        Cushion Polyurethane Sandwich Composite Structures Strengthened by a Concave-Convex Fabric Panels

        In order to improve the low velocity impact resistance, flexible PU foam composites (FPUC) with a sandwichstructure are proposed. The interlayer is composed of a concave-convex fabric structure while the top/bottom layers are madeof polyurethane foam (PU). The core is prepared as follows. Seven warp knitted spacer fabric types (WKSF) (WKSF.1-7) arelaminated with different number of layers to form cuboids, which are fixed firmly between two layers of low melting pointpolyester (LMPET) fabrics via hot melting. The effects of spacer yarn density, spacer yarn inclination angle, combination ofspacer fabrics, and number of lamination layers on the dynamic cushion performance are evaluated. With the impact energybeing 16 J, FPUs demonstrate an energy absorption level that is 19 % and 39 % greater than PU and WKSF. Furthermore,ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fabric can effectively enhance the surface strength. Finally, the results arecomputed via theoretical prediction formulae of dynamic buffer resistance is in conformity with the experimental test results.

        Experimental Study on Fire Resistance Performance of Concrete-Filled Steel Plate Composite Walls

        Concrete-filled steel plate composite walls are increasingly used in high-rise buildings; their mechanical properties at room temperature have produced fruitful results. However, research on their mechanical properties in fire and at high temperatures is scarce. Moreover, published studies on the fire resistance of concrete-filled steel plate composite walls have not considered the impact of fire protection measures. Based on previous fire resistance research, a fire resistance test was designed in this study for four walls under the combined action of axial compression and a single-sided fire under the ISO-834 standard heating curve. Apart from that, the existing fire protections have the disadvantages of too thick, easy falling off and cracking or difficult to install. In order to eliminate the disadvantages of existing fire prevention measures, new composite fireproof structure using a rock wool board and a thin fire-retardant coating is proposed. The effects of no fireproof structures, autoclaved lightweight concrete plate fireproof structures, thick-coated fire-retardant structures, and new composite fireproof structures on the fire resistance of concrete-filled steel plate composite walls were studied experimentally. The results show that the fire resistance of the four test specimens meets the 3 h fire resistance limit of the primary load-bearing component in the specification. Based on the experimental results, reasonable fire protection methods are suggested for concrete-filled steel plate composite walls in actual projects, and an experimental basis is provided for further numerical simulation.

        Bilibili: Soaring to be China's largest Video Community for Young People

        Bilibili, the most popular software in China among young people, deserves further exploration. This report aims to analyze how Bilibili has grown from a small website full of pirate videos to a preferred video community for China's younger generation (under 35 years old) today through community atmosphere building, content ecology maintenance, and understanding the mindset of Generation Z+ (born from 1985 to 2009). There are four main segments in this report. The timeline shows the major events that have shaped Bilibili since its foundation. Second, this report analyzes its four important turning points. Moreover, the success factors exhibit what makes Bilibili stand out from the many short-form video platforms in China. For example, Bilibili grasped the psychology of young people, managed to attract young people, and came out with its differentiation strategy. Finally, this report summarizes the lessons that students and entrepreneurs can learn from Bilibili's success.

      • A novel droop control strategy to share power equally and limit voltage deviation

        A novel droop control strategy for controlling parallel inverters is proposed in this paper. In this paper, the reactive power versus PCC voltage droop is introduced, and then output reactive power of the inverters is adjusted to be equal. When load is changed greatly in microgrid, the voltage frequency and amplitude deviate from normal values greatly. By adaptively adjusting the droop position of some large capacity inverters, it can share active and reactive power equally among inverters and limit the frequency and voltage amplitude deviations in a certain margin. The analysis and the design procedure are provided explicitly. Simulation and experiment results validate the proposed control strategy.

        Human Sense-Based Simulation-Experience Model for Interactive Art Production

        현대 과학기술의 발전에 따라 예술의 도구도 점차적으로 발전하였다. 다양한 미디어 기술들을 활용한 인터랙티브 아트는 사람들에게 빠르게 전파되었고, 새로운 예술의 형식으로 인식되고 있다. 인터랙티브 아트는 회화나 조각과 같은 전통적인 예술 표현 방식과는 차이가 있다. 관객과 작품 사이의 인터랙션을 통해 예술가, 참여 자와 작품의 사이의 균형을 이루었다. 관객은 작품을 감상하는 것을 넘어서, 작품을 만드는 데 참여할 수 있다. 본 논문은 예술 창작의 관점에서 인간의 감각에 기반한 인터렉티브 아트 제작 기술을 시각적, 청각적, 촉각적 측면 에서 분석하고, 관련 사례들을 결합하여 ‘시뮬레이션-체험’모델을 제안한다. 그리고 제안한 모델을 사용해서 제작 한 ‘Charming’이란 작품을 소개하고, 그 의미를 분석한다. 본 논문은 인간의 감각에 기반한 인터랙티브 아트 제작 기술 분석을 통해 형식의 변화 및 인터랙티브 아트의 미래 발전을 예측하여 예술성, 기술성, 그리고 사회적 영향성 에 적용될 수 있도록 비전을 제시한다. Recent advances in science and technology leveraged various artistic tools. Interactive art based on various media technologies became popular in a short period, and is widely appreciated as a new form of art. This new form of art has a different method of expression from traditional art such as painting or sculpture. It aims to strike a balance among the artist, audience, and piece of art through interaction between the work and viewers. Viewers can take part in the creation process, going beyond the conventional way of art appreciation. This paper analyzes interactive art production techniques based on human senses from the artist’s perspective. “Simulation-experience model” will be suggested after looking at several example artworks. Charming, which was produced based on this model, will be introduced and its meaning will be analyzed. The objective of this paper is to predict the future of interactive art and changes in the art form by studying interactive art production techniques based on human senses. We believe that the prediction is helpful in understanding the artistic and technological value and the social influence of interactive art in the future.

      • 5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine Induces Hepatoma Cell Apoptosis via Enhancing Methionine Adenosyltransferase 1A Expression and Inducing S-Adenosylmethionine Production

        In hepatocellular cancer (HCC), lack of response to chemotherapy and radiation treatment can be caused by a loss of epigenetic modifications of cancer cells. Methionine adenosyltransferase 1A is inactivated in HCC and may be stimulated by an epigenetic change involving promoter hypermethylation. Therefore, drugs releasing epigenetic repression have been proposed to reverse this process. We studied the effect of the demethylating reagent 5-aza-2'-deoxycitidine (5-Aza-CdR) on MAT1A gene expression, DNA methylation and S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) production in the HCC cell line Huh7. We found that MAT1A mRNA and protein expression were activated in Huh7 cells with the treatment of 5-Aza-CdR; the status of promoter hypermethylation was reversed. At the same time, MAT2A mRNA and protein expression was significantly reduced in Huh7 cells treated with 5-Aza-CdR, while SAMe production was significantly induced. However, 5-Aza-CdR showed no effects on MAT2A methylation. Furthermore, 5-Aza-CdR inhibited the growth of Huh7 cells and induced apoptosis and through down-regulation of Bcl-2, up-regulation of Bax and caspase-3. Our observations suggest that 5-Aza-CdR exerts its anti-tumor effects in Huh7 cells through an epigenetic change involving increased expression of the methionine adenosyltransferase 1A gene and induction of S-adenosylmethionine production.

        Fatty Acid Profile of Muscles from Crossbred Angus-Simmental, Wagyu-Simmental, and Chinese Simmental Cattles

        This study assessed breed differences in fatty acid composition and meat quality of Longissimus thoracis et lumborum (LTL) and semitendinosus (SE) of Angus× Chinese Simmental (AS), Wagyu×Chinese Simmental (WS), and Chinese Simmental (CS). CS (n=9), AS (n=9) and WS (n=9) were randomly selected from a herd of 80 bulls which were fed and managed under similar conditions. Fatty acid profile and meat quality parameters were analyzed in duplicate. Significant breed difference was observed in fatty acid and meat quality profiles. AS exhibited significantly (p<0.05) lower C16:0 and higher C18:1n9c compared with CS. AS breed also had a tendency (p<0.10) to lower total saturated fatty acid (SFA), improve C18:3n3 and total unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) compared with CS. Crossbreed of AS and WS had significantly (p<0.05) improved the lightness, redness, and yellowness of muscles, and lowered cooking loss, pressing loss, and shear force compared with CS. These results indicated that fatty acid composition and meat quality generally differed among breeds, although the differences were not always similar in different tissues. Fatty acid composition, meat color, water holding capacity, and tenderness favored AS over CS. Thus, Angus cattle might be used to improve fatty acid and meat quality profiles of CS, and AS might contain better nutritive value, organoleptic properties, and flavor, and could be potentially developed as an ideal commercial crossbreed.

        The beneficial effect of ginsenosides extracted by pulsed electric field against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in HEK-293 cells

        Background: Ginsenosides are the main pharmacological components of Panax ginseng root, which are thought to be primarily responsible for the suppressing effect on oxidative stress. Methods: 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity and oxygen radical absorption capacity were applied to evaluate the antioxidant activities of the ginsenosides. Human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK-293) cells were incubated with ginsenosides extracted by pulsed electric field (PEF) and solvent cold soak extraction (SCSE) for 24 h and then the injury was induced by $40{\mu}M$ $H_2O_2$. The cell viability and surface morphology of HEK-293 cells were studied using MTS assay and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. Dichloro-dihydro-fluorescein diacetate fluorescent probe assay was used to measure the level of intracellular reactive oxygen species. The intracellular antioxidant activities of ginsenosides were evaluated by cellular antioxidant activity assay in HepG2 cells. Results: The PEF extracts displayed the higher 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity and stronger oxygen radical absorption capacity (with an oxygen radical absorption capacity value of $14.48{\pm}4.04{\mu}M\;TE\;per\;{\mu}g/mL$). The HEK-293 cell model also suggested that the protective effect of PEF extracts was dose-dependently greater than SCSE extracts. Dichloro-dihydro-fluorescein diacetate assay further proved that PEF extracts are more active (8% higher than SCSE extracts) in reducing intracellular reactive oxygen species accumulation. In addition, scanning electron microscopy images showed that the HEK-293 cells, which were treated with PEF extracts, maintained more intact surface morphology. Cellular antioxidant activity values indicated that ginsenosides extracted by PEF had stronger cellular antioxidant activity than SCSE ginsenosides extracts. Conclusion: The present study demonstrated the antioxidative effect of ginsenosides extracted by PEF in vitro. Furthermore, rather than SCSE, PEF may be more useful as an alternative extraction technique for the extraction of ginsenosides with enhanced antioxidant activity.

      • The Subjectivation Experience of Female Migrants in Urban Village in Mainland China

        This research is based on the author`s current work experience. The theoretical framework of this paper is under the perspective of feminism combined with the discourse and practice of gender and development. Relying on a semi self-help group of female migrants, the F institution (a pseudonym for the institution I am working for) applies a bottom-up empowerment route, combining practical gender needs and strategic gender needs. Since the former gender needs admit differences among female migrants, it incorporates family and children as the targets of services. Meanwhile, the latter gender needs face the commonality among female migrants, leads them to break out of the family which is always regarded as the private sector, and finally resists the oppression and stigma from social, cultural and political system with the power of alliance. In operational level, the organization adopts dialogue praxis as a paramount action strategy. This article will discuss how and why we should promote the establishment of the communal subject among those female migrants.
