        Biomechanical analysis of distalization of mandibular molars by placing a mini-plate

        Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze the patterns of tooth movements when distalization of mandibular molars using a mini-plate took place. A finite element analysis was applied to analyze patterns of tooth movements. Methods: The model of the mandible and teeth were used to build a finite element analysis model, and a mini-plate was inserted in the mandibular ramus. Two different orthodontic forces were established for displacement of mandibular molars. Orthodontic forces were applied at the level of the bracket and at the level of the cemento-enamel junction in the mandibular canine respectively. Results: Applying orthodontic forces at the level of the cemento-enamel junction resulted in a greater biomechanical bodily movement in distalization of the mandibular molars compared to when the orthodontic forces were applied at the level of the bracket. Applying orthodontic forces to the cemento-enamel junction also resulted in unwanted greater extrusive movements in distalization of the mandibular molars compared to the bracket level. Conclusions: With considering the mode of orthodontic teeth movement, applying different vertical orthodontic forces for distalization of mandibular molars can lead to more effective distalization of teeth.

        성공적인 성취자의 심층 면담을 통한 영재교육의 방향성 탐색

        이 연구는 사회적으로 성공한 인사들의 성취에 영향을 준 요인을 조사하고 영재교육의 개선 방향을 도출하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 성취자 60명을 대상으로 6개 분야(교육, 전공, 가정 및 부모, 대인관계, 여가시간, 업적 및 성공요인)에 대해 반 구조화된 심층면담을 실시하였 다. 연구 결과 많은 성취자들은 적극적인 학생이었으며, 가정은 화목하고 자율적이었고, 차별화 교육 및 학생 중심의 교육이 중요하다고 생각하였다. 개인적으로는 멘티를 지도하고 있지 않다 는 응답자가 많았다. 전공 결정 및 교육은 재능과 흥미의 발견 시기에 맞춰 이뤄져야 한다고 응답하였다. 여가시간 활동으로는 운동, 음악, 독서를 중요시하였으며, 성취의 원동력이 된 것은 호기심, 자신감 등 개인 내적 특성이었다. 영재교육을 수혜한 성취자들은 영재교육의 경험이 성취에 중요한 영향을 준 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 면담 결과를 영재교육의 개선 방향과 관련지 어 시사점을 논의하였다. The purpose of this study was to investigate factors that affected achievement of socially succeeded people, and to draw ways to improve gifted education. To do this, we interviewed 60 achievers. The interview was administrated as semi-structured deep interview about 6 areas - education, major, family and parent, personal relationship, leisure time activity, achievement and motivation of success. The results showed that achievers were active students during their school days. They thought differentiated education and student-centered lessons are important. Many achievers answered they do not have any personal mentee, and decision of majors and education should be matched with the perception of one's potential and interest. Exercises, music, and reading books were strongly suggested as leisure time activities, and the key inner factors for success were curiosity and self-confidence. Beneficiaries of gifted education perceived their experience of gifted education had a positive influence on their achievement. Based on the these results, ways to improve gifted education were discussed.

      • 노인환자의 심폐소생술 금지 결정에 대한 간호사의 인식과 정서 상태

        Purpose: The purpose of this research was to provide basic information in developing nursing guidelines that support the roles of nurses and their coping skills regarding Do-Not-Resuscitate (DNR). This includes understanding nurses' awareness and emotional state when dealing with DNR for geriatrics patients. Method: The subjects were 229 nurses who had encountered DNR situations for geriatric patients at 4 hospitals in D city. A survey was used to measure their awareness and emotional status regarding DNR for the geriatric patients. Results: 51.5% of the nurses received requests for counseling from patients or their respective family members and 28.4% have provided information about DNR. 94.3% of the nurses reported that DNR is necessary and majority of them reiterated that DNR enables the patients to have comfortable and dignified death. 89.1% of nurses perceived the need for DNR guidelines for nurses. Being worried about DNR decision showed the highest score in the emotional status of nurses followed by helplessness, sadness and depression while others felt relieved. Conclusion: Majority of nurses have provided counselling to patients and their family members despite limitation of knowledge in handling DNR cases. Given the results of this study, it is recommended to develop specific guidelines about the roles of nurses when dealing with DNR. It is also important to assist the nurses in increasing their awareness on coping strategies to facilitate better and effective delivery of nursing care to patients and families

        탄소섬유 펼침 기술 및 이를 적용한 적층 복합재료의 기계적 특성

        본 연구는 탄소섬유 펼침 기술을 이용한 적층 복합재료의 특성을 평가하였다. 섬유 펼침 기술이 적용되어 기존 12 K 탄소섬유 토우의 폭이 7 mm에서 20 mm로 늘어나면서 두께가 더 얇아졌다. 폴리프로필렌 필름을 spread tow에 함침시켜 프리프레그를 만들고 이를 적층 후 열압축 성형을 통해 시편을 제조하였으며 이들의 기공함유량 및 인장, 굴곡 시험을 통해 물리적, 기계적 물성을 평가하였다. 그 결과, 탄소섬유 펼침 기술이 적용된 적층 복합재료의 기공함유량이 기존의 섬유 토우를 사용한 것보다 작게 나타났고, 섬유함유량이 낮았음에도 불구하고 기계적 물성이 향상됨을 알 수 있었다. This paper reports a study on a method for achieving lightweight thermoplastic laminate composites referred to as tow spreading technology. Thickness of an unspread 12 K carbon fiber tow is reduced by increasing the tow width from 7 mm to 20 mm. The polypropylene (PP) film was used to stabilize and impregnate the spread tow, covering it into a partially consolidated prepreg: 12 K carbon fiber spread tow/PP. Laminates were fabricated from the spread tow prepreg and control laminate composites were produced from unspread tow prepreg consisting of 12 K carbon fiber and PP. The void content, tensile and flexural properties of the composite laminates were investigated. Consequently, the spread tow laminate composite exhibited lower void content and improved mechanical properties.

      • 혁신생태계 관점에서 본 ‘기술기반 사회문제해결 정책사업’의 개선방향과 중점과제 : 사회문제해결을 위한 정책사업의 프레임과 정책수단 탐색

        The Korean government has been discussing the necessity of a policy response to climate change and aging since the Roh Moo-hyun administration in the mid-2000s. Since then, green growth under the Lee Myung-bak administration and creative economy policies of the Park Geun-hye administration have also become the policy topic of solving social problems through innovation. has emerged as the goal of major innovation policies. As such, ‘social problem’ is recognized as an important policy task in Korea’s innovation policy. In this study, first, the characteristics and limitations of the Korean governments policy projects for the social challenge were examined, and second, by analyzing domestic and foreign research trends, it was attempted to explore a policy frame suitable for the social challenge. It should be taken into account that the policy frame for the social challenge is still dependent on theoretical research on innovation policies or the results of discussions centered on European countries. Therefore, as the third task, we tried to examine the policy tools involved in operating this frame in Korea and the policy practices to implement it. The combination of the Korean governments innovation policy and social problem seems to be very focused on technology development support. In many ‘social challenge’ policy projects, ‘creation of new industries through new technology development’ appears as a policy goal. In addition, social wicked problems, social transformation, and solution of social problems have almost similar policy directions and are progressing within a similar policy framework. Rather than a macro-policy frame that seeks to change the lifestyle and production method of society as a whole, the focus is on solving “local” problems. The policy frame aiming at a social challenge consists of a wide range of contents and a long-term roadmap that aims to trigger not only the structure of R&D and industry, but also changes in scientific knowledge and industrial production methods, and even changes in the consumption patterns of citizens. There are three common problems in the application of policy measures for social challenge to the Korean political scene. First, it is pointed out that, despite the partial introduction of anticipatory policy governance through stakeholder consultation, it has not been able to deviate from the policy decision-making method by government officials over the past several years. Second, the feedback system of evaluation-planning, which revises policy project goals and strategies through policy evaluation, is weak. Third, the living lab is being actively introduced as an experimental space for social challenge, but the results of the living lab are not being accepted by the main stream of research and industry. If the policy to promote the interconnection of the social challenge is focused on expanding investment in R&D within the framework of the existing science and technology policy, changing the support method, and promoting the linkage to commercialization, as the Korean government has done so far It will be difficult to achieve the policy goal of the social challenge. Efforts should be made to discover various social, economic, and cultural factors that continuously cause social problems and to change the structural relationship between these factors. In addition, efforts to implement anticipatory policy planning should be further strengthened on the premise of assessing the social impact of innovation results.

        This study has successively sought core agendas and countermeasures towards them since last year. This study has covered all the four independent agendas, which share a penetrating issue as ‘relationship between innovation and regulation’, and suggested alternatives to overcome regulatory reform of the government by examining the present system. Findings and implications drew from the four research agendas, ‘research foundation-technology-industry infrastructure’, are as follows. First of all, this study analyzed the trends and characteristics of technology-related regulatory research using network analysis. Especially, it analyzed trends and directions of academic research, as a consecutive study that analyzed domestic news articles. Based on the result, domestic research of technological regulation has revolved around Law, and has wide variation depending on the issues. This is in contrast to the trends of overseas research that methodologies develop as the research of technological regulation expands to other disciplines such as economics and development studies. Domestic research of technological regulation has limitations such as lack of academic foundation, lack of continuity and insufficient theoretical development, therefore, it is time to consider coping plans to solve the problems. Second, this paper analyzed regulatory issues arising from blockchain. The uncertainty of blockchain requires changes in viewpoint towards GPTs or disruptive technologies, and it is crucial to complement standards and legal systems. Regarding issues of standards, it is essential to enhance interoperability, setting standards for evaluation, consolidating cyber-security and privacy and SEPs of the blockchain. Issues arising from legal systems, it is important to apply different approaches to the government and private sector to overcome the uncertainty of restriction and fostering. Third, this study conducted case studies of O2O to improve operating patterns and resolve the issues on the entry regulations of the new industry. This study categorized O2O business models based on novelty, relationships with current businesses, the intensity of regulation and analyzed five cases: Uber, Airbnb, Callbus, Heydealer and Veluga. Based on the analysis, problems occurred such as neglecting customer preference, insufficient reviews of path dependency of regulation and insufficient estimation of the ripple effect caused by deregulation. Following suggestions can be taken as countermeasures: systematization to maximize consumer benefits, detecting changes in the legislative environment and obtaining an objective basis while estimating pre-socioeconomic impacts. Fourth, this study analyzed leading TIC companies to formulate master plans for developing the infrastructure of technological regulation. UL, TUV and SGS were the subjects of analysis which have a long history in TIC industry, and we analyzed their growth processes based on the framework of ‘growth strategy-competition-system’. Based on the result, balancing between the accumulation of innovative capacity in a company and separation of public and market function played an important role in coevolution with government systems. As an implication for domestic TIC organizations, it needs to separate public and private characteristics, enhancing global competitiveness and intensified supervision of public areas.
