Wheat - Dependent Exercise-Induced Anaphylaxis Occurred With a Delayed Onset of 10 to 24 hours After Wheat Ingestion: A Case Report

        Zhu Rongfei,Li Wenjing,Liu Guanghui 대한천식알레르기학회 2014 Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research Vol.6 No.4

Wheat-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (WDEIA) usually occurs 1 to 4 hours after wheat ingestion and the pathophysiology of WDEIA remainsunknown. It is recommended that WDEIA patients refrain from exercise for 4 to 6 hours after wheat ingestion. We report a case of a 51-yearoldman who experienced 5 anaphylaxis attacks; two of which occurred 10 to 24 hours after wheat ingestion and exercise. He has a history of chronicgastroenteritis that responds well to antihistamine drugs but not proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and prokinetic agents. Abdominal CT results implied thepossibility of superior mesenteric artery syndrome. We suggest that WDEIA occurs 6 hours after wheat ingestion in cases compounded by obstructivegastrointestinal diseases.

Selenide-linked polydopamine-reinforced hybrid hydrogels with on-demand degradation and light-triggered nanozyme release for diabetic wound healing

        Wenjing Li,Ying Bei,Xiangqiang Pan,Jian Zhu,Zhengbiao Zhang,Tinglin Zhang,Jieting Liu,Dan Wu,Meng Li,Yan Wu,Jie Gao 한국생체재료학회 2023 생체재료학회지 Vol.27 No.00

Background Multifunctional hydrogels with controllable degradation and drug release have attracted extensive attention in diabetic wound healing. This study focused on the acceleration of diabetic wound healing with selenidelinked polydopamine-reinforced hybrid hydrogels with on-demand degradation and light-triggered nanozyme release. Methods Herein, selenium-containing hybrid hydrogels, defined as DSeP@PB, were fabricated via the reinforcement of selenol-end capping polyethylene glycol (PEG) hydrogels by polydopamine nanoparticles (PDANPs) and Prussian blue nanozymes in a one-pot approach in the absence of any other chemical additive or organic solvent based on diselenide and selenide bonding-guided crosslinking, making them accessible for large-scale mass production. Results Reinforcement by PDANPs greatly increases the mechanical properties of the hydrogels, realizing excellent injectability and flexible mechanical properties for DSeP@PB. Dynamic diselenide introduction endowed the hydrogels with on-demand degradation under reducing or oxidizing conditions and light-triggered nanozyme release. The bioactivity of Prussian blue nanozymes afforded the hydrogels with efficient antibacterial, ROS-scavenging and immunomodulatory effects, which protected cells from oxidative damage and reduced inflammation. Further animal studies indicated that DSeP@PB under red light irradiation showed the most efficient wound healing activity by stimulating angiogenesis and collagen deposition and inhibiting inflammation. Conclusion The combined merits of DSeP@PB (on-demand degradation, light-triggered release, flexible mechanical robustness, antibacterial, ROS-scavenging and immunomodulatory capacities) enable its high potential as a new hydrogel dressing that can be harnessed for safe and efficient therapeutics for diabetic wound healing.

DEVELOPMENT OF MAGNETICALLY RESPONSIVE Fe3O4@C CORE/SHELL MICROSPHERES AS POTENTIAL VECTORS FOR DRUG-DELIVERY APPLICATIONS

        WENJING YUAN,LING ZHU,PING CHEN,ANJIAN XIE,HUI ZHANG,CUIPING WANG,YUHUA SHEN 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2013 NANO Vol.8 No.4

The Fe3O4@C core/shell microspheres were fabricated via a two-step process. Fe3O4 microspheres were firstly prepared, and Fe3O4@C core/shell microspheres were subsequently fabricated using glucose as a carbon source by a hydrothermal route, in which the thickness of the carbon coating was about 20 nm. The resulting products were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR). The Nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms reveal their mesoporous structure and larger BET surface area (62.3 m2g-1). The Fe3O4@C core/shell microspheres possess ferromagnetism and high saturation magnetization (39.2 emu ⋅ g-1). Bovine hemoglobin (BHb) was used as a model protein to test the adsorption and desorption properties of the Fe3O4@C core/shell microspheres. The capacity for BHb adsorption was more than 71.3 mg/g. According to the values obtained in the MTT (3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay the Fe3O4@C core/shell microspheres show a low toxicity. Therefore, the prepared Fe3O4@C core/shell microspheres are of great significance for guided site-specific drug delivery.

Research on Static Behavior of Stud Shear Connectors after Strong-corrosion Based on Push-out Test

        Wenjing Qiao,Qihan Hu,Fan Yang,Haoyun Zhu 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.8

To study the shear bearing performance and failure mechanism of stud shear connectors after strong-corrosion, six groups of stud shear connectors were designed and then welded to the specimen. They are corroded by hydrochloric acid time for 0 h, 2 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h. Herein, the loading process, load-slip curve, shear bearing capacity, and failure mode were obtained by the push-out test. The bearing capacity formula was also proposed by the stress mechanism of 84 finite element models. The results of the study on stud shear connectors show that the shear capacity, deformation capacity and slip decrease gradually with the extension of corrosion time. Among them, the enlargement in the diameter exerts considerable influence on their shear capacity. Notwithstanding, the shear bearing capacity slightly increases with stud shear connectors lengthened. The concrete strength grade can strengthen the shear capacity. Finally, the shear bearing capacity formula, taking the reliability coefficient into account, is proposed by the exit test data of 104 stud shear connectors.

Volume Compatibility of Interlayer Treatment Materials with Roller-Compacted Concrete

        Xiaoliang Zhu,Yuxin Gao,Wenjing Song,Jingjing Xu,Chengyang Li,Zhaoheng Guo,Fang Chen,Rui Zhang 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.26 No.3

Interlayer is the weakest plane of the entire roller-compacted concrete (RCC) structure and is easily deteriorated under the pressure of water and other environmental factors. Shearing force induced by the different shrinkage in interlayer part is the main reason for that poor performance of the RCC. In this paper, the deformation of RCC concrete and interlayer treatment mortar with supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs, including fly ash and silica fume) and double expansive resources admixtures (HME, containing calcium sulphoaluminate (CSA) and CaO) were studied. Deformation of concrete (produced RCC) and interlayer treatment materials was modeled and compared. Porosity characters of interlayer treatment materials and water absorption of interlayer-treated RCC samples were tested. Results showed that the HME significantly reduced the shrinkage of mortar and the deformation difference degree between layers was shortened. Modified interlayer treatment materials with HME could modify the macroscopic properties of RCC, the low porosity of interlayer and water absorption of interlayer-treated RCC was resulted. The suitable HME content is necessary in interlayer treatment materials and which could improve the performance of RCC.

Discovery and validation of PURA as a transcription target of 20(S)-protopanaxadiol: Implications for the treatment of cognitive dysfunction

        Feiyan Chen,Wenjing Zhang,Shuyi Xu,Hantao Zhang,Lin Chen,Cuihua Chen,Zhu Zhu,Yunan Zhao 고려인삼학회 2023 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.47 No.5

Background: 20(S)-protopanaxadiol (PPD), a ginsenoside metabolite, has prominent benefits for thecentral nervous system, especially in improving learning and memory. However, its transcriptionaltargets in brain tissue remain unknown. Methods: In this study, we first used mass spectrometry-based drug affinity responsive target stability(DARTS) to identify the potential proteins of ginsenosides and intersected them with the transcriptionfactor library. Second, the transcription factor PURA was confirmed as a target of PPD by biolayerinterferometry (BLI) and molecular docking. Next, the effect of PPD on the transcriptional levels of targetgenes of PURA in brain tissues was determined by qRT-PCR. Finally, bioinformatics analysis was used toanalyze the potential biological features of these target proteins. Results: The results showed three overlapping transcription factors between the proteomics of DARTSand transcription factor library. BLI analysis further showed that PPD had a higher direct interaction withPURA than parent ginsenosides. Subsequently, BLI kinetic analysis, molecular docking, and mutations inkey amino acids of PURA indicated that PPD specifically bound to PURA. The results of qRT-PCR showedthat PPD could increase the transcription levels of PURA target genes in brain. Finally, bioinformaticsanalysis showed that these target proteins were involved in learning and memory function. Conclusion: The above-mentioned findings indicate that PURA is a transcription target of PPD in brain, and PPD upregulate the transcription levels of target genes related to cognitive dysfunction by bindingPURA, which could provide a chemical and biological basis for the study of treating cognitive impairmentby targeting PURA.

Systemic Reactions to Dust Mite Subcutaneous Immunotherapy: A 3-Year Follow-up Study

        Xiang Dong,Nan Huang,Wenjing Li,Lintao Hu,Xiaolong Wang,Yin Wang,Ning Xiang,Guanghui Liu,Rongfei Zhu 대한천식알레르기학회 2016 Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research Vol.8 No.5

Purpose: The incidence of allergen specific immunotherapy-related systemic reactions (SRs) varies among different studies, and many factors are likely to contribute to SRs. This study aims to investigate the incidence, characteristics, and risk factors of SRs to standardize dust mite-specific subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) in Central China. Methods: All patients receiving standardized dust mites (100-100,000 SQ-U/mL; Alutard SQ, Hørsholn, Denmark) immunotherapy were followed up. Recorded data included demographics, diagnosis, patient status, pulmonary function testing results before and after each injection, allergen dosage, and details of SRs. Results: From June 2011 to August 2014, a total of 208 patients received 4,369 injections; 27 (13.0%) patients experienced 48 (1.1%) systemic reactions. Most of the SRs were grade 2 reactions (n=30, 62.5%), followed by grade 1 (n=11, 22.9%), grade 3 (n=7, 14.6%), and no fatal reactions occurred. Forty-six SRs (95.8%) occurred within 30 minutes. Higher SR rates were associated with high concentration extracts (100,000 SQ-U/mL), injections with concomitant local reactions (LRs), children, asthma and high sensitivity (skin prick test 3+/4+ and/or sIgE≥17.5 kUA/L) (P<0.05). The estimated odds of SRs increased in children (OR=6.57; 95% CI: 1.88-22.97, P=0.003), asthmatic patients (OR=4.10; 95% CI: 1.72-9.80, P=0.002), and injections with LRs (OR=2.41; 95% CI: 1.33-4.36, P=0.004).Conclusions: The incidence of SRs to dust mite SCIT was low, and multiple factors were associated with the increased incidence of SRs. Children, asthmatics and patients with concomitant LR may be prone to develop SRs.

Study on Interleaved Three-Switch Buck-Boost Converters with Co-directional Coupling Inductor

        Zhang Xianjin,Ma Wenjing,Zhu Hairong,Wu Di,Bi Shubo 대한전기학회 2024 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.19 No.1

In order to obtain soft switching and simplify the controlling circuit of an interleaved two-switch Buck-Boost converter, two types of three-switch interleaved Buck-Boost converters are proposed in this paper. Firstly, this paper analyses the coupling process of the presented converters under a large coupling coefcient. Then, the operating principle of the two converters is given in detail. And it is concluded that the expended duty cycle and soft switching of most of power devices can be obtained and a sharing-current circuit is also not needed. This will deeply simplify the controlling circuit. Finally, the simulation and experimental results verify the analysis.

A temporal–spatiotemporal domain transformation-based modeling method for nonlinear distributed parameter systems

        Jin Xi,Wu Daibiao,Yang Haidong,Zhu Chengjiu,Shen Wenjing,Xu Kangkang 한국CDE학회 2023 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.10 No.3

Complex nonlinear distributed parameter systems (DPSs) exist widely in advanced industrial thermal processes. The modeling of such highly nonlinear systems is a challenge for traditional time/space-separation-based methods since they employ linear methods for the model reduction and spatiotemporal reconstruction, which may lead to an inefficient application of the nonlinear spatial structure features represented by the spatial basis functions. To overcome this problem, a novel spatiotemporal modeling framework composed of nonlinear temporal domain transformation and nonlinear spatiotemporal domain reconstruction is proposed in this paper. Firstly, local nonlinear dimension reduction based on the locally linear embedding technique is utilized to perform nonlinear temporal domain transformation of the spatiotemporal output of nonlinear DPSs. In this step, the original spatiotemporal data can be directly transformed into low-order time coefficients. Then, the extreme learning machine (ELM) method is utilized to establish a temporal model. Finally, through the spatiotemporal domain reconstruction based on the kernel-based ELM method, the prediction of the temporal dynamics obtained from the temporal model can be reconstructed back to the spatiotemporal output. The effectiveness and performance of the proposed method are demonstrated in experiments on the thermal processes of a snap curing oven and a lithium-ion battery.

Effects of Chicory Inulin on Serum Metabolites of Uric Acid, Lipids, Glucose, and Abdominal Fat Deposition in Quails Induced by Purine-Rich Diets

        Zhijian Lin,Bing Zhang,Xiaoqing Liu,Rui Jin,Wenjing Zhu 한국식품영양과학회 2014 Journal of medicinal food Vol.17 No.11

Inulin, a group of dietary fibers, is reported to improve the metabolic disorders. In the present study, we investigated the effects of chicory inulin on serum metabolites of uric acid (UA), lipids, glucose, and abdominal fat deposition in quail model induced by a purine-rich diet. In this study, 60 male French quails were randomly allocated to five groups: CON (control group), MOD (model group), BEN (benzbromarone-treated group), CHI-H (high-dosage chicory inulin-treated group), and CHI-L (low-dosage chicory inulin-treated group). The serum UA level was significantly increased in the model group from days 7 to 28, as well as triglyceride (TG) and free fatty acid (FFA) increased later in the experimental period. The abdominal fat ratio was increased on day 28. Benzbromarone can decrease UA levels on days 14 and 28. The high and low dosage of chicory inulin also decreased serum UA levels on days 7, 14, and 28. The abdominal fat ratio, activity, and protein of acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) were decreased in chicory inulin-treated groups. The activities of xanthine oxidase (XOD) and fatty acid synthase (FAS) were increased in the model group and decreased in the benzbromarone and chicory inulin groups. This study evaluated a quail model of induced hyperuricemia with other metabolic disorders caused by a high-purine diet. The results indicated that a purine-rich diet might contribute to the development of hyperuricemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and abdominal obesity. Chicory inulin decreased serum UA, TG, and abdominal fat deposition in a quail model of hyperuricemia by altering the ACC protein expression and FAS and XOD activities.
