This study was designed to exam the aged's needs for spiritual nursing care. The purpose was to serve as a basis for the development of spiritual nursing practice. The major findings are as follows : 1. The degree of needs for spiritual nursing care as area was that needs of love and relationship mean 22.0, needs of meaning and object mean 28.2, needs of forgiving mean 13.5. Total needs for spiritual nursing care mean 63.7, which was on the upper middle level. The needs of meaning and object was rated highest. 2. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, needs of love and relatiohship wasn't significanlty different. 3. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, needs of meaning and object was significantly different according to two factors : age(F=7.260, p=0.001), religion(F=5.275, p=0.001). Higher needs of meaning and object was possessed by the older than the younger, by the one who have religion than the other. 4. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, four factors made a significantly difference to needs of forgiving : sex(t=-2.851, p=0.006), age(F=8.201, p=0.001), religion(F=6.928, p=0.000), disease(t=2.327, p=0.024). Higher needs of forgiving was possessed by man than woman, by the older than the younger, by the one who have religion than the other, by the one who have disease than the other.

<P>The carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) storage capabilities of Pinus densiflora in six different stand ages (10, 27, 30, 32, 44, and 71 years old) were investigated in Korea. Thirty sample trees were destructively harvested and 12 were excavated. Samples from the above and belowground tree components, coarse woody debris (CWD), forest floor, and mineral soil (0-30 cm) were collected. Tree biomass was highest in the 71-year-old stand (202.8 t ha(-1)) and lowest in the 10-year-old stand (18.4 t ha(-1)). C and N storage in the mineral soil was higher in the 71-year-old stand than in the other stands, mainly due to higher soil C and N concentrations. Consequently, the total ecosystem C and N storage (tree+forest floor+CWD+soil) was positively correlated with stand age: increasing from a minimum in the 10 year old stand (18.8 t C ha(-1) and 1.3 t N ha(-1)) to a maximum in the 71-year-old stand (201.4 t C ha(-1) and 8.5 t N ha(-1)). The total ecosystem C storage showed a similar sigmoidal pattern to that of tree C storage as a function of the age-sequence, while N storage in the CWD, forest floor and mineral soil showed no significant temporal trends. Our results provide important insights that will increase our understanding of C and N storage in P. densiflora stands and our ability to predict changes according to stand age in the region.</P>
Quatitative Determination of Sesaminol Glucosides in Sesame Seed

The sesaminol glucosides in 80% EtOH extract from sesame seeds were separated by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). A HPLC system using a Develosil ODS-5 column and gradient elution system from 30% to 80% methanol was selected for separation and quantitative determination of sesaminol triglucoside, sesaminol diglucoside, and sesaminol monoglucoside. Quantitative analyses for these sesaminol glucosides, sesaminol triglucoside, sesaminol diglucoside, and sesaminol monoglucoside were determined on the basis of standard curve of sesaminol glucosides. Sesaminol triglucoside, sesaminol diglucoside and sesaminol monoglucoside contents of the seed of one Korean sesame cultivar, Danbaekggae, were 56.4 mg/100g, 9.6 mg/100g, and 7.5 mg/100g, respectively. In this study, we investigated preservice elementary school teachers` awareness of students` misconceptions about several science topics, and the variables influencing their awareness. Seniors (N=106) from an university of education were asked to predict elementary school students` misconceptions on science topics such as phase changes and dissolution. Their conceptions about teaching and learning were also measured. The results indicated that the preservice teachers` predictions about the kinds and/or the ratios of students` misconceptions were different from those reported in previous studies. The low level preservice teachers in terms of the degrees of possessing traditional conception about teaching and learning predicted more students` common misconceptions. The degrees of preservice teachers` constructivist conception about teaching and learning and their major, however, did not significantly influence the numbers of common misconceptions predicted.

<P>Hwanggunchungyitang (HGCYT) is a newly designed herbal drug formula for the purpose of treating auditory diseases. A number of heavy metals have been associated with toxic effects to the peripheral or central auditory system. Cadmium (Cd<SUP>2+</SUP>) is a heavy metal and a potent carcinogen implicated in tumor development through occupational and environmental exposure. However, the auditory effect of Cd<SUP>2+</SUP> is not poorly understood. The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether HGCYT prevent the ototoxic effects induced by Cd<SUP>2+</SUP> in auditory cell line, HEI-OC1. HGCYT inhibited the cell death, reactive oxygen species generation (ROS), activation of caspase-9, and extracellular signal-related kinase (ERK) induced by Cd<SUP>2+</SUP>. In addition, we observed that cochlear hair cells in middle turn were damaged by Cd<SUP>2+</SUP>. However, HGCYT prevented the destruction of hair cell arrays of the rat primary organ of Corti explants in the presence of Cd<SUP>2+</SUP>. These results support the notion that ROS are involved in Cd<SUP>2+</SUP> ototoxicity and suggest HGCYT therapeutic usefulness, against Cd<SUP>2+</SUP>-induced activation of caspase-9 and ERK.</P>

유방의 췌장 전이는 드물게 발생하는 질환으로 저자들은 유방의 침윤성 관암종으로 진단된 지 13년 후 췌장 전이가 발견된 예를 경험하고 보고하는 바이다. 유방암이 췌장으로 전이되는 경우는 매우 드물지만 주로 장시간이 지난 후 우연히 발견되는 경우가 대부분이므로 장기간의 추적 관찰 후에 발견되는 경우가 많고, 원발성 췌장암과의 감별진단이 필요하다. 또한 전이성 췌장암이 발견되었을 때 질환의 범위와 환자의 전신 상태를 고려하여 수술적 제거의 필요성을 판단해야 하며, 일부의 경우 증상과 질병의 조절에 도움이 될 수 있다. Pancreatic metastases from primary breast cancer are very rare. We report a case of pancreatic metastasis from invasive ductal carcinoma 13 years after the initial diagnosis of breast cancer. When the pancreatic mass was discovered, it was believed to be a primary pancreatic cancer due to the long interval from the initial diagnosis of breast cancer to metastasis. However, it was confirmed as metastatic breast cancer based on the pathology after surgical removal. Follow-up imaging has shown no recurrence. (Korean J Med 2017;92:308-311)

Chylothorax is caused by disruption or obstruction of the thoracic duct, which results in leakage of chyle in the pleural space. The most common etiologies are malignancy and trauma. Among the causative malignancies, lymphoma is the most common, followed by primary lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, and other metastatic malignancies. Conversely, prostate cancer has rarely been reported as the cause of chylothorax. We here report a case of metastatic prostate cancer initially presenting as chylothorax, and being disappeared pleural effusion after androgen deprivation therapy. We also discuss the various rare manifestations of metastatic prostate cancer.
