Background: Attention is a domain of cognitive function and a central part of cognitive impairment of Alzheimer's disease. Digit span is a brief test for attention. We evaluated attentional change in Alzheimer's disease patients by digit span and calculated sensitivity and specificity for detecting dementia and cut-off score Also we looked into the relationship between digit span and dementia screening tests. Activity of daily living (ADL) behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) Methods: One hundred six patients with Alzheimer's disease and fifteen normal controls were enrolled The patients were tested by digit span and dementia screening tests. Results: Digit span forward and backward were significantly correlated with Korean version of mini-mental state examination (K-MMSE) (r=0 75. r=0.61 p<0 01) Digit span forward and backward were significantly correlated (r>0 47. p<0.01) When we defined the cut-off score of digit forward at 4 or backward at 2 or the difference at 4 It showed the sensitivity of 72% and specificity of 80% for detecting dementia Digit span deteriorated as disease progressed Conclusions: Digit span is an objective indicator of attentional deficits and provides a useful clue to the diagnosis of dementia It can be used as a quick test for dementia screening but influenced by other factors.

<P>In this paper, a pen detection analog system for an electromagnetic resonance (EMR) touch panel is presented. An adaptive charge pump is proposed in the transmitter to drive a high current to the EMR panel and achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the receiver. To compensate for the mismatches between the channels due to fabrication variations of the EMR panels and process variations of the analog front-ends (AFEs), a transmitter driver with an adaptive controller is proposed, and an AFE calibration is implemented in the transmitter and the receiver, respectively. Also, a 9-bit, 2-MS/s time-interleaved flash successive-approximation-register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with 3-bit flash and 6-bit SAR ADCs is proposed to increase the frame rate with small area and power consumption. External noises, such as display and charger noises, can be rejected by the differential processing, analog low-pass filter, and digital filters in the digital signal processor (DSP). This read-out integrated circuit is implemented in a 0.18-μm Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD), and the die area is <TEX>${\text{40 mm}}^{\text{2}}$</TEX> including DSP and ADCs. The power consumptions are 110 and 45 mW in the transmitter and receiver modes, respectively. The SNR is about 39.5 dB and the frame rate is about 300 Hz in the 56 × 70 touch panel.</P>
An Inductive 2-D Position Detection IC With 99.8% Accuracy for Automotive EMR Gear Control System
Kim, SangYun,Abbasizadeh, Hamed,Ali, Imran,Kim, Hongjin,Cho, SungHun,Pu, YoungGun,Yoo, Sang-Sun,Lee, Minjae,Hwang, Keum Cheol,Yang, Youngoo,Lee, Kang-Yoon IEEE 2017 IEEE transactions on very large scale integration Vol.25 No.5
<P>In this paper, the analog front end (AFE) for an inductive position sensor in an automotive electromagnetic resonance gear control applications is presented. To improve the position detection accuracy, a coil driver with an automatic two-step impedance calibration is proposed which, despite the load variation, provides the desired driving capability by controlling the main driver size. Also, a time shared analog-todigital converter (ADC) is proposed to convert eight-phase signals while reducing the current consumption and area to 1/8 of the conventional structure. A relaxation oscillator with temperature compensation is proposed to generate a constant clock frequency in vehicle temperature conditions. This chip is fabricated using a 0.18-mu m CMOS process and the die area is 2 mm x 1.5 mm. The power consumption of the AFE is 23.1 mW from the supply voltage of 3.3 V to drive one transmitter (Tx) coil and eight receiver (Rx) coils. The measured position detection accuracy is greater than 99.8 %. The measurement of the Tx shows a driving capability higher than 35 mA with respect to the load change.</P>
Pleiotropic properties of GOLDEN2-LIKE transcription factors for crop improvement
Kim Sangyun,Choi Heebak,Yi Taegyu,Gwak Dohoon,Ha Sun-Hwa 한국응용생명화학회 2023 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.66 No.-
Crop improvement can be affected by enhancing the efficiency of photosynthesis-associated bioprocesses such as chlorophyll biosynthesis, chloroplast biogenesis, the functioning of photosystems including light-harvesting complexes, and carbon fixation. To achieve this, the GOLDEN2-LIKE (GLK) transcription factors represent promising targets since they play a positive role for greening traits in diverse plants. To scrutinize the pleiotropic impact of GLKs, we summarized all phenotypic traits reported in functional studies that used transgenic approaches to lose or gain gene functions. Additionally, we also discussed altered plant phenotypes with respect to their physiological–biochemical aspects and environmental stress responses. From these results, we conclude that GLKs consistently increase chlorophyll biosynthesis, enhance chloroplast division, and increase photosynthetic rate. They individually influence other traits including yield, phytochemical accumulation, and biotic and abiotic stress resistance. Collectively, GLKs have potential as key regulators to effect increases in overall agricultural quality across plant species. This suggests that they may be among the most promising target genes for future agro-biotechnology applications.
