The study aims to contribute to the improvement of project management in Vietnam. It focuses on developing new critical success factors (CSFs) which can be used to assess the success of project management in the country. This is a promising issue considering the rapid changes occurring within the business environment. The reason is because CSFs carry great consequences on project management issues, particularly in the context of Vietnam, which is currently experiencing many big scale projects involving both local and foreign investors. Two applications are utilised. One is to adapt the business model of Belassi and Tukel (1996) to observe the transitional and emerging economy of Vietnam. The other is to examine the data collected from a survey to examine the new CSFs which can then be used to assess the success of its projects and project management in Vietnam. The research results showed some remarkable differences between CSFs of Vietnam and foreign countries in both number of success factors and its impact levels which should be paid attention by foreign project managers/owners when doing investment and project management in Vietnam. The outcome generated can be useful to project owners/managers as well as policy makers in Vietnam’s business environment.
Characteristics of an Insect-mimicking Flapping System Actuated by a Unimorph Piezoceramic Actuator

This study introduces an insect-mimicking flapping-wing system, where the rotation, corrugation, and clapping of insect wings have been mimicked. Unlike most motor-driven flapping systems, the flapping in this system is actuated by a unimorph piezoceramic actuator. The artificial wings are first made of a thin polyethylene sheet and then corrugated. As the wings are assembled through a pitching hinge, they can passively rotate about the hinge during the flapping motion due to the resultant aerodynamic force. The effects of the rotation, corrugation, and clapping of the wings are experimentally explored with respect to the vertical force produced by the flapping system. A smoke-wire flow visualization is also conducted to confirm whether the flapping-wing system can generate leading edge and trailing edge vortices, which are essential for generating lift and thrust in insect flight.

In this work, we study the magnetic properties of a CoFe/NiFe/PZT heterostructured nanocompositethat is affected by the strain in the PZT substrate when a voltage in the range from –250to 250 V is applied. An interesting electric-voltage-controlled magnetic anisotropy, with a relativeincrease in magnetization up to above 100%, is observed. This brings a new challenge to operate alow-power-consuming spin electronic device. We also utilize a theoretical model based on interfacecharge-mediated and strain-mediated magnetic-electric coupling to understand the change in themagnetic properties of the investigated material.

Internationalization of multinational companies in the globalized context is a popular topic in the academic world and it is also a strong concern of CEO/managers. However, this topic has not been well discussed in the academic community in Vietnam that can be contextualized in the typical transition economy. This paper is designed to explore critical success factors (CSF) of internationalization of large Vietnamese companies that have contributed major revenue from the international market. Through interviews with CEO/managers of successful companies geared toward world markets, the CSFs of internationalization have been identified and categorized into groups in which each CSF has interaction with each other, and together have combined impacts on the success of internationalization. The research results provide a conceptual framework to analyze factors affecting internationalization of large Vietnamese companies. Thank to this conceptual framework, further exploratory and/or confirmatory research can be developed to locate more success factors of internationalization. In addition, some particularly critical factors of internationalization success of Vietnamese companies are found to be useful to both CEO/ managers and policymakers. CEO/managers can benefit from the research results by concentrate their limited efforts/resources in managing these CSFs, and policymaker may design CSF-based policies to boost the internationalization of domestic companies.

The photoswitching poly(pyrene-1-ylmethyl-methacrylate-random-methyl methacrylate-random-methacrylate spirooxazine) was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization and characterized by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, UV-visible spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The obtained copolymer exhibited the capability of erasable and rewritable photoimaging, making it a potential candidate for optical data storage materials. Moreover, the copolymer also showed the sensing ability for cyanide anions effect in aqueous solutions.

Compressive sensing is a new signal acquisition paradigm that enables sparse/compressible signal to be sampled under the Nyquist-rate. To fully benefit from its much simplified acquisition process, huge efforts have been made on improving the performance of compressive sensing recovery. However, concerning color images, compressive sensing recovery lacks in addressing image characteristics like energy distribution or human visual system. In order to overcome the problem, this paper proposes a new group-sparsity hard thresholding process by preserving some RGB-grouped coefficients important in both terms of energy and perceptual sensitivity. Moreover, a smoothed group-sparsity iterative hard thresholding algorithm for compressive sensing of color images is proposed by incorporating a frame-based filter with group-sparsity hard thresholding process. In this way, our proposed method not only pursues sparsity of image in transform domain but also pursues smoothness of image in spatial domain. Experimental results show average PSNR gains up to 2.7dB over the state-of-the-art group-sparsity smoothed recovery method.
