To investigate removal effects of nutrients in stormwater runoff by soil of riparian protection zone, soil column experiment was conducted for 20 months. Artificial stormwater runoff containing phosphate and nitrate was applied on the surface of soil column twice a week, and phosphate and nitrate concentrations were measured from the leached water. Soil of riparian protection zone reduced the released amount of infiltrated water to the surrounding water. After infiltration of 1m depth of soil column, average removal rates of phosphate and nitrate were 97.7% and 74.7%, respectively. As main mechanisms of phosphate are adsorption to soil particle and utilization by plants, periodical replacement of soil and harvesting of plant at the end of growing season are required. For the removal of nutrients in stormwater runoff by the soil layer, soil of riparian protection zone has higher hydraulic conductivity to infiltrate stormwater. Sandy soil having hydraulic conductivity of about 1?0^(-2)㎝/s range might be appropriate for this purpose.

In this study, physical composition analysis was conducted on household waste collected from the storage pit of the household waste incinerator once a month (36 times in total) for three years. The main results obtained from the survey results are as follows. According to a survey of the physical properties of household waste, vinyl/plastic was the highest at 30.2%, followed by food at 26.5%, paper at 14.1%, and fiber at 9.3%. The annual difference in food and plastics is attributed to an increase in food composition ratio and a relatively decrease in plastic composition ratio in 2021, which is presumed to be due to less eating out and ordering delivery food at home due to the COVID-19 situation. Since food waste is separately discharged and recyclable waste is also separated, it can be seen that the variation of major wastes in the household wastes subject to incineration is not large by season. The average weight of one discarded mask was 5.97±0.94 g. The weight ratio of incineration standard garbage bags among household wastes was 1.33±0.46%. The low calorific value estimated by the average physical composition was 3,762kcal/kg, showing a result almost similar to the low calorific value of waste generated in the household part of the fifth waste statistical survey.
Exposure to Ethyl Carbamate by Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages Imported in Korea

Determination of ethyl carbamate content in imported alcoholic beverages in Korea and an exposure assessment were conducted. In gas chromatography/mass spectrometry/selected ion monitoring (GC/MS/SIM) analysis, 2.5-39, 8-263, 6.3-112, 11.3-23.5, 53-94, 8.5-38.5, 7-9.5, 21.3-31.5, 5-832.5, and 10.5-364.8 μg/L of ethyl carbamate were detected in imported beers, sakes, whiskies, vodkas, Chinese liquors, cognacs, tequilas, rums, liqueurs, and wines, respectively. The exposure assessment indicated that the exposure of Korean adults to ethyl carbamate were lower than 20 ng/kg BW per day, (the virtual safe dose) indicating that the amount of ethyl carbamate exposed through fermented food and alcoholic beverages including imported products are currently in the ‘no significant risk level’. However, the present low exposure to ethyl carbamate through the imported alcoholic products was not due to the low contents of ethyl carbamate in imported products, but low consumption of the imported products. Therefore, given increasing importation of alcoholic beverages in Korea, reductions of ethyl carbamate content in imported alcoholic beverages, especially non-distilled products, should be required by regulating limits on the ethyl carbamate content in the imported alcoholic beverages.

본 연구에서는 최근 20년간 국내외에서 연구가 진행되었던 실험실 규모 모의매립조에 관한 연구 결과를 종합적으로 검토하여 운전인자의 종류, 운전목적, 장치의 크기 등을 조사하였다. 이를 통해서 실험실 규모 폐기물 모의매립조를 활용하여 수행할 수 있는 연구 내용과 한계에 대하여 논의하였으며, 이는 추후 관련 연구를 수행하는데 있어서 참고자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다. In this study, a comprehensive review of the results of the research on the lab-scale waste lysimeter or landfill simulation reactor, which has been conducted in Korea and abroad for the last 20 years, were investigated for the type of operation parameters, the purpose of the research, and the size of the device. From the results, the contents and limitations of lab-scale lysimeter research were discussed, and this can be used as a reference for further research.

A new district cooling system using ice slurry for the uncertain cooling load of the future is presented. The chilled water produced by the absorption chillers is used for the base cooling load. The temperature of the chilled water is reduced by mixing of ice slurry depending on increasing of the cooling load. Finally, IPF of the ice slurry is increased up to 10% at the peak load. The transporting mass flow rate is decreased down to 44.7%, and the diameter of the main pipe is decreased down to 66.7%, but the diameter of the branched pipe is designed as the same size of the chilled water.
