Absorption behavior of benzene polycarbofylic acids such as benzoic, phthalic, trimesic, hemimellitic, trimellitic, pyromellitic, and mellitic acid, on Amberlite CG-400 and on XAD-2 was studied. In order to investigate sorption mechanism of these acids, effect of pH, concentration of MeOH, and other inorganic ion on long D value were studied. 국내 원자력발전소의 사용후핵연료 선원항 평가에 관한 연구

우리나라에서도 원자력발전이 상용화된지 이십여년을 넘어서면서 원자력발전을 하고 있는 다른 나라와 마찬가지로 사용후핵연료 관리가 국가적인 문제로 심각히 대두되고 있다. 중간저장 시설은 1997년부터 운영예정이었으나 현재 그의 부지가 아직 확보되지 못한 상태에서 그 운전개시 시점이 불확실하다. 그리고 중간저장 이후의 사용후핵연료 정기관리 전략이 아직 마련되어 있지 못한 실정이다. 그러므로 발전소에서 발생되는 사용후핵연료 양과 그에 따른 선원항 평가는 반드시 선행되어야 할 것이다. 이제 본 연구에서는 국내 사용후핵연료 형태중 17×17에 대해서 농축도와 연소도 그리고 냉각시간별로 선원항 평가를 하였다. 사용후핵연료 선원항 평가를 위해 미국 Nuclear Regulatory Commission(NRC)의 인·허가 코드인 SCALE 코드를 이용하였다. 선원항 평가는 SCALE 코드의 모듈을 이용하였다. 선원항 평가 결과 농축도와 3.5 w/o와 연소도 35 GWD/MTU 일때 Cooling Time 0.3년은 7.5651E+16, 1년 2.8954E+16, 3년 9.8242E+15, 5년 5.4000E+15, 10년 3.0945E+15으로 계산되었으며, Cooling Time이 0.3년일때와 10년일때의 Source Term이 크게 차이가 남을 알 수 있었다. 방사선량율은 10 ㎝부터 500 ㎝ 까지 거리에 따라 선량율에 대하여 10 ㎝ 4.8365E+03(㏉/hr)에서 500 ㎝ 7.8456E+01으로 감소함을 알 수 있었다. 현재 국내 사용후핵연료에 대한 선원항 평가가 이루어지지 않았으며, Data Base 구축이 기초단계 이므로 이러한 기초자료는 추후 저장조가 건설되면 사용후핵연료 안전성과 관련하여 사용할 수 있는 것이고 기초 Data Base구축하는데 이용할 수 있을 것이다 As nuclear power has been used in our country over 20 years, spent fuel management is raised seriously as one of the national`s problems, which lies in similar situation to other countries having nuclear power plants. An interim storage facility has been planned to operate in 1997, it is highly uncertain whether this facility will start to operate by the time because the site has not been decided yet. After the intermediate storage, the spent fuel periodical management strategy has not prepared yet. Therefore it has to be preceded that the spent fuel quantity which is happening at the power station and the following source term. Now the main have evaluated the source term according to enrichment, burn-up, and cooling time for 17×17 of spent fuel form. I used the SCALE code which were certified by Nuclear Regulatory Commission(NRC) for the source term calculations of Spent Fuel. The source term was calculated, which reflected the feature of target nuclear fuel using ORIGEN-S, a module of the SCALE Code, and the exposure dose rates were calculated by using the QADS modules, considering the geometry. When the enrichment in the evaluated result of source term is 3.5 w/o and the burn-up is 35 GWD/MTU, the cooling time 0.3year is 7.561E+16(photon/second), 1year 2.8954E+16, 3year 9.8242E+15, 5year 5.400E+15, 10year 3.0945E+15 and found that the big difference in Photon Spectrum of cooling time 0.3year and 10year. I have found that radiation dose rate is decreased in 10㎝ 4.8365E+03(㏉/hr) into 500 ㎝ 7.8456E+01 for dose rate according to distance from 10 ㎝ to 500 ㎝. It is not made the source term evaluation on the domestic spent fuel, and since the data base construction is basic level, some time later, if the storage place is constructed, in connection with the safety, these basic data can be used and we can construct these basic data base.

In this study, we prepared biodegradable polysaccharide films with pullulan, κ-carrageenan, curdlan and chitosan and measured physical properties and antibacterial activity All of polysaccharide films showed the high biodegradability but antibacterial activity on bacteria was only observed at chitosan film. The permeability of the gas(O₂and C0₂) of polysaccharide films besides chitosan film showed 50∼100 times lower than polyethylene(PE) film. Therefore, we prepared two film types to give low gas permeability and antibacterial property at polysaccharide film : one type was the physically mixed film(k-carrageenan +chitosan) and other type was the chitosan coated κ-carrageenan film. Chitosan coated κ-carrageenan film showed low gas permeability and antibacterial activity.

Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP) is an autoimmune bleeding disorder characterized by the development of antibodies to one's own platelets, which are then destroyed by phagocytosis in the spleen and liver. Its clinical manifestations are characterized by bleeding and the most serious complication is hemorrhage into the central nervous system, but which is rarely seen below 1%. In treating IPT, the therapy of first chice is administration of adrenocorticosteroid and r-globuline. If satisfactory results are not obtained, then splenectomy is recommended. If this also proves inadequate, then administration of immunosuppressants is carried out. 16-year-old male was admitted with complaints of left hemiplegia and nasal bleeding. This case may be developed spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage causing thrombocytopenia and was treated by steroid, r-globuline and splenectomy, but satisfactory results are not obtained. After all, the paient was successfully treated with cyclophosphamide.
Comparison of Bird community in Urban and Non-Urban area at Young-San river

This Study was carried out for the period from June 2003 until March 2005 aimed at comparing the characteristics of birds communities between non-urban district and urban district in the Yeongsan River basin, grasping the influence on the birds in the urban district basin, and ultimately exploring the method of preserving and managing the birds in a proper manner. The number of birds observed in this study recorded 83 species 19,322 individuals in total where the number of species were 73 in non-urban district while 71 in urban district. For the number of individuals showing larger number in urban district, 7,409 were in non-urban district while 11,913 were in urban district. For the species diversity, urban district was 2.62 while non-urban district was 3.01 showing high degree in non-urban district. For the number of individuals by bird group, Herons and Ducks were higher in the Site 6 (urban)/Site 7 (urban) while Raptors were higher in the Site 3 (non-urban) and Site 8 (urban), and Shorebirds were higher in the Site 3 (non-urban). Forest birds were found the highest in the Site 1 (non-urban), while Others higher in the Site 1 (non-urban), Site 6 (urban), and Site 8 (urban). With regard to species composition by districts, those in non-urban district consisted of Forest birds (46.1 %), Ducks (43.4%), Herons (5.3%), Shorebirds (2.6%), Others (2.2%), and Raptors (0.4%) in order of high to low composition, while urban district consisted of Ducks (75.5%), Forest birds (16.1%), Herons (5.3%), Others (2.2%), Shorebirds (0.7%), and Raptors (0.2%) in the afore-mentioned order. In result, a great difference was shown between non-urban district and urban district in the Yeongsan River basin. Accordingly when implementing environmental improvement in urban district, it is deemed necessary to do it taking the inhabiting environment of non-urban district into account in order for a stable maintenance, preservation, and management of the birds communities.

We report on experimental investigations of exchange-bias formations in different layered structures of Ta/NiFe/CoFe/Cu/CoFe/FeMn/Ta and Ta/NiFe/FeMn/Co by in-situ visible light magneto-optical Kerr effect. It is found that exchange bias (a kind of unidirectional anisotropy) can be controlled by aligning the magnetization orientations of ferromagnetic layers during cooling through the blocking temperatures, as well as by applying a suffcient magnetic field during the film growth. For the structure of a magnetic NiFe/FeMn/Co trilayer, oppositely oriented exchange bias of the two ferromagnetic NiFe and Co layers is found to be set with the single antiferromagnetic FeMn layer through the oppositely oriented remnant magnetizations of the two ferromagnetic layers while cooling. These results reveal that the exchange bias and its unidirectional orientation can be determined by interfacial uncompensated antiferromagnetic spins in contact with ferromagnets, which are locked in by the magnetization orientations of ferromagnets during the film growth or subsequent cooling.

Cough syncope is characterized by the loss of consciousness occurring after vigorous coughings. There are approximately 90 reported cases of cough syncope within the medical literature. Most cases involving middle aged, overweight and chronic bronchitic male smokers. Although many studies have been published in the medical literature, the mechanism and pathophysiology for cough syncope has not been well established. Cough syncope is treated by correcting the underlying cause when identified, or by avoiding conditions that may cause the cough syncope. In addition, cough suppression modalities can also be used. We herein report 3 cases of cough syncope presenting in lung cancer patients.
