Synthesis, Structures and Photoluminescent Properties of Two Novel Zinc(II) Compounds Constructed from 5-Sulfoisophthalic Acid

        Yu-Lan Zhu,Xue-Ling Tang,Kui-Rong Ma,Hao Chen,Feng Ma,Lian-Hua Zhao 대한화학회 2010 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.31 No.7

Hydrothermal reaction of zinc(II) salts with 5-sulfoisophthalic acid monosodium salt (NaO3SC6H3-1,3-(COOH)2, NaH2-SIP) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) led to two new compounds, [Zn(phen)3]·2H2SIP·4H2O (1) and [Zn(phen)2(H2O)2]·2H2SIP·2H2O (2). They were characterized by element analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermalgravimetric analysis (TGA),X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both compounds 1-2 represent the first example of Zn/phen/SIP system. The Zn (II) ion in 1 is six-coordinated by six nitrogen atoms from three phen molecules, and the H2SIP‒ ligands engage in the formation of hydrogen bond. The Zn(II) ion in 2 is coordinated by four nitrogen atoms from two phen molecules and two oxygen atoms from two water molecules. Moreover, both 1 and 2 are assembled into 3D supramolecular architectures by hydrogen bonds (O-H···O) and π-π interactions. Solvent water molecules occupying voids of the compounds serve as receptors or donors of the extensive O-H···O hydrogen bonds.

Syntheses, Structures and Luminescent Properties of Two Novel M(II)-Phen-SIP Supramolecular Compounds (M = Co, Ni)

        Yu-Lan Zhu,Shuai Shao,Kui-Rong Ma,Xue-Ling Tang,Li Cao,Hui-Chao Zhao 대한화학회 2012 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.33 No.4

Two metal compounds, [Co(phen)2(H2O)2]·2H2SIP·2H2O 1 and [Ni(phen)3]·2H2SIP·3H2O 2, have been obtained by incorporating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and 5-sulfoisophthalic acid monosodium salt (NaH2SIP) ligands under hydrothermal conditions. Meanwhile, the two compounds were characterized by element analysis, IR, XRD, TG-DTA and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both 1 and 2 present 3D supramolecular structures via O–H···O hydrogen bond interactions. Luminescent properties for 1 and 2 were also studied. The compound 1 has two fluorescence emission peaks centered at 398 nm attributed to the intraligand emission from the SIP ligand and at 438 nm assigned to the combined interaction of intraligand π*-π transitions of the phen ligand and ligand-to-metal-charge-transfer (LMCT) transitions (λex = 233 nm). The compound 2 shows one emission band centered at 423 nm with a shoulder peak at 434 nm which may be originated from the intraligand π*-π transitions of the phen ligand (λex = 266 nm).

Fabrication of recyclable UiO-66-NH2/PVDF hybrid fibrous membrane for Cr(VI) removal in wastewater

        Fan Yu,Liusha Cen,Caihong Lei,Feichao Zhu,Lan Zhou,Hailin Zhu,Bin Yu 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.123 No.-

Efficient and recyclable water treatment technology plays a vital role in practical application of Cr(Ⅵ)removal. Zr-based metal–organic framework (UiO-66-NH2) is widely used in wastewater treatmentdue to its water stability. Powdery UiO-66-NH2 has disadvantages of easy aggregation, reclamation difficultyand secondary pollution. In this work, UiO-66-NH2 was successfully loaded on electrospunpolyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) fibers by in-situ growth to achieve efficient adsorption and photoreductionof Cr(Ⅵ). Grooved surface of PVDF fibers and truncated octahedron shape of UiO-66-NH2 ensuredthe loading uniformity and firmness. The loading rate and size of UiO-66-NH2 crystals increased withthe amount of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) in the preparation process. Meantime, the introduction of TFAin synthesis was conducive to the separation efficiency of photogenerated carries. When the additionamount of TFA was 5 ml, UiO-PVDF-3 with loading rate of 44.8% exhibited best Cr(VI) adsorption andphotocatalysis performance. For the pure adsorption process, the adsorption capacity of UiO-PVDF-3 at90 min was 3.76 mg/cm2, and the corresponding removal rate was 95.8%. When visible light was applied, the Cr(VI) removal rate for UiO-PVDF-3 reached to about 95.0% at 45 min. Furthermore, regenerationexperiments showed UiO-PVDF-3 had excellent adsorption and photocatalysis reusability. Based on thismethod, synthesized UiO-66-NH2/PVDF hybrid membrane as a bifunctional material for adsorption andphotocatalysis realizes the reuse of UiO-66-NH2 crystals conveniently and avoids secondary pollutionduring Cr(VI) wastewater treatment.

      • Alkaloids from Beach Spider Lily (Hymenocallis littoralis) Induce Apoptosis of HepG-2 Cells by the Fas-signaling Pathway

        Ji, Yu-Bin,Chen, Ning,Zhu, Hong-Wei,Ling, Na,Li, Wen-Lan,Song, Dong-Xue,Gao, Shi-Yong,Zhang, Wang-Cheng,Ma, Nan-Nan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.21

Alkaloids are the most extensively featured compounds of natural anti-tumor herbs, which have attracted much attention in pharmaceutical research. In our previous studies, a mixture of major three alkaloid components (5, 6-dihydrobicolorine, 7-deoxy-trans-dihydronarciclasine, littoraline) from Hymenocallis littoralis were extracted, analyzed and designated as AHL. In this paper, AHL extracts were added to human liver hepatocellular cells HepG-2, human gastric cancer cell SGC-7901, human breast adenocarcinoma cell MCF-7 and human umbilical vein endothelial cell EVC-304, to screen one or more AHL-sensitive tumor cell. Among these cells, HepG-2 was the most sensitive to AHL treatment, a very low dose ($0.8{\mu}g/ml$) significantly inhibiting proliferation. The non-tumor cell EVC-304, however, was not apparently affected. Effect of AHL on HepG-2 cells was then explored. We found that the AHL could cause HepG-2 cycle arrest at G2/M checkpoint, induce apoptosis, and interrupt polymerization of microtubules. In addition, expression of two cell cycle-regulated proteins, CyclinB1 and CDK1, was up-regulated upon AHL treatment. Up-regulation of the Fas, Fas ligand, Caspase-8 and Caspase-3 was observed as well, which might imply roles for the Fas/FsaL signaling pathway in the AHL-induced apoptosis of HepG-2 cells.

      • Efficacy and Safety of Sorafenib for Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: a Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

        Wang, Wei-Lan,Tang, Zhi-Hui,Xie, Ting-Ting,Xiao, Bing-Kun,Zhang, Xin-Yu,Guo, Dai-Hong,Wang, Dong-Xiao,Pei, Fei,Si, Hai-Yan,Zhu, Man Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.14

Background: Many clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate sorafenib for the treatment of advanced NSCLC, but the results for efficacy have been inconsistent. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sorafenib in patients with advanced NSCLC in more detail by meta-analysis. Methods: This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was performed after searching PubMed, EMBASE, ASCO Abstracts, ESMO Abstracts, and the proceedings of major conferences for relevant clinical trials. Two reviewers independently assessed the quality of the trials. Outcomes analysis were disease control rate (DCR), progression- free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) and major toxicity. Subgroup analysis was conducted according to sorafenib monotherapy, in combination with chemotherapy or EGFR-TKI to investigate the preferred therapy strategy. Results: Results reported from 6 RCTs involving 2, 748 patients were included in the analysis. Compared to sorafenib-free group, SBT was not associated with higher DCR (RR 1.31 (0.96- 1.79), p=0.09), PFS (HR 0.82 (0.66-1.02), p=0.07) and OS (HR 1.01 (0.92-1.12), p=0.77). In terms of subgroup results, sorafenib monotherapy was associated with significant superior DCR and longer PFS, but failed to show advantage with regard to OS. Grade 3 or greater sorafenib-related adverse events included fatigue, hypertension, diarrhea, oral mucositis, rash and HFSR. Conclusions: SBT was revealed to yield no improvement in DCR, PFS and OS. However, sorafenib as monotherapy showed some activity in NSCLC. Further evaluation may be considered in subsets of patients who may benefit from this treatment. Sorafenib combined inhibition therapy should be limited unless the choice of platinum-doublet regimen, administration sequence or identification of predictive biomarkers are considered to receive better anti-tumor activity and prevention of resistance mechanisms.

      • Effect of Diallyl Trisulfide on Human Ovarian Cancer SKOV-3/DDP Cell Apoptosis

        Wan, Hui-Fang,Yu, Le-Han,Wu, Jin-Lan,Tu, Shuo,Zhu, Wie-Feng,Zhang, Xia-Li,Wan, Fu-Sheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.12

Aim: To investigate the effects of diallyl trisulfide (DT) on apoptosis of cisplatin (DDP)-resistant human epithelial ovarian cancer SKOV-3 cells (SKOV-3/DDP), and the role of p53 upregulated modulator of apoptosis (PUMA). Methods: SKOV-3/DDP cells were randomly divided into control, DT, DPP and DPP+DT groups, which were treated with DT or combined DT and DDP. All cells were incubated for 48 h. and apoptosis rates were assessed by flow cytometry. mRNA and protein expression of PUMA, Bax and Bcl-2 was determined by RT-PCR and Western blot assays, respectively. Results: Compared with control group, the apoptosis rates of SKOV-3/DDP cells in DT groups were obviously increased, with dose-dependence (P < 0.05), the mRNA and protein expressions of PUMA, Bax also being up-regulated (P < 0.05), while those of Bcl-2 were down-regulated (P < 0.05). Compared with DT groups, the apoptosis rate in the DDP+DT group was significantly increased (P < 0.05). After knockdown of PUMA with specific siRNA, the apoptosis rate of SKOV-3/DDP cells was obviously decreased (P < 0.05). Conclusion: DT can promote the apoptosis of SKOV-3/DDP cells with PUMA playing a critical role.
