modified immersed boundary-lattice Boltzmann method directly introduces the velocity information of the film into the traditional lattice Boltzmann equation, which improve the computational efficiency. Pressure distribution, streamlines and the flow rate curves are used to analyze the flow field dynamic process of the model. The effects of the model parameters (e.g. frequency, kinematic viscosity, amplitude and wavelength) on the stable flow rate are also studied comprehensively.

        Culture-Positive Spontaneous Ascitic Infection in Patients with Acute Decompensated Cirrhosis: Multidrug-Resistant Pathogens and Antibiotic Strategies

        Purpose: This study investigated multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens and antibiotic strategies of culture-positive spontaneousascitic infection (SAI) in patients with acute decompensated cirrhosis. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 432 acute decompensated cirrhotic patients with culture-positive SAI from11 teaching hospitals in China (January 2012 to May 2018). A Cox proportional hazards model analysis was conducted to identifyindependent predictors of 28-day mortality. Results: A total of 455 strains were isolated from 432 ascitic culture samples. Gram-negative bacteria (GNB), gram-positive bacteria(GPB), and fungi caused 52.3, 45.5, and 2.2% of all SAI episodes, respectively. Episodes were classified as nosocomial (41.2%), healthcare-related (34.7%), and community-acquired (24.1%). Escherichia coli (13.4%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (2.4%) were extendedspectrumβ-lactamase producing isolates. The prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus was 1.1%. Ceftazidime,cefepime, aztreonam, and amikacin were recommended as first-line antibiotics agents for non-MDR GNB infections; piperacillin/tazobactam and carbapenems for MDR GNB in community-acquired and healthcare-related or nosocomial infections, respectively;and vancomycin or linezolid for GPB infections, regardless of drug-resistance status. Multivariate analysis revealed days ofhospital stay before SAI, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, white blood cell count, alanine aminotransferase, serum creatinine concentration,total bilirubin, and international normalized ratio as key independent predictors of 28-day mortality. Conclusion: MDR pathogens and antibiotic strategies were identified in patients with acute decompensated cirrhosis with culture-positive SAI, which may help optimize therapy and improve clinical outcomes.

        Synthesis, characterization and evaluation of Ni–Mo/Zr–Al2O3 catalyst for hydro-conversion of lignite-based heavy carbon resources

        NaOH depolymerized products (SDP) of Shengli lignite was used as lignite-based heavy carbon resources in this study. Hydrotreatment of SDP over Ni–Mo/Al2O3 and Ni–Mo/Zr–Al2O3 catalysts was investigated. It was found that the incorporation of Zr to Ni–Mo/Al2O3 catalyst results in the easy reduction of metal oxides and the increase of the stacking degree and length of MoS2 slabs. Both of Ni–Mo/Al2O3 and Ni–Mo/Zr–Al2O3 catalysts show better performance for hydrogenation of SDP and can be used repeatedly. The incorporation of Zr to Ni–Mo/Al2O3 catalyst significantly inhibits the formation of tetrahydrofuran insolubles (THFI), promotes the formation of two-ring aromatics and increases HS yield compared to that over Ni–Mo/Al2O3 catalyst.

        Compressive Mechanical Properties and Shock-Induced Reaction Behavior of a Ti–29Nb–13Ta–4.6Zr Alloy

        The compressive mechanical properties of a Ti–29Nb–13Ta–4.6Zr alloy were investigated at room temperature under variousstrain rates. The parameters of a modified Johnson–Cook constitutive equation were determined to describe the strainsoftening behavior under dynamic conditions. The testing results under compression show yield strength evidently increaseswith the increase of the strain rate. Moreover, it was found that the strain-rate effect of the yield strength upon dynamicdeformation is more significant than that upon quasi-static deformation. In order to characterize the impact-initiated reactionbehavior of Ti–29Nb–13Ta–4.6Zr alloy, the quasi-sealed test chamber was used to measure the pressure caused by energyreleased of fragments. It was obviously shown that the exothermic chemical reaction was more intense with the increase ofimpact velocity.

      • Affinity Propagation Algorithm Based on Locality Preserving Projections and Particle Swarm Optimization

        Affinity propagation algorithm is a new powerful and effective clustering method. One of the major problems in clustering is the determination of the optimal number of clusters. In this paper, the particle swarm optimization algorithm is utilized to cope with this problem by using the parameter p as each particle and Silhouette index as the fitness, which can search for the optimal value of p and determine the optimal number of clusters automatically. Moreover, the problem of information overlap is the main drawback of affinity propagation algorithm in dealing with complex structure or high dimensional data for clustering. Hence the enhanced Locality preserving projections method is proposed to integrate with affinity propagation algorithm to reduce the dimension of the data as a processing step. As the result of experiment shows, the proposed method can simultaneously obtain the optimal number of clusters accurately and improve the clustering accuracy by eliminating the redundant information of the data without losing the internal nonlinear structure.

        A tailored molecular imprinting ratiometric fluorescent sensor based on red/blue carbon dots for ultrasensitive tetracycline detection

        The molecular imprinting ratiometricfluorescence sensor has exhibited great potential in biological andenvironmental detection because of the combination between the excellent selectivity of molecularimprinting technique and outstanding robustness of ratiometric measurement methods On this basis,two kinds of different well-resolved wavelengths and high-fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) were preparedby various solvent extraction using osmanthus fragrans leaves as carbon source. Then the ratiometricfluorescence sensor (MIPs@rCDs/bCDs@SiO2) has been constructed by the obtained CDs which the redemissionCDs (rCDs) were used to responsive signal and the blue-emission CDs (bCDs) was served asreference signal and applied for highly selective and excellent sensitive detection of tetracycline (TC). Under optimum conditions, the ratiometricfluorescence MIPs@rCDs/bCDs@SiO2 sensor has alsoexhibited lower detection limit of 1.19 nM and the linear range of 0–50 nM. The ratiometricfluorescencesensor was further successfully employed to the determination of TC in water samples gathered fromlocal river water and tap water, indicating its great worth toward water sample analysis in complicatedenvironments.

        Optimal design of main girder structure of bridge crane based on equal life concept driven by data

        In traditional structural crane design, the fatigue strength of the structure is qualitatively evaluated, only depending on the steel type, working level and joint form, which leads to the excessive service life of some parts of the existing main girder structure, resulting in a waste of industrial resources and manufacturing costs. Based on the concept of equal life design, this paper obtained the service information of the crane in the scheduled inspection period through the rapid prediction method of "field collection+machine learning." Combined with the bearing capacity evaluation method and the fatigue life assessment method of "S-N curve+ fracture mechanics," a nonlinear mixed integer equal life optimization model of crane girder structure was established, and the multi-specular reflection optimization algorithm was used to optimize the life distribution at different positions and overall weight of the main girder. The structural design parameters of the crane main girder which meet the bearing capacity and have the characteristics of "equal life+lightweight" were obtained. The performance of the optimized main girder structure was verified by finite element simulation. The results show that this method can realize the quantitative control of the life distribution of each position of the crane main girder structure and the lightweight design of the whole structure, and provides a scientific reference for the equal life and lightweight design of large construction machinery products.

        Fatigue life prediction and reliability analysis of the forage crusher rotor

        To accurately predict fatigue life and reliability of the forage crusher rotor, the stress load spectrum of the rotor is obtained via the two-way fluid-structure coupling method, which calculates the coupled flow field in the forage crusher and rotor structure. The fatigue life of the rotor is predicted, and its reliability is analyzed. Finally, the rotor is optimized by a multiisland genetic algorithm. The results indicate that the fatigue life prediction based on fracture mechanics theory and the Gerber average stress correction method is more suitable for the prediction of the rotor’s fatigue life. After optimization, the fatigue life cycles of the rotor are increased from 1.229×10 8 to 7.67×10 8 and the reliability is increased from 89.4 % to 99.7 %. This meets the reliability requirement of key parts of agricultural and animal husbandry machinery. This study provides a reference for the prediction and optimization of fatigue life and reliability of forage crushers.

        Buckling of simply supported thin plate with variable thickness under bi-axial compression using perturbation technique

        An analytical research on buckling of simply supported thin plate with variable thickness under bi-axial compression is presented in this paper. Combining the perturbation technique, Fourier series expansion and Galerkin methods, the linear governing differential equation of the plate with arbitrary thickness variation under bi-axial compression is solved and the analytical expression of the critical buckling load is obtained. Based on that, numerical analysis is carried out for the plates with different thickness variation forms and aspect ratios under different bi-axial compressions. Four different thickness variation forms including linear, parabolic, stepped and trigonometric have been considered in this paper. The calculated critical buckling loads and buckling modes are presented and compared with the published results in the tables and figures. It shows that the analytical expressions derived by the theoretical method in this paper can be effectively used for buckling analysis of simply supported thin plates with arbitrary thickness variation, especially for the stepped thickness that used in engineering widely.
