        論≪大公報≫對輿論環境的建構

        For Chinese during thousands of years, ‘Civil commotion’ is a social phenomenon ubiquitously. People are at the bottom of the society and have the most direct feelings for their society. Therefore, any changes in the state of things around them will directly influence their lives. In the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, national social crisis aggravate constantly with people living in dire straits, so people are forced to pretend to be lively have to set off wave after the wave of ‘Civil commotion’ climax. The ‘Da Gong Bao’ at that time, as one of influenctial mass media, assumed the true information transfer event. For the people, who are shouting, and guiding public opinion and from the authority of government pressure on social responsibility, this paper contributed to the incident direction of 'good' in a certain extent. In addition, to explore the modern mass media reports on mass incidents as well as the construction of the concept of public opinion for the mass media, public opinion guide will have a certain significance. This paper demonstrates articles from ‘Da Gong Bao’ between 1909-1911 about ‘Civil commotion' reports as research samples, which are chosen from the perspective of 'agenda setting' to analyze the ‘Da Gong Bao’ of public opinion environment construction process. The results show that the ‘Da Gong Bao’, assuming the government supervision and the basis of liability of the information transmission by setting the news frame ‘Civil commotion' in order to impact newspaper readers, prompted the government to reform. However, due to the limitations of the times and the newspaper itself, this newspaper reported in the structure construction of 'constitutional monarchy media framework’ and social reality have certain discrepancy.

        Experimental and Mechanical Behavior of Rubber-Sleeved Group Studs

        The group studs used in precast steel-concrete composite bridges can reduce the volume of cast-in-place concrete, consequently accelerating the construction process and improving the construction quality. However, the small spacing of the studs in the group studs may result in a decrease in shear strength and ductility, and a nonuniform distribution of shear force at the root of the studs. Hence, rubber-sleeved group studs, whose studs are wrapped by a rubber sleeve at the root, are proposed to redistribute the shear force at the steel–concrete interface and improve the ductility of the shear connector. In this study, four push-out tests were conducted to demonstrate the composite mechanism of rubber-sleeved group studs. Results show that the rubber-sleeved group studs exhibit better ductility than ordinary group studs. Finite element models verified using the test results were also established for parametric analysis. The mechanism analysis shows that the concrete compression regions around stud roots are sufficiently utilized. Based on the parametric analysis, designing suggestions for rubber-sleeved group studs were provided.

        Experimental and Numerical Research on Uplift-Restricted and Slip-Permitted Screw-Shaped Connectors

        Improving mechanical performance of the negative moment regions of continuous composite beams is essential for composite beam bridges. Uplift-restricted and slip-permitted (URSP) screw-shaped connectors can enhance the crack resistance of a concrete slab through free slip between the concrete slab and the steel beam. Furthermore, URSP screw-shaped connectors are more adaptable to the requirements of rapid construction than URSP T-shaped connectors. To investigate the slip and mechanical behavior of URSP screw-shaped connectors, nine push-out tests with various parameters were conducted. In these tests, the thickness of the foam sleeve wrapped outside the screw exerted a highly signifi cant eff ect on free slip performance. A refi ned 3D nonlinear fi nite element model with the foam’s constitutive model was established using ABAQUS. The stress mechanism and failure modes of the FE models were analyzed. Lastly, to estimate the slip performance of URSP screw-shaped connectors, an equation with a simple form was proposed via mechanism analysis and a regression method.

This paper attempts to the “Dagongbao” “Shenbao” two newspapers reported the incident, to reveal the political events in the sudden news control effect on news reports in the news media and under the control of how to find the balance between the government and the readers, better play the role of functions of the media.

      • A Study of Leveraging Memory Level Parallelism for DRAM System on Multi-Core Architecture

        DRAM system has been more and more critical on modern multi-core architecture where the Moore’s law has been made effect on increasing the number of cores integrated in a processor chip. The performance of DRAM system is usually measured in term of bandwidth and latency, which are regarded as inherently depending on Row Buffer Hit Rate (RBHR) according to previous studies. In this paper, we find that Memory Level Parallelism (MLP) exhibits a stronger correlation with the performance of DRAM system on multi-core/many-core architecture than RBHR, and promoting MLP significantly improves DRAM system performance. In order to exploit the MLP, we have evaluated various approaches including multi-bank, multi-row-buffers, multi-memory-controllers and the obsolete Virtual Channel Memory (VCM). The experimental results show that VCM is a better alternative to traditional DRAM chip on multicore/many-core architecture than the other three approaches because VCM has almost all the advantages of the others: 1) it can improve homogeneous workloads’ IPC by 2.21X on a 16-core system with 32 virtual channels due to leveraging unexploited MLP. 2) It can also promote Quality-of-Service (QoS) of DRAM system by removing unfairness while memory controllers serve memory requests. 3) It can save energy and has low area costs. Unfortunately, VCM, which was proposed in the late 1990s, faded away before multi-core/manycore became dominated. Therefore, we suggest memory chip vendors reconsider the VCM technology for multi-core architecture.

        Superior tribology property of zinc phosphate impregnated graphite block at high-temperature oxidative friction

        High-temperature friction performances of graphite blocks (GBs) and zinc phosphate impregnated graphite blocks (IGBs) were evaluated under various friction temperatures. The surface of IGB exhibited extremely lower average friction coefficient values, that was 0.007 at 400 °C and 0.008 at 450 °C, in comparison to that of GB (0.13 at 400 °C and 0.16 at 450 °C, respectively). The worn surface of IGB in the high-temperature friction test was smoother and more complete than that of GB. The wear under high temperature and load caused the transformation of zinc pyrophosphate to zinc metaphosphate and the formation of a continuous large-area boundary lubrication layer combined with graphite and metallic element on the wear surface. The superior tribology property of IGB could be attributed to the digestion of iron oxides by tribo-chemical reactions and passivation of the exposed dangling covalent bonds. Specifically, the layered structure generated on the IGB wear interface effectively decreased the adhesive forces and prevented the surface from serious damage.

        Transcriptomic profiling of the cold stress and recovery responsiveness of two contrasting Guizhou HE rice genotypes

        Background At the seed germination stage, rice is sensitive to cold stress, which adversely affects its growth and development. Guizhou HE rice comprises several different landraces, most of which are cold tolerant. Objective To identify differentially expressed genes and molecular mechanism underlying the cold tolerance of Guizhou HE. Methods Two Guizhou HE genotypes, AC44 (cold-sensitive) and AC96 (cold-tolerant), which exhibit opposite phenotypes in response to cold treatment at the seed germination stage were used. Comprehensive gene expressions of AC44 and AC96 under 4 °C cold treatment and subsequent recovery conditions were comparatively analyzed by RNA sequencing. Results Overall, 11,082 and 7749 differentially expressed genes were detected in AC44 and AC96, respectively. Comparative transcriptome analysis demonstrated that, compared with AC44, AC96 presented fewer upregulated and downregulated genes. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analyses demonstrated that AC96 presented more upregulated GO terms, especially terms associated with biological processes. However, AC44 presented more terms related to cellular components, mainly chloroplasts. Moreover, DEGs related to the auxin signaling pathway (including ARF and IAA family members) and transcription factors (including members of the F-box, bZIP, basic helix-loop-helix [bHLH], and MYB-like transcription factor families) were found to be expressed specifically in AC96; thus, these DEGs may be responsible for the cold tolerance of AC96. Conclusions These findings present information about the cold tolerance mechanism of Guizhou HE rice at the germination stage, providing valuable resources and candidate genes for breeding cold-tolerant rice genotypes.

        The technology and properties of sponge city permeable bricks prepared using refractory waste

        With the widespread development of sponge city projects across the country, the use of industrial permeable bricks hasincreased dramatically. My country produces a large amount of refractory waste and pollutes the environment seriously. Wasterefractory insulation bricks are used as the main raw materials, and a small amount of auxiliary raw materials are added toprepare sponge urban permeable bricks through forming and sintering processes. Through performance tests, such asporosity, flexural strength, and water permeability coefficient, the effect of process parameters on the performance ofpermeable bricks is studied, the process parameters of using refractory waste are comprehensively optimized to preparesponge urban permeable bricks, and permeable bricks are prepared for the industrialization of high-quality industrial solidwaste. Brick provides reference. Through the experimental results and analysis, the following conclusions are drawn: the rawmaterial ratio of refractory brick waste: binder: foaming agent: sintering aid is 80:10:1:9. Slurry water mill foaming occurswhen the water to material ratio is 0.5, the ball milling speed is 80 r/min, and the ball milling time is 2 h; the foaming effectand molding performance are better. In the drying stage, drying at 45 oC for 12 h has the best molding effect. The sinteringsystem at 1,300 oC and holding time of 1 h has the best sintering performance. After optimizing the process, the porosity ofthe permeable bricks can reach 48.4%, the water permeability coefficient is 2.1×10^-2 cm/s, the national permeable brick hasA-level standard, and the compressive strength is 26.8 MPa.

        Synthesis and Cytotoxicity Evaluation of New 3-substituted 4-(4-methyloxy phenyl)-1H-Pyrrole Derivatives

        A new series of 3-substituted 4-(4-methyloxy phenyl)-1H-pyrrole derivatives were synthesized and biologically evaluated for potential anticancer activity. Fifteen targeted compounds showed high selectivity toward normal cells and cancer cells: that is, all targeted compounds had no obvious cytotoxicity toward normal human cells (HUVEC and NIH/3T3), but some compounds exhibited broad-spectrum proliferation inhibitory activity against the screened cancer cell lines. Among these pyrrole derivatives, compounds 3b and 3o showed potent anticancer activity against the MG-63 cell line, with IC50 values of 14.9 and 12.7 μM, respectively. Other pyrrole derivatives also showed promising proliferation inhibitory activity, including compound 3d against A375 (IC50 = 18.6 μM), compound 3f and 3j against MGC80-3 (IC50 = 19.9 μM), and compound 3o against MGC80-3 (IC50 = 11.9 μM). Because the developed pyrrole derivatives showed strong anticancer activity and high selectivity, this new series of pyrrole derivatives could be considered as promising lead compounds for further development of potent and safe anticancer agents.

        Combination of High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol and Lipoprotein(a) as a Predictor of Collateral Circulation in Patients With Severe Unilateral Internal Carotid Artery Stenosis or Occlusion

        Background and Purpose Collateral circulation is considered an important factor affecting the risk of stroke, but the factors that affect collateral circulation remain unclear. This study was performed to identify the factors associated with collateral circulation, especially blood lipids. Methods The study involved patients who had undergone digital subtraction angiography and were confirmed as having severe unilateral stenosis or occlusion of the internal carotid artery (ICA). We classified the collateral circulation status of each patient as good (Grade 3 or 4) or poor (Grade 0, 1, or 2) according to the grading system of the American Society of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology/American Society of Interventional Radiology. We collected data on patients’ characteristics and identified the factors that affect collateral circulation. Results This study included 212 patients. The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentration and a complete anterior half of the circle of Willis were independent protective factors for good collateral circulation, whereas elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] and serum creatinine concentrations were independent risk factors for good collateral circulation. The area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC) was 0.68 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.61–0.76) for HDL-C and 0.69 (95% CI, 0.62–0.76) for Lp(a). A binary logistic regression model analysis of the joint factor of HDL-C and Lp(a) yielded an AUC of 0.77 (95% CI, 0.71–0.84). Conclusions In patients with severe unilateral ICA stenosis or occlusion, the combination of HDL-C and Lp(a) is a useful predictor of collateral circulation.
