Non-Hodgkin's 림프종의 약 40%는 결절외(extranodal) 림프종으로 대개 위장관에서 발생하며 이들 중 점막 연관 림프조직(mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue: MALT)에서 기원한 림프종은 MALT 림프종으로 분류된다. 위 외의 부위에서 원발성으로 발생하는 MALT 림프종은 매우 드물지만 실제 거의 모든 신체 장기에 발생하는 것으로 알려져 있는데, 가장 흔한 부위인 위 외에도 폐, 갑상선, 침샘, 눈물샘에 발생하고, 드물게 안구, 유방, 방광, 신장, 흉선 등에도 보고된 바 있다. MALT 림프종은 오랜 기간동안 원격 전이하지 않고 국소 병변으로 남아 있는 특징이 있어 치료 방향 또한 국소 병변의 치료에 집중되며, 예후도 림프절 기원의 림프종에 비해 양호한 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 저자 등은 자궁 내막에 원발성으로 발생한 MALT 림프종 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 이를 보고하고자 한다. Mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma can rarely develop primarily in extranodal sites other than stomach which is the most common site for it. Other rare primary sites are small intestine, colorectum, esophagus, lung, thyroid, salivary gland, lacrymal gland, breast and skin. MALT lymphoma represents a distinct clinicopathologic features: it is usually localized to their original site for a long time and shows much more favorable prognosis than lymphoma at other site, but some MALT lymphoma can arise simultaneously or successively in different organ or give rise to another MALT lymphoma of other organ and can be multifocally disseminated or recurred. We report a very rare case of high grade B-cell lymphoma of mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) of the uterine endometrium, which was confirmed by immunohistochemical assay.
정신분열병 환자에서 세가지 청각 자극 "Oddball" 모형에 의한 사건관련전위 P3a와 P3b

Objectives : Using 3-stimulus auditory "oddball" paradigm reflecting fronto/central and temporo/parietal functions Simultaneously, we examined patients with schizophrenia. Methods : fifteen patients with schizophrenia from outpatient clinic and fifteen normal controls from hospital staffs were recruited for the study. To elicit P3a and P3b, 3-stimulus auditory oddball paradigm was employed. The 3-stimulus auditory oddball paradigm was composed of standard tone (1,000 Hz, 75 dB, 80%), target tone (2,000 Hz, 75 dB, 10%) and distracter (White noise, 95 dB, 10%). Results : P3a and P3b were prominent in fronto/central and temporo/parietal areas, respectively, in both schizophrenics and normal controls. The P300 amplitude in patients with schizophrenia was reduced across P3a and P3b (p<0.01). The P300latency in patients with schizophrenia was delayed across P3a and P3b (p<0.01). Conclusion : These results were consistent with frontal and temporo-parietal lobe dysfunctions in schizophrenics. The 3-stimulus auditory paradigm could be applied for patients with schizophrenia and useful for further exploration the disorder.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>To meet the high requirements of future lithium secondary batteries based on lithium metal anodes for large-scale applications, we develop a cost-effective and environmentally friendly water-based method to prepare inorganic/polymer composite coating layers on commercial hydrophobic polyolefin-based microporous separators. To this end, we utilize a plasma-treatment technique. After the plasma treatment, the surface of the polyethylene (PE) separators changes from hydrophobic to hydrophilic, and the pore structures of the separators widen. These changes improve the affinity of the PE separators for polar liquid electrolytes and their ionic conductivities compared to those of bare PE and other ceramic-coated control systems. The polar functional groups derived from plasma treatment interact with the hydroxyl groups of water-soluble polymeric binders in the ceramic (Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>) coating layers, thereby improving the adhesion strength between the PE substrate and the ceramic coating layer. This improvement impedes hydrophobic recovery phenomena. As a result, plasma-treated ceramic-coated separators (plasma CCSs) exhibit superior power capability and cycle performance (plasma CCS maintained 94.7% of the initial discharge capacity up to the 1000th cycle at C/2, whereas bare PE’s remained high only up to the 300th cycle) in unit cells based on lithium metal anodes.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Plasma treatment technique realizes a 100% water-based ceramic coating process. </LI> <LI> Plasma treatment enhances the adhesion properties of ceramic coating layer. </LI> <LI> Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> coating layers impedes hydrophobic recovery after plasma treatment. </LI> <LI> Plasma-treated Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> layers improves cycle performance and rate capabilities. </LI> </UL> </P>

In this case report, we aimed to report a total spinal block, an unusual complication. Total spinal anesthesia is a well documented serious life threatening complication which results from an attempted spinal or epidural analgesia. We had an accidental total spinal anesthesia associated with a cranial nerve paralysis and an eventual unconsciousness during spinal block. We experienced successful recovery from anesthesia without any adverse effect. We report our clinical experience, including brief review of the relevant literature.

The P300 event-related brain potential (ERP) was employed to assess stimulus modality effects in patients with schizophrenia as compared to those in controls. The major purpose of this study was to assay frontal and temporal/parietal dysfunctions and characterize the resulting statistical effect sizes. Simple auditory and visual oddball stimulus discrimination paradigms were presented to patients with schizophrenia (N=20) and normal controls (N=20). The 2-stimulus auditory oddball paradigm was composed of a standard tone (1,000 Hz, 75 dB, 80%) and a target tone (2,000 Hz, 75 dB, 20%). The 2-stimulus visual oddball paradigm was composed of a standard stimulus (small circle, 80%) and a target stimulus (large circle, 20%). The P300 amplitudes in the schizophrenics were smaller than those in the controls for both modalities. The group differences produced larger effect sizes over the temporal/parietal areas than over the frontal areas in both the auditory and visual modalities. Although the patients with schizophrenia demonstrated smaller P300 amplitudes compared to the controls for both the auditory and visual stimuli, the strength of the modality difference was not significant. The P300 assessment of patients could be useful for further studies on temporal/parietal dysfunction, but the use of other paradigms for the evaluation of frontal dysfunction in schizophrenia should also be explored.
