        Extraction of density-of-states in amorphous InGaZnO thin-film transistors from temperature stress studies

        The instability of amorphous InGaZnO (a-IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) with different active layer thicknesses under temperature stress has been investigated through using the density-of-states (DOS). Interestingly, the a-IGZO TFT with 22 nm active layer thickness showed a better stability than the others, which was observed from the decrease of interfacial and semiconductor bulk trap densities. The DOS was calculated based on the experimentally-obtained activation energy (EA), which can explain the experimental observations. We developed the high-performance Al2O3 TFT with 22 nm IGZO channel layer (a high mobility of 7.4 cm2/V, a small threshold voltage of 2.8 V, a high Ion/Ioff 1.8 107, and a small SS of 0.16 V/dec), which can be used as driving devices in the next-generation flat panel displays.

        Effect of myoglobin, hemin, and ferric iron on quality of chicken breast meat

        Objective: The objective was to evaluate the impact of different forms of iron including myoglobin, hemin, and ferric chloride on the quality of chicken breast meat. Methods: Chicken breast muscles were subjected to 1, 2, 3 mg/mL of FeCl<sub>3</sub>, myoglobin and hemin treatment respectively, and the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde, meat color, tenderness, water holding capacity and morphology of meat was evaluated. Results: Hemin was found to produce more ROS and induce greater extent of lipid oxidation than myoglobin and ferric chloride. However, it showed that hemin could significantly increase the redness and decrease the lightness of the muscle. Hemin was also shown to be prominent in improving water holding capacity of meat, maintaining a relatively higher level of the immobilized water from low-field nuclear magnetic resonance measurements. Morphology observation by hematoxylin-eosin staining further confirmed the results that hemin preserved the integrity of the muscle. Conclusion: The results indicated that hemin may have economic benefit for the industry based on its advantage in improving water holding capacity and quality of meat.

      • Investigations on Relationship between Fractal Dimension and 3-D Surfaces Topography of C.G. Irons under Dry Sliding

        Based on 3-D surface morphology measurements of C.G. irons, the fractal analyses were made on relationship between dry sliding surface morphology and the fractal dimension. It is revealed that the values of fractal dimensions (Df) of sliding surfaces are in the range between 1-2, which are closely related to the surface morphologies. With the increase in depths of grooves or pits, the Df values increase. At the same lime, the increases in densities of the grooves also cause the Df values to increase. At last, relationship among Df and friction coefficient as well as wear rate is discussed.

        Deficiencies of China's General Aviation Law and its Improvement

        일반항공은 민간항공분야의 중요한 구성요소로서 상업비행을 제외한 광범위한 분야를 아우르며 주권국의 경제적 수요와 안전 요구사항을 충족시키기 위하여 각기 상이한 운항 절차와 방식으로 개별 국가들에 의해 규제되는 특징을 가지고 있다. 지난 30년간 중국의 상업항공은 중국의 경제 발전과 함께 급속한 성장을 이루어 왔지만 일반항공분야는 이와 함께 발전해오지 못하고 상업항공분야에 비해 상대적으로 경시되어왔다고 할 수 있다. 그리하여 현재 중국의 일반항공산업은 최근 중국정부의 저고도공역 개선 정책과 더불어 근본적인 변화와 성장을 맞이할 준비가 되어있지만 현재 관련 산업을 규율하고 있는 중국 일반항공법의 흠결이 일반항공 부문의 발전을 가로막고 있으며 일관되지 못한 법의 적용이 여러 혼란을 야기하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문은 다음과 같이 중국 일반항공법의 흠결을 분석하였다. 국제민간항공기구(ICAO)와 여러 ICAO 회원국이 채택한 일반항공에대한 다양한 정의를 검토한 후 미국, 유럽연합(EU), 호주 그리고 중국의 일반항공산업 발전에 대하여 살펴보았다. 또한 시카고 협약과 부속서 그리고 그 외 다양한 중국내 관련법을 분석하며 중국 일반항공법의 법원(法原)에 대해서 고찰하였다. 마지막으로 여러 관련규정들 내의 각기 다른 정의조항과 법리적 모순, 정부보조금 집행 원칙의 개선 필요성, 온실가스 배출이나 소음문제와 같은 환경보호 문제등을 예로들며 현재 중국 일반항공법의 결함을 지적하였다. 이에따라 본 연구는 건전하고 진보적이며 지속가능한 일반항공분야의 발전을 위해 공정경쟁과 항공안전이 보장될 수 있는 일관성있고 체계적인 법률체제가 뒷받침 되어야 한다는 결론을 도출하였으며 이를 위한 다양한 개선방안을 제시하였다. General aviation is an integral part of civil aviation and involves the widest range of aviation segments except commercial aviation. Featured with different operational procedures and practices to satisfy the economic needs and safety requirements of a sovereign state, general aviation tends to be regulated by an individual state. The last three decades have seen exponential growth of commercial air transport in China, but its general aviation sector has remained disproportionally underdeveloped. With the deepening of the reform of low-altitude airspace, the sector is poised for a radical change and rapid growth. However, legislation governing general aviation activities in China is distorted causing inconsistency and confusions in their application and implementation. This paper aims to analyse China's prevailing legislation regulating general aviation activities. It first discusses the various definitions adopted by ICAO and its member states and reviews the development of general aviation in the US, EU, Australia and China. It then examines the sources of China's general aviation laws, e.g. Chicago Convention and its annexes, and Chinese domestic legislature which covers legislation, laws, directives, rules and procedures. The paper continues to analyse and establish the deficiencies of its prevailing legal framework by pointing out the following: variation of definitions in different regulations, inconsistency of principles in existing laws and regulations, legal vacuum concerning government subsidy, environment protection, safety and security, and other operational areas such as aerial club, sightseeing, and search and rescue. In this process, the paper argues that a coherent, consistent and systematic legal framework is required in order to ensure fair competition and safety for a healthy, progressive and sustainable general aviation growth. Suggestions for rectification and improvement are proposed.

        Evaluation of antioxidant property of heat shock protein 90 from duck muscle

        Objective: The objectives of this study were to investigate the direct antioxidative effect of 90 Kda heat shock protein (Hsp90) obtained from duck muscle. Methods: The interaction of Hsp90 with phospholipids and oxidized phospholipids was studied with surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and their further oxidation in the presence of Hsp90 was evaluated with thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) assay. The scavenging effect on the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2’-azinobis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) was measured, and the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy in combination with 5-tert-Butoxycarbonyl-5-methyl-1- pyrroline-N-oxide and 2-phenyl-4,4,5,5,-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide (PTIO) was utilized to determine the abilities of Hsp90 in scavenging hydroxyl and PTIO radicals. Results: SPR showed Hsp90 could bind with both phospholipids and oxidized phospholipids, and prevent their further oxidation by the TBARS assay. The DPPH and ABTS scavenging activity increased with Hsp90 concentration, and could reach 27% and 20% respectively at the protein concentration of 50 μM. The EPR spectra demonstrated Hsp90 could directly scavenge ·OH and PTIO· radicals. Conclusion: This suggests that Hsp90, a natural antioxidant in meat, may play an important role in cellular defense against oxidative stress, and may have potential use in meat products.         Differential expression of heat shock protein 90, 70, 60 in chicken muscles postmortem and its relationship with meat quality

        Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of heat shock protein (HSP) 90, 70, and 60 in chicken muscles and their possible relationship with quality traits of meat. Methods: The breast muscles from one hundred broiler chickens were analyzed for drip loss and other quality parameters, and the levels of heat shock protein (HSP) 90, 70, and 60 were determined by immunoblots. Results: Based on the data, chicken breast muscles were segregated into low (drip loss${\leq}5%$), intermediate (5%<drip loss<9.5%) and high (drip loss${\geq}9.5$) drip loss groups. The expression of HSP90 and HSP60 were significantly lower in the high drip loss group compared to that in the low and intermediate drip loss group (p<0.05), while HSP70 was equivalent in abundance in all groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: Results of this study suggests that higher levels of HSP90 and HSP60 may be advantageous for maintenance of cell function and reduction of water loss, and they could act as potential indicator for better water holding capacity of meat.

        Solvent Effect on Structure, Morphology and Catalytic Activity on Ammonium Perchlorate of Nano-MgWO4

        For exploring the interesting solvent effect on structure and morphology, a variety of MgWO4 nanoparticles were prepared by a one-pot solvothermal method with different proportional solvents of water and ethylene glycol. The results showed that monoclinic wolframite crystalline structure of MgWO4 was successfully synthesized, corresponding to two standard cards of MgWO4 (JCPDS No. 27-0789) and MgWO4 (JCPDS No. 19-0776), respectively. The morphology of MgWO4 nanoparticles presents eight different shapes and orderly transforms from one shape to another with increasing water content in mixed EG-water solvents, and a possible mechanism was proposed. The catalytic activities of these MgWO4 nanoparticles on the thermal decomposition of Ammonium Perchlorate (AP) were compared using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) method, and found to present good change rule with particle size.

      • A Large Gain Varialble range, Wide bandwidth Analog AGC Circuitry for a CMOS GPS Receiver

        In this paper, a large gain variable range, wide-band automatic gain circuitry (AGC) is introduced. Because we employed a simple mean detection technique, the AGC loop dissipates less than 1mA current under 3.3V supply voltage, and acts as a bandpass filter due to a DC offset cancellation scheme. The whole circuitry is designed in 0.35um JAZZ CMOS process, including variable gain amplifiers(VGAs)、fixed gain amplifiers 、gain control and DC offset cancellation part. The AGC provides a process independent gain variable range of 56dB, with a 70us loop lock time.
