<▼1><P>A stretchable transparent electrode was achieved with rationally-controlled ultra-long copper nanowires and low-temperature direct spray coating.</P></▼1><▼2><P>The environmentally benign synthesis of ultra-long copper nanowires with successful control of diameter and length for stretchable transparent conducting electrodes (TCEs) is reported. Ultra-long copper nanowires (CuNWs) with an average length of 92.5 μm (maximum length up to 260 μm) and an average diameter of 47 nm were synthesized using environmentally friendly water–alcohol mixtures and l-ascorbic acid as a reducing agent. A facile removal of insulating surface layers, such as organic capping molecules and copper oxide/hydroxide, by short-chain organic acid treatment allowed low contact resistance between the CuNWs without post-reductive treatment at elevated temperatures. The CuNWs were directly spray-coated on glass or polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) at a low processing temperature of 130 °C. The CuNW TCE on a glass substrate exhibited a low sheet resistance of 23.1 Ohm sq−1 and a high optical transmittance of 84.1% at 550 nm. Furthermore, the CuNWs were directly spray-coated on stretchable PDMS, which showed a low sheet resistance of 4.1 Ohm sq−1 and a high optical transmittance of 70% at 550 nm.</P></▼2>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>It is known that the hippocampus has vital functions in learning and memory, behavioral regulation, and activity-dependent synaptic plasticity, and that the hippocampus contains high levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). In the present study, we followed age-dependent changes of BDNF immunoreactivity and protein level in the gerbil hippocampus to identify the correlation between BDNF and aging. BDNF immunoreactivity and its protein level significantly increased at postnatal month (PM) 12 in the hippocampus and thereafter reduced. At PM 24, BDNF immunoreactivity in the hippocampal CA1 region and dentate gyrus was similar to that in the PM 1 group, whereas BDNF immunoreactivity in the CA2/3 region at PM 24 was higher than that at PM 1. In the PM 24 group, an age-related neuronal loss and the decrease of reference and working memory were observed. In conclusion, our results suggest that observed reduction in BDNF and reference memory may be associated with age-dependent neuronal loss in the hippocampal CA1 region.</P>
The effect of hip abductor fatigue on static balance and gait parameters
Hwang, Wonjeong,Jang, Jun Ha,Huh, Minjin,Kim, Yeon Ju,Kim, Sang Won,Hong, In Ui,Lee, Mi Young korean Academy of Physical Therapy Rehabilitation 2016 Physical therapy rehabilitation science Vol.5 No.1
Objective: Hip abductors play a role in providing stability and movement to the lower limbs. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of hip abductor fatigue on static balance and gait in the general population. Design: One group pre-test post-test design. Methods: Thirteen university students in their twenties volunteered for the study and had underwent a functional assessment. To induce fatigue, the subjects were instructed to raise their dominant lower extremity up against a load of 50% of 1 repetition maximum while producing hip abduction in a side-lying position. Subjects were instructed to maintain an abduction speed of 30 repetitions per minute to induce fatigue. Muscle fatigue was considered to be established when subjects were unable to perform hip abduction three consecutive times along with the metronome. A post-test of balance and gait was performed immediately in order to prevent fatigue recovery. The center of pressure (COP) distance area was measured using the Zebris FDM-S Multifunction Force measuring plate. Gait performance was analyzed using the GAITRite. Results: The COP distance was increased after fatigue was induced. There was a significant increase in the standard deviation of the medio-lateral and antero-posteror distance (p<0.05). Although there was no significant difference in gait parameters, there was a significant decrease in single support time after fatigue was induced (p<0.05). Conclusions: There was an increase in static balance instability and a significant decrease in single support time during gait due to hip abductor muscle fatigue.

Background: Facet joint disease plays a major role in axial low-back pain. Few diagnostic tests and imaging methods for identifying this condition exist. Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is reported that it has a high sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing facet disease. We prospectively evaluated the use of bone scintigraphy with SPECT for the identification of patients with low back pain who would benefit from medial branch block. Methods: SPECT was performed on 33 patients clinically suspected of facet joint disease. After SPECT, an ultrasound guided medial branch block was performed on all patients. On 28 SPECT-positive patients, medial branch block was performed based on the SPECT findings. On 5 negative patients, medial branch block was performed based on clinical findings. For one month, we evaluated the patients using the visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry disability index. SigmaStat and paired t-tests were used to analyze patient data and compare results. Results: Of the 33 patients, the ones who showed more than 50% reduction in VAS score were assigned ``responders``. SPECT positive patients showed a better response to medial branch blocks than negative patients, but no changes in the Oswestry disability index were seen. Conclusions: SPECT is a sensitive tool for the identification of facet joint disease and predicting the response to medial branch block. (Korean J Pain 2011; 24: 81-86)

Improved FOC of IPMSM using Finite-state Model Predictive Current Control for EV
Won, Il-Kuen,Hwang, Jun-Ha,Kim, Do-Yun,Choo, Kyoung-Min,Lee, Soon-Ryung,Won, Chung-Yuen The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2017 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.12 No.5
Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is most commonly used in the automotive industry as a traction motor for electric vehicle (EV). In electric vehicle, the torque output rapidly changes according to the operation of the accelerator and the braking of the driver. The transient torques are thus generated very frequently in accordance with the variable speed control of the driver. Therefore, in this paper, a method for improving the torque response in the transient states of IPMSM is proposed. In order to complement the disadvantages of the conventional PI current controller in the field oriented control (FOC), the finite-state model predictive current control and 2D-LUT is applied to improve the torque response at the torque transient period. Simulation and experiment results are given to verify the reliability of the proposed method.

Various reaction conditions uding temperature, time and type and concentration of templates have been changed in order to facilely synthesize, especially with microwave (MW) heating, SAPO-34 molecular sieves. SAPO-34 molecular sieve can be synthesized rapidly with microwave irradiation from a gel containing tetraethylammonium hydroxide (TEAOH) as a template. However, other several templating molecules lead to SAPO-5 molecular sieve under microwave irradiation even though SAPO-34 is obtained by conventional electric synthesis from the same reactant gels. Moreover, SAPO-34 can be obtained more easily by increasing the TEAOH or silica concentration or by increasing the reaction temperature. SAPO-34 can be obtained within 5 min in a selected condition (high temperature of 210 $^{\circ}C$) with microwave heating, which may lead to a continuous production of the important material. SAPO-34 synthesized by microwave irradiation is homogeneous and small in size and shows acidity and a stable performance in the dehydration of methanol and 2-butanol to olefins, suggesting potential applications in acid catalysis.
