        Ultrasonic Degradation of Endocrine Disrupting Compounds in Seawater and Brackish Water

        In this study, a series of experiments was conducted on the relative degradation of commonly known endocrine-disrupting compounds such as bisphenol A (BPA) and 17α-ethinyl estradiol (Ee₂) in a single-component aqueous solution using 28 and 580 kHz ultrasonic reactors. The experiments were conducted with three different types of model water: deionized water (DI), synthetic brackish water (SBW), and synthetic seawater (SSW) at pH 4, 7.5, and 11 in the presence of inert glass beads and humic acids. Significantly higher sonochemical degradation (93-97% for BPA) occurred at 580 kHz than at 28 kHz (43-61% for BPA), regardless of water type. A slightly higher degradation was observed for Ee₂ compared to that of BPA. The degradation rate of BPA and Ee₂ in DI water, SBW, and SSW after 30 min of ultrasound irradiation at 580 kHz increased slightly with the increase in pH from 4 (0.073-0.091 min-1 for BPA and 0.081-0.094 min-1 for Ee₂) to 7.5 (0.087-0.114 min-1 for BPA and 0.092?0.124 min-1 for Ee₂). In contrast, significant degradation was observed at pH 11 (0.149-0.221 min-1 for BPA and 0.147-0.228 min-1 for Ee₂). For the given frequencies of 28 and 580 kHz, the degradation rate increased in the presence of glass beads (0.1 mm and 25 g) for both BPA and Ee₂: 0.018-0.107 min-1 without beads and 0.052-0.142 min-1 with beads for BPA; 0.021-0.111 min-1 without beads and 0.054-0.136 min-1 with beads for Ee₂. A slight increase in degradation of both BPA and Ee₂ was found as the concentration of dissolved organic carbon (DOC, humic acids) increased in both SBW and SSW: 0.107-0.115 min-1 in SBW and 0.087-0.101 min-1 in SSW for BPA; 0.111-0.111 min-1 in SWB and 0.092-0.105 min-1 in SSW for Ee₂. After 30 min of sonicating the humic acid solution, DOC removal varied depending on the water type: 27% (3 mg L-1) and 7% (10 mg L-1) in SBW and 7% (3 mg L-1) and 4% (10 mg L-1) in SSW.

        Production of Iron-Binding Peptides from Colostral Whey by Enzymatic Hydrolysis

        Colostral whey prepared from colostrum (pooled from first six post-partum milkings) was heated for 10 min at 100oC. Heated colostral whey was incubated with 1% enzymes (protein equivalent basis) for 15, 30, 60, 90, and 120 min at 50oC. Papain, pepsin, trypsin, and alcalase produced different degrees of hydrolysis (DH), 10.66%, 12.42%, 10.83%, and 25.31%, respectively, at an incubation time of 120 min. The SDS-PAGE reveals that significant amounts of bovine serum albumin (BSA), β-lactoglobulin (β-LG), and α-lactalbumin (α-LA) survived papain digestion. In contrast, pepsin completely removed BSA but not β-LG present in heated colostral whey. Alcalase completely eliminated BSA, β-LG, and α-LA. This differential hydrolysis was confirmed by reversed-phase HPLC analysis. Using ion-exchange chromatography, fraction-1 (F-1) was obtained from alcalase hydrolysate at a NaCl gradient concentration of 0.25 M. Reversed-phase HPLC chromatograms of alcalase F-1 showed numerous small peaks, which probably indicate that a variety of new peptides were produced. Iron content of alcalase F-1 was 28.94 ppm, which was the highest among all enzyme fractions, whereas iron content of colostral whey was 36.56 ppm. Main amino acids contained in alcalase F-1 were Thr (15.45%), Glu (14.12%), and Ser (10.39%). Therefore, alcalase can be used to generate good iron-binding peptides in heated colostral whey, and the resulting iron-binding peptides could be suitable as a value-added food ingredient for food supplements.

        알루미늄 PEO 코팅의 결정상에 미치는 공정 조건에 대한 연구 I. Unipolar 펄스와 코팅시간

        전해질로 $Na_2SiO_3$을 사용하여 A1050 알루미늄 판재를 pulse 폭 $ 2000{\mu}sec$, impulse 420 V, 400 ${\mu}$sec의 unipolar pulse로 플라즈마 전해 산화 코팅(plasma electrolytic oxidation coating)을 하여 산화 피막을 2, 5, 15, 30분에 따라 형성시킨 다음 산화피막을 분석하였다. 표면에 형성된 산화물의 결정상은 ${\alpha}-alumina$와 ${\gamma}-Alumina$로서 시간에 따른 변화는 없었다. 반응 초반에는 ${\gamma}-Alumina$가 많이 생성되었지만 시간이 갈수록 ${\gamma}-Alumina$의 양에는 변화 없이 ${\alpha}-alumina$가 많이 생겨남을 알 수 있었다. 이런 결과는 micro plasma에 의해서 ${\gamma}-Alumina$가 우선 생성되고, 이후 계속되는 micro plasma의 열에 의해서 ${\alpha}-alumina$로의 전이가 일어나기 때문으로 판단된다. Crystallographic phases of Plasma electrolytic oxidized Al alloy, A1050, were investigated. The electrolyte of PEO was $Na_2Si_2O_3$ and KOH. Unipolar pulse, $ 2000{\mu}sec$ with $400{\mu}sec+420V$ impulse, were applied for 2 min, 5 min, 15 min, and 30 min. ${\gamma}-Alumina$, as well as ${\alpha}-alumina$, was main crystal phase. ${\gamma}-Alumina$ was appeared in the beginning, then the amount of ${\alpha}-alumina$ was increased with time, but the amount of ${\gamma}-Alumina$ remained constant without any increasing. So, it is concluded that plasma gas produce ${\gamma}-Alumina$ at the first, and then ${\gamma}-Alumina$ transform ${\alpha}-alumina$ finally. During the transformation, high temperature of micro plasma gives transformation energy.

      • A5083 同種材의 摩擦容接 特性에 關한 硏究

        This study dealt with the mechanical properties of aluminum alloy A5083 friction welds contained upset length, tensile test, hardness test, observation of microstructure and tensile fractured surface. The welding conditions of the maximum tensile strength of friction weld were revolution 2000rpm, friction pressure 50MPa, upset pressure 110MPa, friction time 1.0sec, and upset time 6.0sec. This study came to these conclusion as follow : 1.The maximum tensile strength was 355MPa which was 102% of the tensile strength 348MPa of the base material. 2.The conditions when maximum tensile strength was acquired, occurred dimple on the tensile fracture surface and upset length was 4.9mm. 3.The maximum hardness was Hv89 in the weld interface and soft zone was confirmed on the heat affected zone(HAZ).

        다양한 적송잎 추출물의 항생제 내성 황색포도상구균에 대한 항균활성 검증

        병원 내 감염의 주된 원인균으로 알려진 황색포도상구균(5. aureus)과 항생제 내성 황색포도상구균(PRSA, MRSA)에 대해 항균활성이 우수한 천연 항균성 물질을 검색하기 위해 적송잎을 대상으로 열수-헥산(HWH), 열수-에탄올(HWE), 헥산, 에탄올 및 열수 등으로 획득된 추출물들로 항균활성을 조사하였다. 헥산, 에탄올, 열수-헥산, 열수-에탄올 추출물들은 그람양성 대표세균인 고초균(B. subfilis), 황색포도상구균 표준균주, 항생제 내성균주인 PRSA 및 MRSA에 대해서 항균활성을 나타내었으며, 특히 MRSA (ATCC 33591) 균주에 대해 다른 균주들 보다 높은 항균활성을 나타냈다. 열수 추출물은 황색포도상구균 표준균주 및 MRSA에서만 항균활성을 나타냈지만, 항균활성은 가장 높아 50 ㎎/㎖의 농도에서 33 ㎜의 생육저해환을 나타냈다. 각 균주들에 대한 생장의 최소저해 농도(MIC)는 HWH 및 HWE 추출물이 모두 0.05 ㎎/㎖의 농도로 가장 낮았고, 열수추출물이 0.5 ㎎/㎖의 농도였으며, 에탄올 추출물은 5 ㎎/㎖의 가장 높은 농도를 나타냈다. 모든 추출물들은 121℃에서 20분간의 열처리 후에도 항균활성이 유지되었으므로 열에 대해 안정한 물질임을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구결과로 식품산업에서 솔잎 추출물을 천연 항균제로 사용할 수 있을 것으로 기대할 수 있다. investigated antimicrobial activities of various pine (Pinus densiflora) needle extracts against antibiotic resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus. Hot water extract showed the highest antimicrobial activity against normal and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), however, it exhibited no antimicrobial activity against penicillin resistant S. aureus (PRSA). Hot water-hexane (HWH), hot water-ethanol (HWE), hexane, and ethanol extracts showed antimicrobial activity against S. aureus, PRSA and MRSA. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of HWH, HWE, hexane, and ethanol extracts were 0.05, 0.05, 0.5 and 5 ㎎/㎖ respectively, and HWH and HWE extracts showed the strongest antimicrobial activity among these extracts. Antimicrobial activities of pine needle extracts were stable after heating at 121℃ for 20 min. These results suggested that pine needle extracts can be used as an effective natural antimicrobial agent for food and medical industries.

      • 영도구의 생식보건사업 성과분석 : 남자중학생을 대상으로 한 성교육 효과 분석을 중심으로 the Effects of Sex Education on Middle School Students

        The purpose of this study was to reduce the sexual problems of middle school students in Youngco-Gu, Busan. The survey was conducted by content analysis which was related with reproductive healty services such as budget, manpower, etc. This study was also conducted with sex education as the object and to measure the effects of sex education. Questionnaires from 203 students(7th-9th graders) in a male middle school were surveyed on Sept. 12-14, 2001. The statistical analysis used were t-test, paired t-test, one-way ANOVA and χ^2 test by using SPSS/PC+ WIN 8.0 program. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, 66.2% of the students among the subjects had a religion, and of those 50% were buddhists, 34.4% christians, 9.5% catholic. Religion of sexual related matters showed no significant effect. Of these students 68.1% showed medium interest in sexual related matters, 18% little interest or none and 13.5% high interest. 8th graders seemed to show more interest in sexual related matters than other grades. 41.8% of Students seemed to get information on sexual matters from friends and 27.1% from the internet. 30.9% of the respondents talked about their boy/girl friends with their parents compared to 43.3% who chose to talk to their friends about their sexual related problems. Second, 56.7% logged into lascivious-sites on the internet. Of those who logged onto lascivious-sites 46.1% logged in once or twice a month, 31.9% once or twice a week, and 2.7% logged in daily, 69.2% Felt curiosity, 23.4% felt indecent and 7.5% felt like engaging in a sexual act after visiting one of these sites. Third, the effects of sex education on experimental groups of 7th graders showed a 2.1 point increase(p<0.1), 4 point increase for 8th graders(p<.001), and 9th graders increased by 3.3 points(p<.001). Therefore this showed that it was advantageous for students to have sex education. Fourth, the effects of sex education on the students attitude showed only a little more improvement than before in the controlled groups whereas the experimental groups showed a large increase in good attitude in a good direction. Therefore, the experimental groups showed better results in sexual attitude compared to the controlled groups(p<.01).

        폴 틸리히의 신학에서 본질, 실존, 그리고 생명의 체계

        The purpose of this study is to show the ontological system of analysis on human existence in the theology of Paul Tillich. He analyzed human predicaments in the ontological frame of essence, existence, and life. According to this frame, Person has essential finitude, existential estrangement, and the ambiguity of life as the human predicaments, In this article, I attempted to demonstrate the system of the essence, existence, and life. In first, there is the double relationship of participation and transcendence between human being and Being itself. Thus, in this condition, the ontological question, the question of being is possible, and a existential person can ask and answer. Second, existential person is restricted by non-being, and this restriction is the finitude. Non-being that happens ontological question is divided into absolute non-being(ouk on) and relative non-being(me on). Ouk on is equal to the Being itself on that everything is ground, because both absolute non-being and being itself have no limitation and concrete contents. Me on is the discontinuity between what it is, what it should be and what it actually is. The finitude of human existence is conditioned by these non-beings. Third, this finitude is the essence of human existence. But essence is not a actuality but a potentiality of being. Essence is relative non-being, the potentiality of being, and existence is the actuality of being. There is discontinuity between essence and existence, potentiality and actuality. This discontinuityis the estrangement. Fourth, essence, existence is not concrete but abstract, In the movements of human‘s concrete life such as self-integration, self-creation, self-transcendence, essence and existence are mixed, not divided perfectly. So life is ambiguous. Tillich‘s ontological system of Analysis on human existence is based on christological doctrine of humanity. He divided the areas of good creation and of fallenness. Person experiences the divine, and asks the question of salvation. This question is the ontological question. Tillich’s analysis on human predicaments -essential finitude, existential estrangement, and ambiguous life- is not the theoretical question, the question of "asking about", but the existential question, the question of "asking for" Thus, We should interpret the analysis of human existence in the light of salvation.
