Synthesis and Quality of Cr-doped AlN Thin Films Grown by RF Sputtering
Pham Hong Quang,Tran Quang Hung,Ngo Xuan Dai,Tran Hoai Thanh,Kim CheolGi 한국자기학회 2007 Journal of Magnetics Vol.12 No.4
The AlCrN films were grown by RF reactive sputtering method under the selected conditions. The Cr concentration was varied by the number of Cr pieces placed on the Al target. The sample quality has been studied by XRD, Auger spectroscopy, optical absorption and electrical resistant measurements. The XRD and Auger results show that the samples consist of a major phase with the Al1-xCrxN formula, which has a hexagonal structure, and a few percents at. of oxygen, which may form Al₂O₃. There exist the Cr clusters in the samples with high concentration of Cr. The optical absorption measurement provides the information about the band gap that relates strongly to the quality of samples. The quality of samples is also clearly reflected in electrical measurement, i.e., the temperature dependence of resistance exhibits a semiconductor characteristic only for the samples that have no Cr cluster. In these cases, the values of ionization energies Ea can be derived from R(T) plots by using the function R(T) = Ro exp (Ea/kBT).

A user interface that connects a user to intelligent robots needs to be designed for executing them efficiently. In this paper, it is analyzed how to organize a mobile terminal based user interface according to the function and level of autonomy of intelligent robots and the user interface of PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) and smart phone is developed for controlling intelligent robots remotely. In the image-based user interface, a user can see the motion of a robot directly and control the robot. In the map-based interface, the quantity of transmission information is reduced and therefore a user can control the robot with a small delay of transmission time.
FPGA Design and Implementation of a Real-Time Stereo Vision System
Seunghun Jin,Junguk Cho,Xuan Dai Pham,Kyoung Mu Lee,Sung-Kee Park,Munsang Kim,Jae Wook Jeon IEEE 2010 IEEE transactions on circuits and systems for vide Vol.20 No.1
<P>Stereo vision is a well-known ranging method because it resembles the basic mechanism of the human eye. However, the computational complexity and large amount of data access make real-time processing of stereo vision challenging because of the inherent instruction cycle delay within conventional computers. In order to solve this problem, the past 20 years of research have focused on the use of dedicated hardware architecture for stereo vision. This paper proposes a fully pipelined stereo vision system providing a dense disparity image with additional sub-pixel accuracy in real-time. The entire stereo vision process, such as rectification, stereo matching, and post-processing, is realized using a single field programmable gate array (FPGA) without the necessity of any external devices. The hardware implementation is more than 230 times faster when compared to a software program operating on a conventional computer, and shows stronger performance over previous hardware-related studies.</P>
A Novel Chitosan-Gossypol Based Nanocarrier for Anticancer Curcumin Drug Delivery
( Ngoan Thi Nguyen ),( Lam Dai Tran ),( Duong Quang Le ),( Dien Gia Pham ),( Phuc Xuan Nguyen ),( Jun Seo Park ),( Jae Kweon Park ) 한국키틴키토산학회 2012 한국키틴키토산학회지 Vol.17 No.2
Gossypol chitosan (GPCS) nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized at the size of 20-40 nm through amidation process to forming base shift of polymer chains of chitosan using gossypol as a crosslinking agent. Their structure was confirmed by Fourier Transformed Infra Red (FT-IR) spectra. Morphology, stability, loading and releasing efficiency of GPCS and Cur/GPCS (Cur stands for curcumin) were thoroughly investigated by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), FT-IR, Ultra Violet-Visible spectrophotometry (UV-Vis) and High Resolve Photoluminescence System (HRPLS). The obtained nanocarrier exhibited an excellent solubility for Cur anticancer drug as well as high stability for in vitro studies. An intensive fluorescence, allowing drug monitor/delivery, was achieved. Drug release profile was also studied. GPCS, therefore, could be considered to be a potential drug carrier for therapeutic treatment.
Scaling-Translation Parameter Estimation using Genetic Hough Transform for Background Compensation
( Thuy Tuong Nguyen ),( Xuan Dai Pham ),( Jae Wook Jeon ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2011 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.5 No.8
Background compensation plays an important role in detecting and isolating object motion in visual tracking. Here, we propose a Genetic Hough Transform, which combines the Hough Transform and Genetic Algorithm, as a method for eliminating background motion. Our method can handle cases in which the background may contain only a few, if any, feature points. These points can be used to estimate the motion between two successive frames. In addition to dealing with featureless backgrounds, our method can successfully handle motion blur. Experimental comparisons of the results obtained using the proposed method with other methods show that the proposed approach yields a satisfactory estimate of background motion.

Being naturally abundant resources and having many interesting physicochemical and biological properties, chitin/chitosan have been found useful in many fields. This paper describes the strategy to design a multifunctional, chitosan based nanomaterials and their biomedical and environmental applications. Different physicochemical methods including FESEM/TEM, PPMS were used to characterize the obtained nanomaterials. For each application, a series of specific characterizing methods were used for evaluating the applicability/capacity of materials.

<P>Vision-based vehicle speed measurement (VSM) is one of the most convenient methods available in intelligent transportation systems. Existing methods use an uncalibrated camera to measure vehicle speed, but they do not consider the possibility of camera vibration that leads to poor measurement results. This paper considers the issue when the camera is tilted downward and mounted at a fixed location on a bridge crossing the target street. The camera may vibrate due to wind or bridge movement. A vision-based speed measurement system is described in this paper, along with the vertical-and-horizontal-histogram-based method, which is used to compensate the background of an incoming image. This novel method is utilized to eliminate noise coming from the displacement between an incoming image and a background image that is caused by camera vibration over time. Moreover, a method is presented to automatically detect the vanishing point based on the Hough transform and quadtree. Experimental comparisons of the system to those of the vehicle's own speedometer show that the proposed approach yields a satisfactory estimate of vehicle speed.</P>
