Analysis of the Orientational Order Parameter and the Magnetic Field as Functions of Temperature for p-anisaldazine

Hamit Yurtseven,Ethem Kaya 한국물리학회 2016 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.68 No.11

We analyze in this study the orientational order parameter and the magnetic field as functions of temperature close to the nematic-isotropic liquid (NI) transition in anisaldazine. The experimental data from the literature are analyzed by using a power-law formula for both the orientational order parameter and the magnetic field, and the critical exponents are deduced. In particular, the mean field value of = 0.5 for the critical exponent of the orientational order parameter is used, and the power-law formula is fitted to the experimental data. Our fits and the values of the critical exponents for the temperature dependence of the orientational order parameter and the magnetic field indicate weak first-order transition, and they adequately describe the observed behavior of the nematic-isotropic liquid transition in anisaldazine.

Calculation of thermodynamic quantities for carbon tetrachloride (CCl_4) close to the III-IV phase transition

Hamit Yurtseven,Ye in Dildar 한국화학공학회 2011 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.28 No.1

We calculate the thermal expansion α_p , isothermal compressibility κ_T and the specific heat, C_p-C_v, as a function of pressure using the observed V-P data at room temperature close to the III-IV phase transition in CCl_4. Calculated κ_T , α_p and Cp-Cv decrease as the pressure increases from phase III to phase IV in this molecular crystal system,as expected. On the basis of our calculations of the κ_T, α_p and C_p-C_v, the Pippard relations are established close to the III-IV phase transition in CCl_4, which can be verified experimentally.

A linear variation of the thermal expansivity with the isothermal compressibility for ammonia solid III near the melting point

Hamit Yurtseven,Önder Ça lar 한국화학공학회 2010 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.27 No.1

The thermal expansivity αp is related to isothermal compressibility κT at various pressures for constant temperatures of 254.6, 274 and 297.5 K close to the melting pressure in ammonia solid III. By analyzing the experimental data for κT according to a power-law formula, a linear variation of αp with the κT is established here close to the solid-liquid transition in ammonia. Anomalous behavior of thermal expansivity αp and the isothermal compressibility κT near the melting pressure is indicative of the λ-type transition in ammonia solid III.

Raman Frequencies Calculated at Various Pressures in Phase I of Benzene

Tari, Ozlem,Yurtseven, Hamit Korean Chemical Society 2013 대한화학회지 Vol.57 No.2

We calculate in this study the pressure dependence of the frequencies for the Raman modes of A ($A_g$), B ($A_g$, $B_{2g}$) and C ($B_{1g}$, $B_{3g}$) at constant temperatures of 274 and 294K (room temperature) for the solid phase I of benzene. Using the mode Gr$\ddot{u}$neisen parameter of each lattice mode, which correlates the pressure dependence of the crystal volume and the frequency, the Raman frequencies of those modes are computed for phase I of benzene. Our results show that the Raman frequencies of the three lattice modes (A, B and C) increase as the pressure increases, as expected. The temperature effect on the Raman frequencies is not significant, which can be explained by the experimental measurements.

Determination of Nutrient Contents and In vitro Gas Production Values of Some Legume Forages Grown in the Harran Plain Saline Soils

        Boga, M.,Yurtseven, S.,Kilic, U.,Aydemir, S.,Polat, T. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2014 Animal Bioscience Vol.27 No.6

The aim of this study was to determine the nutritive value of some legume species in salt-affected soils of South-East Anatolian region using chemical composition and in vitro gas production kinetics. In this study, Lotus corniculatus, Trifolium alexandrinum, Medicago sativa were sown and tested in four different locations. A 3 by 4 factorial design with 3 legume species and 4 salt levels (non salty electrical conductivity (EC)<4 dS/m; low salt: 4 dS/m>EC<8 dS/m, medium saline: 8 dS/m>EC<16 dS/m and high salt: 16 dS/m>EC) was used in the study. Results indicated that salinity and plants had no significant effect on ash and ether extract. Dry matter (DM), acid detergent fiber, digestible dry matter, dry matter intake (DMI) were affected by plant, salinity and plant${\times}$salinity interaction. On the other hand neutral detergent fiber, relative feed value (RFV), and DMI were affected by salinity and plant${\times}$salinity interaction. Mineral contents were affected by plant species, salinity and salinity${\times}$plants interactions. In vitro gas production, their kinetics and estimated parameters such as were not affected by salinity whereas the gas production up to 48 h, organic matter digestibility, metabolizable energy (ME), and net energy lactation ($NE_L$) were affected by plant and plant${\times}$salt interaction. Generally RFVs of all species ranged from 120 to 210 and were quite satisfactory in salty conditions. Current results show that the feed value of Medicago sativa is higher compared to Lotus corniculatus and Trifolium alexandrinum.

Pistachio, Pomegranate and Olive Byproducts Added to Sheep Rations Change the Biofunctional Properties of Milk through the Milk Amino Acid Profile

        Mücahit Kahraman,Sabri Yurtseven,Ebru Sakar,Aydın Daş,Hamza Yalçın,Gülşah Güngören,Mustafa Ünal Boyraz,İsmail Koyuncu 한국축산식품학회 2023 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.43 No.1

This study was carried out to determine the effects of adding pistachio shell (PIS), pomegranate hull (POM), and olive pulp (OP) to the diet on milk amino acid and fatty acid parameters in Awassi sheep. In the study, 40 head of Awassi sheep, which gave birth at least twice, were used as animal material. Sheep were fed a control diet without added byproducts (CON), rations containing PIS, POM, and OP. Milk amino acid profile was determined by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, milk fatty acid gas chromatography-flame ionization detection device. There was a dramatic reduction in alanine, citrulline, glutamine, glutamic acid, glycine, leucine, ornithine and alphaaminoadipic acid in the research groups. In the PIS group, argininosuccinic acid, gammaminobutyric acid, beta-alanine and sarcosine; In the POM group, asparagine, gammaminobutyric acid, beta-alanine, and taurine; In the OP group, a significant positive increase was found in terms of alanine, histidine, gammaminobutyric acid, and taurine amino acids. The applications in the study did not have a statistically significant effect on the ratio of short, medium and long chain fatty acids in milk (p>0.05). In the presented study, it was determined that PIS, POM, and OP, which were added to the sheep rations at a rate of 5%, caused significant changes in the milk amino acid profiles. In this change in milk amino acid profiles, the benefit-harm relationship should be considered.

Analysis and calculation of the magnetization, magnetic susceptibility and the specific heat close to phase transitions in heterometallics

        E. Kilit Dogan,H. Yurtseven 한국물리학회 2019 Current Applied Physics Vol.19 No.10

The temperature dependence of the magnetization for DMFeNi and DMFeCu is calculated by the molecular field theory and it is also analyzed as functions of temperature and the magnetic field by the power-law formulae close to the phase transitions in these compounds by using the observed data from the literature. From the analysis, values of the critical exponents (temperature-induced order parameter at H=100 Oe) and (field-induced order parameter at T=2 K) are deduced. Also, using the observed M-H data, magnetic susceptibility is calculated as a function of the magnetic field for DMFeNi and DMFeCu. Regarding the thermal properties of MOFs, the specific heat of DMFeFe, as an example, is calculated by an Ising model superimposed on an Einstein and/or Debye model using the observed CP data from the literature. Our analyses and calculations indicate a nearly second order (or weakly first order) transition for the heterometallics studied here.

Flexural Behavior of Laminated Wood Beams Strengthened with Novel Hybrid Composite Systems: An Experimental Study

( Mehmet Faruk Ozdemir ),( Muslum Murat Maras ),( Hasan Basri Yurtseven ) 한국목재공학회 2023 목재공학 Vol.51 No.6

Wooden structures are widely used, particularly in earthquake zones, owing to their light weight, ease of application, and resistance to the external environment. In this study, we aimed to improve the mechanical properties of laminated timber beams using novel hybrid systems [carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) and wire rope]. Within the scope of this study, it is expected that using wood, which is an environmentally friendly and sustainable building element, will be more economical and safe than the reinforced concrete and steel elements currently used to pass through wide openings. The structural behavior of the hybrid-reinforced laminated timber beams was determined under the loading system. The experimental findings showed that the highest increase in the values of laminated beams reinforced with steel ropes was obtained with the 2N reinforcement, with a maximum load of 38 kN and a displacement of 137 mm. Thus, a load increase of 168% and displacement increase of 275% compared with the reference sample were obtained. Compared with the reference sample, a load increase of 92% and a displacement increase of 14% were obtained. Carbon fabrics placed between the layers with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) prevented crack development and provided significant interlayer connections. Consequently, the fabrics placed between the laminated wooden beams with the innovative reinforcement system will not disrupt the aesthetics or reduce the effect of earthquake forces, and significant reductions can be achieved in these sections.
