종 분포 모형을 이용한 구상나무림의 지속 및 쇠퇴에 관한 연구 - 전라남도 광양시 백운산을 중심으로 -

조선희 ( Seon Hee Cho ),박종영 ( Jong Young Park ),박정호 ( Jeong Ho Park ),이양근 ( Yang Geun Lee ),문이만 ( Lee Man Mun ),강상호 ( Sang Ho Kang ),김광현 ( Gwang Hyun Kim ),윤종국 ( Jong Guk Yun ) 한국산림과학회 2015 한국산림과학회지 Vol.104 No.3

The present study investigated the habitats of Korean fir trees (Abies koreana E. H. Wilson) on Mt. Baekwun (Baekwun-san), determined the current distribution, quantified the contribution of biological and nonbiological environmental factors affecting the distribution, derived actual and potential habitats, presented a plan for the establishment of protected areas, applied RCP 8.5 climate change scenario to analyze the effects of climate change on the future distribution of Korean fir trees, and predicted future potential habitats. According to the results of the study, 3,325 Korean fir trees (DBH >= 2.5 cm) inhabited Mt. Baekwun, and their distribution area was approximately 150 ha. Populations of Korean fir trees were confirmed to exist at an altitude of 900 m above sea level and were distributed up to 1,200 m. Based on potential distribution, areas appropriate for habitation by Korean fir trees were analyzed to be 450 ha, three times the current distribution area, with a focus on Sang Peak (Sang-bong), Eokbul Peak (Eokbul-bong), Ddari Peak (Ddari-bong), and Dosol Peak (Dosol-bong). The forest stands near Sang Peak, the main peak, were evaluated as those with the most appropriate potential for the habitation of Korean fir trees, and populations of the trees tended to prefer the northern slope rather than the southern slope. When climate change scenario RCP 8.5 was applied and future potential distribution was analyzed, the habitats were expected to decrease in area to 20 ha by 2050, with a focus on Sang Peak, and areas appropriate for habitation were predicted not to exist by 2080. Judging from such results, as global warming accelerates, the habitats of Korean fir trees are clearly expected to move from lowlands to highlands.

        Sang Hoon Lee,Yun Sook Jeong,Kyung-A Hwang,Jin Song,Geon Min Noh,In Guk Hwang 한국산업식품공학회 2016 학술대회 및 심포지엄 Vol.2016 No.04

This study performed to investigate the changes in S-allyl-L-cysteine (SAC) content of garlic with different cooking methods. Methods for determining SAC was validated by determining specificity, linearity, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), precision and accuracy using HPLC-FLD system. Results showed high linearity in the calibration curve with a coefficient of correaltion (R 2 ) of 0.9999. The LOD and LOQ values for SAC were 0.15 and 0.49 μg/mL, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) for intra- and inter-day precision of SAC were less than 5%. The recovery rate of SAC was in the range from 97.35% to 97.47%. The SAC content of raw garlic was 2.77 mg/g, and there are no significantly difference among blanching and microwave treatment in SAC content. However, SAC content of boiling, autoclaving at 110℃ and 121℃ increased in the range of 3.50~9.19 mg/g, 6.52~16.21 mg/g and 14.15~50.24 mg/g as increasing cooking temperature and time, respectively.

Identification of Coronavirus Isolated from a Patient in Korea with COVID-19

        Jeong-Min Kim,Yoon-Seok Chung,Hye Jun Jo,Nam-Joo Lee,Mi Seon Kim,Sang Hee Woo,Sehee Park,Jee-Woong Kim,Heui Man Kim,Myung-Guk Han 질병관리본부 2020 Osong Public Health and Research Persptectives Vol.11 No.1

Objectives Following reports of patients with unexplained pneumonia at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, China, the causative agent was identified as coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), and the 2019 novel coronavirus disease was named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization. Putative patients with COVID-19 have been identified in South Korea, and attempts have been made to isolate the pathogen from these patients. Methods Upper and lower respiratory tract secretion samples from putative patients with COVID-19 were inoculated onto cells to isolate the virus. Full genome sequencing and electron microscopy were used to identify the virus. Results The virus replicated in Vero cells and cytopathic effects were observed. Full genome sequencing showed that the virus genome exhibited sequence homology of more than 99.9% with SARS-CoV-2 which was isolated from patients from other countries, for instance China. Sequence homology of SARS-CoV-2 with SARS-CoV, and MERS-CoV was 77.5% and 50%, respectively. Coronavirus-specific morphology was observed by electron microscopy in virus-infected Vero cells. Conclusion SARS-CoV-2 was isolated from putative patients with unexplained pneumonia and intermittent coughing and fever. The isolated virus was named BetaCoV/Korea/KCDC03/2020.

Prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus in the Elderly of Namwon County , South Korea

(Sang Guk Kim),(Seung Won Yang),(An Soo Jang),(Jeong Pyeong Seo),(Sang Woo Han),(Chung Ho Yeom),(Yong Chul Kim),(Sung Hee Oh),(Jung Seok Kim),(Hae Sung Nam),(Dong Jin Chung),(Min Young Chung) 대한내과학회 2002 The Korean Journal of Internal Medicine Vol.17 No.3

N/A Background : Ethnic and geographic differences exist in the prevalence of diabetes mellitus which has increased dramatically in South Korea. A few community-based epidemiologic studies with oral glucose tolerance test were performed in South Korea. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of diabetes mellitus by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Diabetic Association (ADA) diagnostic criteria and to investigate their associated risk factors. Also, we compared and analyzed the characteristics of Koreans by WHO and ADA diagnostic criteria. Methods : Between March 22, 1999 and July 14, 1999, a random sampling of 1,445 residents over 40 years of age in five villages (3 myons and 2 dongs) in Namwon City, Chollabuk-do Province, South Korea was carried out. WHO and ADA diagnostic criteria were used for the prevalence of DM, IGT and IFG. The associated factors of subjects were analyzed. Results : After age adjustment for the population projection of Korea (1999), the prevalence of DM and IGT was 13.7% and 13.8%, respectively, by WHO criteria, while the prevalence of DM, IGT and IFG was 15.8%, 12.8% and 5.7%, respectively, by ADA criteria, and the previous diagnosed diabetics were 5.8% in 665 adults over 40 years of age in the Namwon area. The age-adjusted prevalence of previously diagnosed diabetics was 5.8%. When the subjects classified by both criteria were compared, the level of agreement between WHO and ADA diagnostic criteria, except IFG, was very high ( =0.94; p 0.001). The ROC curve analysis determined FSG of 114.5 mg/dL (6.4 mmol/L) to yield optimal sensitivity and specificity corresponding to a PP2SG 200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L). The prevalence of DM and IGT with ADA diagnostic criteria rose with increasing age (p 0.05). The body mass index was mean 23.8 3.4 in all the subjects, 23.75 3.46 in NGT group and 23.67 3.16 in DM group, but the differences in the prevalence of DM, IGT and IFG by BMI were not significant. The prevalence of DM rose significantly with the increase in the waist-hip ratio (p 0.05). The prevalence of DM significantly increased in subjects by increases in blood pressure, and triglyceride and the relative risk in the prevalence of DM was significantly high with dyslipidemia (Odds ratio 2.29, 95% CI: 1.16-3.49). Conclusion : The prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus in the population over 40 years of age in Namwon City, South Korea remarkably increased compared with the 1970s and 1980s and was similar to that of the West. Ethnic differences in obesity of normal, DM and IGT subjects and in the effect on the prevalence of DM may exist in the Korean population, but they were not significant. As there is a limit in number, it is considered that a general population-based epidemiologic study on a large scale is required to investigate ethnic and geographic differences for the risk factors of DM in South Korea. The level of agreement, except IFG, by WHO and ADA diagnostic criteria was high, which indicates that these results may show that not only fasting serum glucose but also postprandial 2-h serum glucose are important for diagnosing diabetes in Korean.

Antioxidant Contents and Antioxidant Activities of White and Colored Potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.)

        Sang Hoon Lee,Seung Hee Oh,In Guk Hwang,Hyun Young Kim,Koan Sik Woo,Shun Hee Woo,Hong Sig Kim,Junsoo Lee,Heon Sang Jeong 한국식품영양과학회 2016 Preventive Nutrition and Food Science Vol.21 No.2

This study was performed to evaluate and compare the antioxidant substance content and antioxidant activities of white (Superior) and colored (Hongyoung, Jayoung, Jasim, Seohong, and Jaseo) potatoes. The potatoes were extracted with 80% ethanol and were evaluated for the total polyphenol, flavonoid, and anthocyanin contents and for 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)/2,2’-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS) radical scavenging activity, reducing power, and ferrous metal ion chelating effect. The total polyphenol, flavonoid, and anthocyanin contents of Hongyoung and Jayoung were higher than white and other colored potatoes. All colored potato extracts, except for Jaseo and Seohong, showed higher ABTS radical scavenging activities than the general white potato extract. Hongyoung and Jayoung had the highest ABTS and DPPH radical scavenging activities. Optical density values for the reducing power of Jayoung and Jaseo at concentration of 2 ㎎/mL were 0.148 and 0.090, respectively. All colored potato extracts had lower ferrous metal ion chelating effect than the white potato. A significant (P<0.05) positive correlation was observed between total polyphenol content and total flavonoid content (r=0.919), anthocyanin content (r=0.992), and ABTS radical scavenging activity (r=0.897). Based on these results, this research may be useful in developing the Hongyoung and Jayoung cultivars with high antioxidant activities.

Chemical reactivity of oxide materials with uranium and uranium trichloride

Sung Ho Lee,Choon Ho Cho,Yoon Sang Lee,Han Soo Lee,Jeong-Guk Kim 한국화학공학회 2010 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.27 No.6

A graphite crucible is used for the manufacturing of uranium ingots in the uranium casting equipment of the electrorefining process. Uranium and uranium alloys are typically induction melted in graphite crucibles under a vacuum condition; however, due to the chemical reactivity of uranium and most alloying elements with carbon, a protective ceramic coating is generally applied to the graphite crucibles. To investigate the most suitable ceramic coating material for application to graphite melting crucibles used for the melting uranium in uranium casting equipment, firstly,a thermodynamic analysis using HSC software was performed to examine the chemical reactivity of ceramic oxide materials with uranium and uranium trichloride, and also, experiments concerning the reactivity of molten uranium in some ceramic coated crucibles were performed at 1,300 oC. From the results, yttria was finally selected as the most suitable ceramic coating material for application to graphite crucibles for melting the uranium.

Preparation and Characterization of Electronic Inks Encapsulation for Microcapsule-type Electrophoretic Displays (EPDs)

        Jeong-Ho An,Dong-Guk Yu,Sang-Hyo Kim 한국공업화학회 2007 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.13 No.3

Electrophoretic displays based on electronic inks are promising candidates for electronic-paper applications because of their excellent ink-on-paper quality. Microcapsules containing polymer-coated titanium dioxide and green electronic ink suspensions as core materials were fabricated via complex coacervation using gelatin/acacia as the wall materials. The gelatin/acacia microcapsules were characterized in terms of their microstructure, morphologies, thermal properties, and electrophoretic display cell structure by means of optical microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and thermogravimetic analysis (TGA). The experimental results reveal that the polymer-coated white electronic inks in the microcapsules moved toward the positive electrode, but were pulled back in the opposite direction when the polarity was reversed.
