      • RST Invariant Reversible Watermarking for 2D Vector Map

        This paper presents a RST (rotation, scaling and translation) invariant reversible watermarking method for 2D vector maps. Firstly, the proposed algorithm selects two reference vertices to calculate the normalized quantization step. Then, for each vertex, the Euclidean distance between a reference vertex and the vertex is divided into equal segments using the normalized quantization step. According to the segment which the vertex is divided into, a watermark is embedded by moving the vertex within its corresponding segment in a revertible manner. This algorithm not only recovers the original content after watermark extraction, but also correctly extracts the embedded watermarks after RST transformations. In addition, to control the distortions introduced by watermark embedding, the embedding parameter is carefully selected. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the proposed scheme provides RST invariance property, and good reversibility, invisibility, computational complexity and data capacity.

        Plate column adsorption of Pb(II) from industrial wastewater on sponge-type composite adsorbent: Optimization and application

        A sponge-type composite adsorbent xanthate-modified chitosan @ titanate nanotubes (XCTS@TNTs) was prepared via a simple and low-cost procedure, and its adsorption capacity was evaluated in batch and continuous plate column systems. The three-dimensional network macroporous structure made it easy to separate from the solution and suitable for the column-based treatment. The excellent adsorption capacity of Pb(II) was as high as 342.47 mg/g and could be obtained in wide ranges of pH and temperature. Interestingly, XCTS@TNTs exhibited outstanding selectivity for Pb(II) rather than other divalent heavy metal ions. Adsorption mechanism was elucidated by the FTIR and XPS analyses. The column adsorption results indicated that the treatment effect was proportional to bed height and inversely to flow rate and influent concentration. XCTS@TNTs was remarkably effective in the removal of Pb(II) from actual industrial effluents to meet the discharge requirements and contributed to the recovery of Pb(II). The treatment volumes of simulated actual battery wastewater and smelting effluent by 2.40 g XCTS@TNTs were as high as 6360 and 49584 mL for Pb(II) with the concentration of 30.55 and 4.49 mg/L, respectively. This work developed a highly practical process for removing heavy metal ions from practical wastewaters.

        Polymorphism of Exon 2 of BMP15 Gene and Its Relationship with Litter Size of Two Chinese Goats

        Polymorphisms of BMP15 gene exon 2 and its relationship with prolificacy of goats were detected by PCR-SSCP and DNA sequencing methods in Chinese two local goat breeds. The results showed that the product amplified by the primers displayed polymorphisms. Three genotypes (AA, BB and AB) were detected in Funiu white goats, and their frequency was 0.071, 0.715, 0.214, respectively. Two genotypes (AB and BB) were detected in Taihang black goats, and their frequency was 0.342 and 0.658, respectively. Sequencing revealed that four mutations (456T${\rightarrow}$G, 466C${\rightarrow}$G, 510C${\rightarrow}$T, 511T${\rightarrow}$C) occurred in genotype BB of Funiu white goat, which resulted in amino acid substitution of V155G and S171P. No mutation was detected in Taihang black goat. The Funiu white goat with genotype BB had 0.91 or 0.82 kids, more than those with AB or AA, respectively. The difference of the least squares means for litter size between BB and AB was not significant (p>0.05) in Taihang black goat. It is concluded that the BMP15 gene may be a major gene which affects the prolificacy in Funiu white goats. This study could provide basic molecular data on the reproductive characteristics of local breeds of Henan province in China, and a scientific basis for the conservation and utilization of those two goat breeds.

        Phylogenetic analysis and classification of insect achaete-scute complex genes

        Achaete-scute complex (ASC) genes play essential roles in neurogenesis of eukaryotes. Insect ASC genes are currently grouped into two distinct families, ASCa and ASCb. However, the identified insect ASCb family genes are not orthologous to known ASCb family genes from other animals such as nematode and mammal. Besides, many ASC genes have been annotated differently in GenBank. In this study, ASC genes from 41 insect species were obtained in silico and analyzed to clarify their evolutionary relationships with known ASC genes from other animals. Based on our analyses, a new naming system is suggested for classification of ASC genes. Firstly, a new family (ASCc) is added into the already existing two families and the gene of this family is named Asl (Achaetescute-like). Secondly, Ash4, Ash5 and Ash6 are used to name insect ASC genes that are not orthologous to ac, sc, l'sc and ase genes of Drosophila melanogaster and Ash1 to Ash3 genes of Bombyx mori. This naming system can be used to correct inappropriate annotations of insect ASC genes in GenBank and to classify newly identified insect ASC genes. Additionally, a vast difference was found in ASC gene composition among various insect species, suggesting that different insect species might have originated from various ancestral lineages.

      • RST Invariant Fragile Watermarking for 2D Vector Map Authentication

        2D vector maps are very important data in geographical information systems (GISs). It is considered to be content for which verification of integrity and authentication are urgently required. Using a marking technique and a rotation, scaling and translation (RST) invariant watermark generation method, we propose a scheme that detects and locates malicious attacks with high accuracy while providing the RST invariance property. In particular, we propose setting a unique mark on each feature, calculating the authentication watermark for each spatial feature group by folding the hash results of the differences of the log-radiuses, and embedding the watermark using a RST invariant watermarking method. While the watermark ensures both the sensitivity to malicious manipulations and the RST invariance property, the mark of each feature provides superior accuracy of tamper localization. Moreover, this algorithm is immune to feature rearrangement and vertex reversing operations. Theoretical analysis and experimental results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

        Neuroprotective potential of imatinib in global ischemiareperfusion- induced cerebral injury: possible role of Janus-activated kinase 2/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 and connexin 43

        The present study was aimed to explore the neuroprotective role of imatinib in global ischemia-reperfusion-induced cerebral injury along with possible mechanisms. Global ischemia was induced in mice by bilateral carotid artery occlusion for 20 min, which was followed by reperfusion for 24 h by restoring the blood flow to the brain. The extent of cerebral injury was assessed after 24 h of global ischemia by measuring the locomotor activity (actophotometer test), motor coordination (inclined beam walking test), neurological severity score, learning and memory (object recognition test) and cerebral infarction (triphenyl tetrazolium chloride stain). Ischemia-reperfusion injury produced significant cerebral infarction, impaired the behavioral parameters and decreased the expression of connexin 43 and phosphorylated signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (p-STAT3) in the brain. A single dose administration of imatinib (20 and 40 mg/kg) attenuated ischemia-reperfusioninduced behavioral deficits and the extent of cerebral infarction along with the restoration of connexin 43 and p-STAT3 levels. However, administration of AG490, a selective Janus-activated kinase 2 (JAK2)/STAT3 inhibitor, abolished the neuroprotective actions of imatinib and decreased the expression of connexin 43 and p-STAT3. It is concluded that imatinib has the potential of attenuating global ischemia-reperfusion- induced cerebral injury, which may be possibly attributed to activation of JAK2/ STAT3 signaling pathway along with the increase in the expression of connexin 43.

        Changes of projectile attitude and its influence parameters during the process of penetration on the ship plate structure through material point method

        In this paper, the attitude changes of projectile and its influence parameters during the process of penetration on the ship plate structure are studied by material point method. The method is firstly verified by comparing with experimental results. The numerical results agree well with the experimental results. The failure behavior of the plate is similar to the actual situation, and the failure mode is basically the same. With the change of different parameters, the attitude of projectiles will change differently. The greater the penetration velocity, the weaker the influence of other related parameters on the projectile attitude. When other parameters are not changed, the relative size of the strength of stiffener and the thickness of target plate determines the change of the projectile attitude. Analyze from the perspective of energy and force, and finally projectile attitude can be divided into four types.

        UV-crosslinked Solution Blown PVDF Nanofiber Mats for Protective Applications

        Nanofiber mats have received considerable attention from researchers in the field of particulate protection. In thisstudy, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanofiber mats were prepared on a large scale by a solution blowing process, and thencrosslinked by ultraviolet (UV)-radiation using trimethylolpropane tri-acrylate (TMPTA) as a crosslinker. The structure,morphology, mechanical and thermal properties, and protective performance of the nanofiber mats were evaluated. Resultsshow that the addition of TMPTA and UV treatment decreased the diameter of the nanofibers and enhanced the mechanicalproperties, air permeability, and moisture permeability. Nanofiber mats show higher filtration and lower filtration resistancecompared with a commercial product. Furthermore, the nanofiber mats were bonded with Nylon 6 fabric, which showedgood performance as a novel functional layer in protective clothing.

      • All Zero Block Detection of Transform Coefficients in HEVC

        Background/Objectives: During the transform and quantization process in HEVC, there are a lot of zero blocks. The coding time of transform and quantization can be considerably decreased by effectively detecting all zero blocks. Methods/Statistical analysis: This work proposes all uniform quantizer and RDO quantizer zero block detection techniques. Findings: The energy concentration property of DCT is used to suggest an improved transform coefficient estimate approach. Low frequency DCT coefficients are estimated using the Hadamard transform, while the maximum magnitude of high frequency DCT coefficients is estimated using a SATD-based technique. There will be an explicit threshold which can be used to compare the float quantization level of coefficients, and all zero blocks in the uniform quantizer may be effectively found. The stair-like thresholds for RDOQ are obtained through statistical analysis, which makes AZB identification easier. Improvements/Applications: The experimental result shows that uniform quantizer’s coding time can be cut in half, and 40% coding time can be reduced for RDOQ.
