We describe a 48-year-old man with family history of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) affected by chronic eosinophilic pneumonia (CEP) with severe peripheral eosinophilia. CEP might develop as a complication of longstanding active RA. The patient with 5 months history of seropositive RA and chronic respiratory symptoms, alveolar and blood eosinophilia, peripheral pulmonary infiltrates and pleural effusion on chest imaging. The lung may be involved as an extraarticular manifestation of RA. However, CEP is not recognized as a typical lung manifestation of RA, and the two diseases rarely coexist. The effusion was an eosinophil predominant exudates and was characterized by low pH, and glucose level and high lactic dehydrogenase. The patient responded rapidly to combination of steroids and disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs.
Sectional arch technique 및 Continuous arch technique에 의한 치료후 악궁 형태의 변화에 대한 연구
신미라,차경석 단국대학교 치의학연구소 1995 논문집 Vol.7 No.1
This study was carried out in order to ocompare the amount of tooth movement and the arch size and shape following sectional and continuous arch technique treatment. The sample group for this study consists of 24 persons (older than Hellman stage Ⅲc, Angle's classificationⅠ), who received orthodontic treatment with first premolar extraction in both jaw at Orthodontic Department of Dankook Univ. Dental Hospital. They are classified into Sectional arch technique treatment group (GroupⅠ), Continuous arch technique treatment group (Group Ⅱ) according to methods of treatment. Following conclusions were obtained by cephalometric linear measurements and dental arch measurements using pre- and post- treatment lateral cephalograms and plaster study models. 1. Intercanine widths were increased in both jaw of Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅱ after treatment. The amount of increase in Group Ⅰ was sigmificantly larger than that of Group Ⅱ. 2. Intermolar widths were reduced in both jaw of each groups after treatment. The amount of decrease in Group Ⅱ was significantly larger than that of GroupⅠ. 3. Arch lengths were decreased in both jaw in each group after treatment. Between two groups, no difference was noted before and after treatment. 4. Considering the antero-posterior movement of canine, canine was moved posterioly in both jaw in each group. The amount of canine movement was significantly different in maxilla between two groups. But in mandible, no difference was found between them. 5. Considering the antero-posterior movement of the first molar, the first molar was moved anteriorly in both jaw in each group. But no difference was found between two group.
Oct4 단백질의 DNA - 결합 영역에 융합된 HIV - 1 integrase
이민전,서진욱,김미라,신차균 中央大學校 遺傳工學硏究所 2002 遺傳工學硏究論集 Vol.15 No.1
Human immunodeficience virus type-1 (HIV-1) integrase (IN) mediates integration of viral DNA into the host cell genome which is an essential step during the life cycle of retroviruses. HIV-1 IN shows four enzymatic activities in vitro: non-specific DNA- binding, endonucleolytic (3'-processing), integration (strand transfer), and disintegration activities. Oct4 as a transcription factor recognizes and binds the specific sequences containing 5' -ATGCAAAT-3'. In order to study the specific binding and enzymatic activities of the integrase protein, we constructed the four different fusion proteins (OctIN1, OctIN2, INKOct1, INKOct1) using different combination of HIV-1 IN and Oct4 protein. The fusion proteins were overexpressed in Escherichia coli and purified by Ni-NTA and SP-sepharose columns. Analysis of the enzymatic activities showed that all the four fusion proteins has detectable endonucleolytic and integration activities, suggesting that the fusion proteins can be used to study derected integration and sequence specific DNA-binding of the integrase fusion protein.
Cytotoxic and Apoptotic Activities of Tussilago farfara Extract in HT-29 Human Colon Cancer Cells
Mi-Ra Lee,Mi-Ran Cha,Kyung-Jin Jo,Mi-Young Yoon,Hae-Ryong Park 한국식품과학회 2008 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.17 No.2
The flower buds of Tussilago farfara (TF) have been traditionally used in oriental medicine for the treatment of bronchitis and asthma. In our study, the primary objective was to determine the mechanisms that are inherent to TF-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis, using the methanolic extract of TF (TFM) in HT-29 human colon cancer cells. We found that TFM-induced induced cytotoxicity in HT-29 cells in a dose-dependent manner. This effect was verified via an MTT reduction assay, an lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release assay, and a colony formation assay. Interestingly, we also detected apoptotic bodies on Hoechst staining, and attempted to determine whether TFM-induced apoptosis involved the caspase pathway using a caspase-3/7 activity assay. Overall, the results indicate that TFM contain chemotherapeutic agents and potential candidates use for against human colon cancer cells.
차미라(Cha Mi-Ra) 한국문학회 2006 韓國文學論叢 Vol.42 No.-
This is to look into various appearances of the society depicted in the new-era novel, 〈Byungingahnchinhwaerok〉, which was published in the national newspaper of the early 1900"s, "Daehanminbo", as well as to analogize the novel"s author, based on the author"s perspective. 〈Byungingahnchinhwaerok〉not only expressed a strong criticism against corrupt feudal government officials but also stressed the importance of the sound national economy, not to mention that education is a must in order to build up the economy. Moreover, while anxious about the fate of the nation with the imminent annexation of Korea by Japan, the novel advocated that all fellow countrymen should put their strength together in order to overcome the national crisis. In addition, this paper aims to study the author, based on periodic cognizance and viewpoints present in the work. Moreover it also looks at the writers who took part in the publication of "Daehanminbo", the official paper of the "Daehanhyuphwae", the political organization founded in 1907 to promote the advancement of the nation in various areas. Although writers such as Jung-Soo Yook, Jong-Rin Lee and Hae-Jo Lee seem to have been involved in the publication of 〈Byungingahnchinhwaerok〉, they either believed in Roman Catholicism and Chun-Do-Kyo(a hybrid religion), or offered these religions as the alternative to introducing new western cultures, which does not correspond to the negative standpoint of the 〈Byungingahnchinhwaerok〉 towards the Christianity. Therefore the novel"s author must be Chae-Ho Sin who advocated the advancement of the public welfare, and saving the nation through education. Created in the backdrop of the media control by Japan, the novel, 〈Byungingahnchinhwaerok〉 boasts sharp, objective criticism to the realistic subjects, and was aware of the reality, which was uncommon among novels written in the period.
