The microbiological and chemical identification of antibiotic residues was attempted for livestock and seafood products including pork (n=34), beef (n=34), chicken (n=32), flatfish (n=37), armorclad rockfish (n=36), and sea bream (n=27). The meat (n=100) and seafood (n=100) samples were collected from 9 markets in 5 major Korean cities. Antibiotic substances were identified from the classes of tetracyclines, macrolides, penicillins, aminoglycosides, polyethers, peptides, sulfonamides, quinolones, chlorampenicols, and novobiocins using a microbiological assay, the Charm II test and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultra violet (UV) and fluorescence detectors. The results showed that 2 tetracyclines (oxytetracycline and tetracycline) and 3 quinolones (ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, and enrofloxacin) were detected in 4 samples of flatfish among all 100 seafood samples tested. No antibiotic residues were detected in the 100 livestock product samples tested. The amounts (min-max, mg/kg) of the residual antibiotics were as follows; tetracycline 0.78-0.85, oxytetracycline 0.49-0.74, ciprofloxacin 0.09-0.83, norfloxacin 0.01-0.21, enrofloxacin 0.12-2.98. These data indicate that the total detection rate of antibiotics in livestock and seafood products was approximately 2%.
A Case of Wilms Tumor with a Tumor Thrombus in a Boy with WAGR Syndrome

Intravascular extension of Wilms tumor (WT) can occur in approximately 4-10% of patients. In general, it does not cause any clinical problems because most of these tumors are small. Although there is no standard treatment currently, preoperative chemotherapy and delayed nephrectomy is generally recommended for children with WT accompanied by tumor thrombus. We report a rare case of WT, aniridia, genitourinary anomalies, and mental retardation (WAGR) syndrome in a boy who also had a huge inferior vena cava thrombus, 7 cm length. The prevalence of bilateral WT and tumor thrombus in WAGR has not been identified. The patient was successfully treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy to decrease the size of the tumor thrombus with WT and delayed nephrectomy following chemotherapy without any invasive intervention and did not show complications.

This study postulates that the inconclusive relationship between social and financial performance may be based on different motivation to engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR). As an unexplored dimension of the motivation for CSR actions, we propose the aspect that firms seek for enhancing ethical status, called conspicuous CSR. Drawn from the theory on conspicuous consumption (Veblen, 1899), we explore the possibilities that firms may spend their resources for society to reveal their ethical status. This implies that firms are likely to engage in CSR to advertise their CSR status. From this standpoint, we attempt to discern the behavioral aspect that a firm’s prosocial activities are dependent on its prior ethical status. And we investigate how different motivations, i.e. strategic CSR vs. conspicuous CSR, affect financial performance, especially instantiated by Tobin’s q. With a sample of 1,665 U.S. public firms between 1993 and 2012, we find that conspicuous CSR has a negative impact on market performance while strategic CSR has a positive impact. We expect that these findings can reconcile the inconclusive debate on the CSR-CFP relationship.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>An organoid is a complex, multi-cell three-dimensional (3D) structure that contains tissue-specific cells. Epithelial stem cells, which are marked by leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptor 5 (Lgr5), have the potential for self-renewal and expansion as organoids. However, in the case of intestinal organoids from Lgr5-EGFP-IRES-CreERT2 transgenic mice, <I>in vitro</I> expansion of the Lgr5 expression is limited in a culture condition supplemented with essential proteins, such as epidermal growth factor (E), noggin (N), and R-spondin 1 (R). In this study, we hypothesized that self-renewal of Lgr5+ stem cells in a 3D culture system can be stimulated by defined compounds (CHIR99021, Valproic acid, Y-27632, and A83-01). Our results demonstrated that dissociated single cells from organoids were organized into a 3D structure in the four compounds containing the ENR culture medium in a 3D and two-dimensional (2D) culture system. Moreover, the Lgr5 expression level of organoids from the ENR- and compound-containing media increased. Furthermore, the conversion of cultured Lgr5+ stem cells from 2D to 3D was confirmed. Therefore, defined compounds promote the expansion of Lgr5+ stem cells in organoids.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Organoids are generated in 3D culture systems in defined medium containing CVYA. </LI> <LI> CVYA containing the ENR culture medium promote the expansion of Lgr5+ stem cells in organoid. </LI> <LI> The Lgr5+ enriched organoids are conversed from 2D to 3D culture system. </LI> </UL> </P>

인터넷 서비스의 급속한 발전으로 멀티미디어 데이타의 양이 크게 증가함에 따라, 이를 분석하여 유용한 정보를 얻기 위해 사용자 개개인에 초점을 맞춘 효율적인 검색기술이 필요하게 되었다. 하지만 최근 웹사이트에서 제공하는 사용자 모델링 서비스는 텍스트 기반 페이지 구성이나 추천 검색 등에만 국한되어 있는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자 모델링 기법을 동영상 검색에 적용하기 위해 사용자의 선호도를 베이지안 네트워크로 모델링하고, 추론된 확률 값을 검색에 반영하는 방법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 실제 연구실 환경 내에 존재하는 컨텍스트 정보를 정의하였고, 설치된 카메라로부터 얻어진 동영상이 포함하는 컨텍스트 정보를 텍스트의 형태로 주석을 달았다. 사용자로부터 입력받은 사용자 개인의 정보는 설계된 베이지안 네트워크 모델의 증거 값으로 사용되어, 그로부터 사용자의 선호도를 추론하도록 하였다. 베이지안 네트워크의 추론 결과로 얻어진 확률 값은 검색에 반영되어 각 사용자의 선호도에 맞는 검색 결과를 보여준다. 사용자 평가 결과, 제안하는 모델을 사용하여 선택된 결과의 만족도가 일반적인 검색의 결과에 비해 높음을 확인하였다. As the multimedia data increase a lot with the rapid development of the Internet, an efficient retrieval technique focusing on individual users is required based on the analyses of such data. However, user modeling services provided by recent web sites have the limitation of text-based page configurations and recommendation retrieval. In this paper, we construct the user preference model with a Bayesian network to apply the user modeling to video retrieval, and suggest a method which utilizes probability reasoning. To do this, context information is defined in a real office environment and the video scripts acquired from established cameras and annotated the context information manually are used. Personal information of the user, obtained from user input, is adopted for the evidence value of the constructed Bayesian Network, and user preference is inferred. The probability value, which is produced from the result of Bayesian Network reasoning, is used for retrieval, making the system return the retrieval result suitable for each user's preference. The usability test indicates that the satisfaction level of the selected results based on the proposed model is higher than general retrieval method.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to demonstrate the association between recurrent atrial fibrillation (AF) and left ventricular (LV) adverse remodeling after catheter ablation and to evaluate the change of myocardial extracellular volume fraction (ECV) by catheter ablation outcomes. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively recruited 60 patients (44 men and 16 women) with a median age of 57 years (range, 32–78 years) who underwent cardiac MRI before and at 6–12 months after catheter ablation of AF. Cardiac MRI quantified myocardial ECV (%) in the left ventricle. Depending on myocardial ECV after catheter ablation, patients were divided into two groups: 1) LV adverse remodeling with ECV ≥ 28%; and 2) no adverse LV remodeling with ECV < 28%. Multivariable analysis was performed to assess the association between recurrent AF and LV remodeling. Results: Of 60 patients, 21 (35%) were in the LV adverse remodeling group (mean ECV ± standard deviation [SD]: 29.8% ± 1.4%) and 39 (65%) were in the no adverse LV remodeling group (mean ECV ± SD: 24.7% ± 1.5%). The incidence of recurrent AF was significantly greater in the LV adverse remodeling group than in the no adverse LV remodeling group (81% vs. 13%, p < 0.001). In patients with recurrent AF, mean myocardial ECV significantly increased from 27.7% ± 2.3% to 29.2% ± 2.3% (p = 0.004) after catheter ablation. In a multivariable analysis after adjusting sex, age, and myocardial ECV before catheter ablation, recurrent AF was independently associated with LV adverse remodeling after catheter ablation (odds ratio: 28.9, 95% confidence interval: 6.8–121.7, p < 0.001). Conclusion: When monitoring with cardiac MRI, sustained AF was significantly associated with LV adverse remodeling through an increase in myocardial ECV after catheter ablation of AF.
