        RESULTS ON THE ALGEBRAIC DIFFERENTIAL INDEPENDENCE OF THE RIEMANN ZETA FUNCTION AND THE EULER GAMMA FUNCTION

        In 2010, Li-Ye \cite[Theorem 0.1]{LiYe2010} proved that \begin{equation}\nonumber P\left(\zeta(z),\zeta'(z),\ldots,\zeta^{(m)}(z),\Gamma(z),\Gamma'(z),\Gamma^{''}(z)\right) \not\equiv 0\quad\text{in }\ \mathbb{C}, \end{equation} where $m$ is a non-negative integer, and $P(u_{0},u_{1}, \ldots, u_{m},v_{0},v_{1},v_{2})$ is any non-trivial polynomial in its arguments with coefficients in the field $\mathbb{C}$. Later on, Li-Ye \cite[Theorem 1]{LiYe2016} proved that \begin{equation}\nonumber P\left(z,\Gamma(z),\Gamma'(z),\ldots,\Gamma^{(n)}(z), \zeta(z)\right)\not\equiv 0 \end{equation} in $z\in \mathbb{C}$ for any non-trivial distinguished polynomial $P(z,u_0, u_1,\ldots$, $u_n, v)$ with coefficients in a set $L_\delta$ of the zero function and a class of non-zero functions $f$ from $\mathbb{C}$ to $\mathbb{C}\cup\{\infty\}$ (cf.~\cite[Definition 1]{LiYe2016}). In this paper, we prove that $P\left(z,\zeta(z),\zeta'(z),\ldots,\zeta^{(m)}(z),\Gamma(z),\Gamma'(z),\ldots,\Gamma^{(n)}(z)\right)\not\equiv 0$ in $z\in\mathbb{C}$, where $m$ and $n$ are two non-negative integers, and $$P(z, u_0,u_1,\ldots,u_m,v_0,v_1,\ldots,v_n)$$ is any non-trivial polynomial in the $m+n+2$ variables $$u_0,u_1,\ldots,u_m,v_0,v_1,\ldots,v_n$$ with coefficients being meromorphic functions of order less than one, and the polynomial $P(z, u_0,u_1,\ldots,u_m,v_0,v_1,\ldots,v_n)$ is a distinguished polynomial in the $n+1$ variables $v_0,v_1,\ldots, v_n$. The question studied in this paper is concerning the conjecture of Markus from \cite{Markus2007}. The main results obtained in this paper also extend the corresponding results from Li-Ye \cite{LiYe2008} and improve the corresponding results from Chen-Wang \cite{Chen2021} and Wang-Li-Liu-Li \cite{Wang2021}, respectively.

      • Preoperative BRAF Mutation is Predictive of Occult Contralateral Carcinoma in Patients with Unilateral Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma

        Background and Objective: The optimal resection extent for clinically unilateral papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) remains controversial. The objective was to investigate risk factors associated with occult contralateral carcinoma, and put emphasis on the predictive value of preoperative BRAF mutation. Materials and Methods: 100 clinically unilateral PTMC patients all newly diagnosed, previously untreated were analyzed in a prospective cohort study. We assessed the T1799A BRAF mutation status in FNAB specimens obtained from all PTMC patients before undergoing total thyroidectomy (TT) and central lymph node dissection (CLND) for PTMC. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to reveal the incidence of contralateral occult cancer, difference of risk factors and predictive value, with respect to the following variables: preoperative BRAF mutation status, age, gender, tumor size, multifocality of primary tumor, capsular invasion, presence of Hashimoto thyroiditis and central lymph node metastasis. Results: 20 of 100 patients (20%) had occult contralateral lobe carcinoma. On multi-variate analysis, preoperative BRAF mutation (p = 0.030, OR = 3.439) and multifocality of the primary tumor (p = 0.004, OR = 9.570) were independent predictive factors for occult contralateral PTMC presence. However, there were no significant differences between the presence of occult contralateral carcinomas and age, gender, tumor size, capsular invasion, Hashimoto thyroiditis and central lymph node metastasis. Conclusions: Total thyroidectomy, including the contralateral lobe, should be considered for the treatment of unilateral PTMC if preoperative BRAF mutation is positive and/or if the observed lesion presents as a multifocal tumor in the unilateral lobe.

        Study on the micro-scale simulation of wind field over complex terrain by RAMS/FLUENT modeling system

        A meteorological model, RAMS, and a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model, FLUENT are combined as a one-way off-line nested modeling system, namely, RAMS/FLUENT system. The system is experimentally applied in the wind simulation over a complex terrain, with which numerical simulations of wind field over Foyeding weather station located in the northwest mountainous area of Beijing metropolis are performed. The results show that the method of combining a meteorological model and a CFD model as a modeling system is reasonable. In RAMS/FLUENT system, more realistic boundary conditions are provided for FLUENT rather than idealized vertical wind profiles, and the finite volume method (FVM) of FLUENT ensures the capability of the modeling system on describing complex terrain in the simulation. Thus, RAMS/FLUENT can provide fine-scale realistic wind data over complex terrains.

        Comparative effectiveness of Chinese herbal injections treating for rotavirus enteritis in children: A systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis

        Background: Rotavirus enteritis (RVE) accounts for 37% of all death in children (<5 years) with diarrhea. Chinese herbal injections (CHIs) have drawn more attention from practitioners because of the valid effects for RVE. However, the most beneficial one has not yet been determined. Methods: Eight databases were searched from their inception up to September 3, 2022. The primary outcome was clinical effective rate and the secondary outcomes were time for disappearance of diarrhea, time of defervescence, time for disappearance of vomiting, and adverse drug reactions or adverse drug events. OpenBUGS 3.2.3 and STATA 14.0 software were employed to carry out the NMA. Results: 58 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with 6436 child patients were included in this Bayesian NMA. Four CHIs were investigated including Yanhuning injection (YHN), Xiyanping injection (XYP), Reduning injection (RDN), and Zedoary Turmeric Oil injection (ZTO). The results showed that YHN [OR=6.16, 95% CI (4.39, 8.77)] had a superior effect in improving clinical effective rate compared to Ribavirin based on Western medicine (WM). According to SUCRA values, YHN (84.1%) ranked highest. As for the secondary outcomes, XYP was the better intervention in shortening the time for disappearance of diarrhea. Regarding time for defervescence, RDN had obvious advantages and also performed well in time for disappearance of vomiting. Conclusions: CHIs combined with WM could be beneficial than Ribavirin in improving clinical effective rate, and YHN was the optimum treatment. From the comprehensive evaluations of both the clinical effective rate and other outcomes, YHN also indicated a favorable therapeutic effect in RVE.         Polymorphisms in Epigenetic and Meat Quality Related Genes in Fourteen Cattle Breeds and Association with Beef Quality and Carcass Traits

        Improvement for carcass traits related to beef quality is the key concern in beef production. Recent reports found that epigenetics mediates the interaction of individuals with environment and nutrition. The present study was designed to analyze the genetic effect of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in seven epigenetic-related genes (DNMT1, DNMT3a, DNMT3b, DNMT3L, Ago1, Ago2, and HDAC5) and two meat quality candidate genes (CAPN1 and PRKAG3) on fourteen carcass traits related to beef quality in a Snow Dragon beef population, and also to identify SNPs in a total of fourteen cattle populations. Sixteen SNPs were identified and genotyped in 383 individuals sampled from the 14 cattle breeds, which included 147 samples from the Snow Dragon beef population. Data analysis showed significant association of 8 SNPs within 4 genes related to carcass and/or meat quality traits in the beef populations. SNP1 (13154420A>G) in exon 17 of DNMT1 was significantly associated with rib-eye width and lean meat color score (p<0.05). A novel SNP (SNP4, 76198537A>G) of DNMT3a was significantly associated with six beef quality traits. Those individuals with the wild-type genotype AA of DNMT3a showed an increase in carcass weight, chilled carcass weight, flank thicknesses, chuck short rib thickness, chuck short rib score and in chuck flap weight in contrast to the GG genotype. Five out of six SNPs in DNMT3b gene were significantly associated with three beef quality traits. SNP15 (45219258C>T) in CAPN1 was significantly associated with chuck short rib thickness and lean meat color score (p<0.05). The significant effect of SNP15 on lean meat color score individually and in combination with each of other 14 SNPs qualify this SNP to be used as potential marker for improving the trait. In addition, the frequencies of most wild-type alleles were higher than those of the mutant alleles in the native and foreign cattle breeds. Seven SNPs were identified in the epigenetic-related genes. The SNP15 in CAPN1 could be used as a powerful genetic marker in selection programs for beef quality improvement in the Snow Dragon Beef population.

        Kinesin superfamily member 15 knockdown inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

        The aim of this study was to investigate the role of kinesin superfamily member 15 (KIF15) in nasopharyngeal carcinogenesis (NPC) and explore its underlying mechanisms. We employed various assays, including the CCK-8 assay, flow cytometry, the Transwell and scratch assay, Western blotting, and nude mice transplantation tumor, to investigate the impact of KIF15 on NPC. Our findings demonstrate that KIF15 plays a critical role in the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion of NPC cells. Furthermore, we discovered that silencing KIF15 inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion while promoting apoptosis, and that KIF15's effect on NPC cell growth is mediated through the PI3K/AKT and P53 signaling pathways. Additionally, we showed that KIF15 promotes nasopharyngeal cancer cell growth in vivo. Our study sheds light on the significance of KIF15 in NPC by revealing that KIF15 knockdown inhibits NPC cell growth through the regulation of AKT-related signaling pathways. These findings suggest that KIF15 represents a promising therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of NPC.         Apatinib Combined with Local Irradiation Leads to Systemic Tumor Control via Reversal of Immunosuppressive Tumor Microenvironment in Lung Cancer

        Purpose This study aimed to investigate the potential systemic antitumor effects of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) and apatinib (a novel vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 inhibitor) via reversing the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment for lung carcinoma. Materials and Methods Lewis lung cancer cells were injected into C57BL/6 mice in the left hindlimb (primary tumor; irradiated) and in the right flank (secondary tumor; nonirradiated). When both tumors grew to the touchable size, mice were randomly divided into eight treatment groups. These groups received normal saline or three distinct doses of apatinib (50 mg/kg, 150 mg/kg, and 200 mg/kg) daily for 7 days, in combination with a single dose of 15 Gy radiotherapy or not to the primary tumor. The further tumor growth/regression of mice were followed and observed. Results For the single 15 Gy modality, tumor growth delay could only be observed at the primary tumor. When combining SABR and apatinib 200 mg/kg, significant retardation of both primary and secondary tumor growth could be observed, indicated an abscopal effect was induced. Mechanism analysis suggested that programmed death-ligand 1 expression increased with SABR was counteract by additional apatinib therapy. Furthermore, when apatinib was combined with SABR, the composition of immune cells could be changed. More importantly, this two-pronged approach evoked tumor antigen–specific immune responses and the mice were resistant to another tumor rechallenge, finally, long-term survival was improved. Conclusion Our results suggested that the tumor microenvironment could be managed with apatinib, which was effective in eliciting an abscopal effect induced by SABR.
