        Cholelithiasis complicated with biliary sludge and urolithiasis in a dog

        A 10-year-old intact female Miniature Schnauzer dog was referred with the primary complaint of persistentanorexia, remittent fever, vomiting and abdominal pain. Hemogram suggested a chronic inflammatory disease. Serumbiochemistry showed moderate hepatobiliary cellular damage with severe cholestasis. Abdominal radiography andultrasonography revealed hepatomegaly, choleliths and sludges in gall bladder and small stones in urinary bladder. Basedcholecystectomy and cystectomy, choleliths and uroliths were removed from gall bladder and urinary bladder,respectively. The clinical condition was dramatically improved after surgery.

      • 활성 알루미나의 제조방법에 관한 연구

        Aluminum hydroxide gels were formed from aluminum salts by precipitation method. These gels were aged and calcined to get γ- alumina. The effects of aging condition for aluminum hydroxide gels on the physical properties of γ- alumina were tested varying aging pH, time and temperature using aluminum sulfate as starting materials. The effect of starting materials were tested using aluminum sulfate, nitrate and chloride salts. Activated alumina prepared from Boehmite aged under the condition of pH 11 and 170℃ showed high surface area and large pore volume. Aging time above 1 day showed a little effect on the properties of activated alumina. Optimum aluminum salt concentration for high surface area and large pore volume was 4 wt%.

        시간-주파수 해석법에 의한 CFRP의 파괴 거동

        신호처리법으로 현재 많이 사용되고 있는 푸리에 변환은 신호의 주파수 성분이 사간에 따라 어떻게 변화하는지를 표현하지 못한다. 따라서 최근 이와 같은 푸리에 변환의 단점을 보완하여, 신호의 시간과 주파수에 대한 정보를 동시에 표현할 수 있는 시간-주파수 해석법들이 개발되었다. 본 연구에서는 음향방출을 이용하여 복합재료의 주요 발생원으로 알려져 있는 기지균열, 섬유분리, 섬유파괴 및 층간분리 등과 같은 파괴기구를 해석하였다. 각각의 파괴특성이 나타나도록 시험편을 제작하여 인장시험 시 검출된 음향방출신호의 시간-주파수 해석을 통해 전체 파괴기구의 특징을 분석하였다. Fourier transform has been one of the most common tools to study the frequency characteristics of signals. With the Fourier transform alone, however, it is difficult to tell whether signal's frequency contents evolve in time or not. Except for a few special cases, the frequency contents of most signals encountered in the real world change with time. Time-frequency analysis methods are developed recently to overcome the drawbacks of Fourier transform, which can represent the information of signals in time and frequency at the same time. In this study, damage process of cross-ply carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) under monotonic tensile loading was characterized by acoustic emission. Different kinds of CFRP specimens were used to determine the characteristics of AE signals. Time-frequency analysis methods were employed for the analysis of fracture mechanisms in CFRP such as matrix cracking, debonding, fiber fracture and delamination.

      • 경유양동상미로접근법에 의한 안면신경감압술 16례

        With increase of traffic accidents, the otologic problems including facial palsy with skull fracture are more concerned. This paper is report our experiences with 16 cases of traumatic facial nerve palsy which have been employed transmastoid supralabyrinthine facial nerve decompression during last four years. The results are as follows: 1. Of the 16 patients, 13 patients(81.3%) were men and 3 patients (18.8%) were women. And sex ratio was 1.4:1 (male predominent). 2. In fracture type, longitudinal fracture was 10 cases (62.5%), transverse fracture was 1 case(6.3%) and mixed fracture was 2 cases(12.5%). 3. Cerebral contusion was combined in 8 cases(50%) and facial bone fracture was combined in 6 cases(37.55). Because of these combined lesions, otologic diagnoses and treatment was delayed. 4. The most common physical finding on clinical examination were a bloody otorrhea(75%) and hearing impairment(75%). 5. In frequency of lesion in facial nerve, tympanic segment(35.7%) was the most common site, followed by geniculate ganglion(14.3%). Suggested mechanisms in facial palsy were nerve compression(57.1%), granulation tissue and congestion. 6. There were improvment of House-Brackmann grades in 13 cases after decompression. 7. Incudostapedial separation was found in 4 cases and incus fracture was found in 2 cases. Hearing improvement was found in 3 cases being ossiculoplasty.

        Transcriptome profiling of olive flounder responses under acute and chronic heat stress

        Background The olive founder (Paralichthys olivaceus) is a saltwater fsh, which is valuable to the economy. The olive founder strives to adapt to environmental stressors through physiological, biochemical, and transcriptional responses. The rise in water temperature threatens the growth, development, reproduction, and survival of olive founder. Each organ in the olive founder can diferentially respond to heat stress. Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate organ-specifc transcriptional changes in olive founder tissues during heat stress. Methods In this study, transcriptome dynamics of the gill, liver, and muscle of olive founder to acute or chronic heat stress were investigated. Results Principal component analysis plotting revealed that the transcriptome of each organ is quite separated. K-means clustering, gene ontology, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis showed the diferential transcriptome responses of each organ to heat stress. Heat stress commonly afects the pathways involved in the correct protein folding, DNA repair, and cell cycle. Conclusion Our results may provide a valuable molecular basis of heat acclimation in fshes.

        수술 침습도에 따른 등장성 요부신전운동이 술후 체간 신전근력에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study is to analyze durability of motor effort after finishing rehabilitation program and the influence from the isotonic lumbar region extension exercise after an operation according to the different operation way in invasive degrees. We selected randomly 80 patients who have no complication and musculoskeletal system diseases with finishing the 12 weeks' rehabilitation program after getting laser discectomy, but fail to conservative treatment, about Lumbar HNP, and divided into minimal invasive groups 38 and invasive groups 42 for study. As the results, in minimal invasive groups, after finishing cure and 6 months later, the degree of hold muscle of women is much better than that of men. but in Invasive group, that of men is better than that of women, in case of women, the 0° and 72° in lumbar flexion angle have weaken or no improvement than before beginning exercise. and muscle force in 72° in lumbar flexion angle in creased to all men and women than before beginning exercise in Minimal invasive group. the groups who start the exercise within 3 months are better than the groups who start the exercise above 3 months after an operation the hold muscle degree all angles after finishing cure and 6 months later. Meanwhile, in invasive group, the groups who start the exercise within 3 months are better than the groups who start the exercise above 3 months after an operation about the hold muscle degree in 36-72 of lumbar flexion angle but 0-36 are not good after finishing cure and 6 months later.

      • 연직배수공법의 스미어존이 압밀에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치해석

        In this paper, an numerical approach is performed to investigate the effects of smear zone, occurred by penetrating vertical drains, on consolidation behavior of soft clay deposits. Such a numerical analysis is applied to the field condition to confirm its applicability. Parametric numerical analyses is carried out to study influencing factors such as permeability in smear zone, boundary of smear zone and discharge capacity of vertical drains on the consolidation of soil. As results of analyses, for the given conditions of soil, degree of consolidation is getting faster with increase of permeability of vertical drain. Degree of consolidation is delayed with decrease of permeability of smear zone. As the ratio of drain width to smear zone increases, the degree of consolidation decreases. Proposed values of influencing factors by previous researchers is found to be reliable from results of numerical analyses with Cam-clay model.

        Cyclodextrin Glucanotransferase와 Cyclodextrinase를 생산하는 Bacillus 속 세균의 분리와 그 효소들의 특성

        토양으로부터 CGTase와 CDase를 함께 분비·생산하는 내열성 세균을 분리하였으며, 동정결과 Bacillus stearothermophilus로 판명되어 KJ16으로 명명하였다. Bacillus stearothermophilus KJ16 균주는 회분배양할 경우 2단계 성장을 하며 일차증식기에 CGTase를 생산하고 이차증식기에 CDase를 생산하는 양상을 보였다. 배치 pH를 7.0으로 조절하면서 배양할 경우, CGTase는 균의 증식에 따라 증가하고 CDase는 CGTase보다 뒤에 생산되었다. 그 생산양은 pH 비조절 배양에 비해 CGTase는 최대 12배(1300 mU/ml)까지, CDase는 2배(225 mU/ml)정도 증가되었다. 분리균주가 생산하는 CGTase는 분자량이 65,000 dalton으로 pH 6.0, 60℃에서 최적활성을 보이며 HPLC 분석을 통해 α-, β-, γ-CD를 42: 46: 12의 비율로 생산하는 α/β 혼합형 CGTase였다. 또한 CDase는 분자량이 68,000 dalton으로 pH 6.0, 55℃에서 최적활성을 보이며 최적기질은 γ-CD였다. A bacterium named as Bacillus stearothermophilus KJ16. The growth of the isolated strain occurred in two steps, and syntheses of CGTase and CDase were dependent on the growth cycle of the cell. CGTase was constitutively synthesized during the 1st growing phase, while CDase was synthesized inducibly during the 2nd growing phase. When the medium pH was controlled at 7.0, the maximun enzyme activities of CGTase and CDase were increased by 12-fold(1300 mU/ml) and 2-fold (225 mU/ml), respectively, compared with the pH-uncontrolled batch culture. The CGTase of the isolate converted soluble starch to CDs with the ratio of α-CD: β-CD: γ-CD=42:46:12 at 55℃. The optimal pH and temperature of CGTase were 6.0 and 60℃, respectively and the optimal pH and temperature of CDase were 6.0 and 55℃. The molecular weights of the purified CGTase and CDase were estimated to be 65,000 and 68,000 dalton, respectively. Among serveral substrates, γ-CD was most rapidly hydrolyzed by the purified CDase.
