Research progress and treatment of radiation enteritis and gut microbiota

        Huiwen Ren(Huiwen Ren),Qi Wu(Qi Wu),Zhiqiang Sun(Zhiqiang Sun),Mingming Fang(Mingming Fang),Jun Liu(Jun Liu),Judong Luo(Judong Luo) 대한방사선종양학회 2023 Radiation Oncology Journal Vol.41 No.2

Radiation enteritis is a kind of intestinal radiation injury in patients with pelvic and retroperitoneal malignancies after radiotherapy, and its occurrence and development process are very complicated. At present, studies have confirmed that intestinal microecological imbalance is an important factor in the formation of this disease. Abdominal radiation causes changes in the composition of the flora and a decrease in its diversity, which is mainly manifested by a decrease in beneficial bacterial species such as Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria. Intestinal dysbacteriosis aggravates radiation enteritis, weakens the function of the intestinal epithelial barrier, and promotes the expression of inflammatory factors, thereby aggravating the occurrence of enteritis. Given the role of the microbiome in radiation enteritis, we suggest that the gut microbiota may be a potential biomarker for the disease. Treatment methods such as probiotics, antibiotics, and fecal microbiota transplantation are ways to correct the microbiota and may be an effective way to prevent and treat radiation enteritis. Based on a review of the relevant literature, this paper reviews the mechanism and treatment of intestinal microbes in radiation enteritis.

      • A Focused Crawler URL Analysis Algorithm based on Semantic Content and Link Clustering in Cloud Environment

Mingming Li,Chunlin Li,Chao Wu,Youlong Luo 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.8 No.2

Currently, the efficiency of the existing focused crawlers is not high because of their unsatisfactory precision. In this article, we analyze the URL analysis methods of the existing focused crawlers, and propose a URL analysis algorithm based on the semantic content and link clustering in cloud environment. In this algorithm, the download URLs are clustered with the philosophy of clustering on the basis of VSM to improve the precision of the focused crawler according to the correlation between download URLs and new URLs. The algorithm is evaluated on Heritrix3.10 compared with Best First Search algorithm and Shark Search algorithm. The experiment results demonstrate that the algorithm proposed can collect web pages related to the given topic accurately and effectively. Moreover, the algorithm has a good ability of learning which proves the possibility of this algorithm.

        Chao Wu,Chunlin Li,Wei Yan,Youlong Luo,Xijun Mao,Shumeng Du,Mingming Li 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.11

Opinion leader is an authority person who has great influence in BBS. Their linguistic behavior has a huge impact on net citizen’s behavior and thought. In this paper, we propose an algorithm called OLRA (Opinion Leader PageRank Algorithm) based on topic-field to identify opinion leaders in the Internet forum. In the algorithm the closeness degree factor and sentiment analyses are taken into consideration. Meanwhile, these two authority values are defined as the weight of links among users. The data is collected from a number of posts on Tianya forum which is a famous forum in China. In the experiment, the algorithm is compared with Interest-based PageRank algorithm, online time Algorithm, and Experience-based Algorithm, the result shows that the OLRA algorithm can identify opinion leaders than others in the Internet forum effectively.

ADAPTIVE FEEDFORWARD CONTROL OF A STEER-BY-WIRE SYSTEM BY ONLINE PARAMETER ESTIMATOR

        Xiaodong Wu,Mingming Zhang,Min Xu,Yo Kakogawa 한국자동차공학회 2018 International journal of automotive technology Vol.19 No.1

The tracking control of the steer-by-wire (SBW) system to achevie desired steering motion is the core issue for the design of algorithm. Most of model-based tracking control assumed the constant parameters without the consideration of dynamic characteristics. The external disturbances and model nonlinearities can bring uncertainties of the system parameters. To reduce the influence of parameter uncertainties, an online estimator by output error identification method is proposed to estimate the dynamic parameters of a SBW system. Meanwhile, the parameter gradient projection method is applied to eliminate the parameter drift, while a full order state observer is developed to weaken the effects of noise disturbance during the parameter identification. Since the sensitivity of parameter uncertainties for the feedforward control, the online estimator is incorporated into the control model and improve the controlled robustness. The proposed adaptive feedforward controller is conducted by the real-time experiments to show the tracking performance.

Influence of Partial Replacement of NaCl with KCl on Formation of Volatile Compounds in Jinhua Ham during Processing

        Yingyang Zhang,Haizhou Wu,Jing Tang,Mingming Huang,Jianying Zhao,Jianhao Zhang 한국식품과학회 2016 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.25 No.2

The influence of partial replacement of NaCl with KCl on formation of volatile compounds during Jinhua ham processing was evaluated using GC/MS system. Jinhua ham was treated with either 100% NaCl (I) or 60% NaCl and 40% KCl (II). Formation of volatile compounds increased in Jinhua hams during processing for both salt formulations, particularly at the end of the salting period. There were differences in volatile compound formation between formulations I and II after 45 days of processing. Contents of lipid-derived volatiles (hexanal) and Strecker aldehydes (2-methylbutanal and 3- methylbutanal) were higher in Jinhua hams treated with formulation II after 45 days of processing. Partial salt replacement of NaCl with KCl changed formation of volatile compounds in Jinhua hams and may have affected the flavor of finished products.

Tumor-suppressive miRNA-135a inhibits breast cancer cell proliferation by targeting ELK1 and ELK3 oncogenes

        Akhlaq Ahmad,Weijie Zhang,Mingming Wu,Sheng Tan,Tao Zhu 한국유전학회 2018 Genes & Genomics Vol.40 No.3

Breast cancer is the most common malignant disease amongst women. miRNAs are small, non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression, thus have the potential to play an important role during cancer development. Emerging evidence shows that miR-135a is down-regulated in breast cancer cells, but the functional roles of miR-135a in breast cancer cells remains unexplored. For this purpose, we investigated the expression of miR-135a in breast cancer cells and explored its functional role during breast cancer progression. In vitro study showed that miR-135a may be a novel tumor suppressor. Further studies showed that transcription factors ELK1 and ELK3 are direct target genes of miR-135a that modulates the suppressive function of miR- 135a in breast cancer cells. Induced expression of miR-135a significantly downregulated the expression of ELK1 and ELK3 both at mRNA and protein levels. Furthermore, the effect of miR-135a in MCF-7 and T47D cells was investigated by the overexpression of miR-135a mimics. In vitro, induced expression of miR-135a in breast cancer cells inhibited cell Proliferation and clongenicity. Moreover, a luciferase activity assay revealed that miR-135a could directly target the 3′-untranslated region (3′ UTRS) of ELK1 and ELK3 oncogenes. In addition, rescue experiment demonstrated that the promoted cell growth by transcription factors ELK1 and ELK3 was attenuated by the over-expression of miR-135a. Our study demonstrates that miR-135a regulates cell proliferation in breast cancer by targeting ELK1 and ELK3 oncogenes, and suggests that miR-135a potentially can act as a tumor suppressor.

        Shi Jiyuan,Gao Ya,Wu Shuang,Niu MingMing,Chen Yamin,Yan Meili,Song Ziwei,Feng Hui,Zhang Junhua,Tian Jinhui 한국한의학연구원 2022 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.11 No.1

Background: Core outcome sets (COSs) are the minimum outcomes which should be measured and reported by researchers investigating a specific condition. The definition of standards of COSs vary across different health-related areas. This investigated the characteristics of COSs regarding obstetrics and gynecology (OG) and examined the reports and designs of standards of OG COSs. Methods: A comprehensive search was conduced on the COMET database on December 20, 2019 to identify systematic reviews on COSs. Two reviewers independently evaluated whether the reported OG COS met the reporting requirements as stipulated in the Core Outcome Set-STAndards for Reporting (COS-STAR) statement checklist and the minimum design recommendations as outlined in the Core Outcome Set-STAndards for Development (COS-STAD) checklist. Results: Forty-four OG COSs related to 26 topics were identified. None of them met all the 25 standards of COS-STAR statement which representing 18 items considered essential for transparent and complete reporting list for all COS studies (range: 6.0-24.0, median: 14.0). The compliance rates to 16 standards of methods and result sections ranged from 27.3%–68.2%. Total COS-STAR compliance items for OG COSs with the prior protocol was significantly higher than without prior protocol (MD = 3.846, 95% CI: 0.835–6.858, P = 0.012). None of the OG COSs met all the 12 criteria in the COS-STAD minimum standards (range: 3.0-11.0, median: 5.0). The compliance rates for all three standards of stakeholders involved and all four standards of the consensus process were lower than 60%. Conclusions: Methodological and reporting standards of OG COSs should be improved. ‘‘Anode-free” Zn/LiFePO4 aqueous batteries boosted by hybrid electrolyte

        Jingying Duan,Luofu Min,Mengqian Wu,Ting Yang,Mingming Chen,Chengyang Wang 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.114 No.-

Aqueous rechargeable batteries with Zn as anode directly have become prospective alternatives to conventionallithium-ion batteries. However, the growth of zinc dendrites restricts the practical applicationof Zn anode greatly. In addition, the use of thick zinc foil as anode also increases the total weight of thebattery and impacts the whole energy density. Herein, a kind of ‘‘anode-free” Zn/LiFePO4 battery (zeroexcessZn) is designed to solve such problems, and corresponding electrolyte is optimized to ensurethe electrochemical performance. As a result, ethylene glycol (EG) is added to the aqueous electrolytewith 1.5 M Zn(CF3SO3)2 and 1.5 M LiCF3SO3 as solutes, which not only improves the stability of the electrolyte, but also inhibits the growth of zinc dendrites. And the Zn/Cu batteries with 70 vol% EG/H2Ohybrid electrolyte show highly reversible Zn plating/stripping process, in which the average coulombicefficiency (ACE) is as high as 99.77 % at a current density of 1 mA cm2. In order to better adapt to the‘‘anode-free” Zn/LiFePO4 battery system, the ratio of Zn2+ to Li+ ions in this electrolyte is further optimized, and it’s found that the battery with 2 M Zn(CF3SO3)2 + 1 M LiCF3SO3-70 vol% EG/H2O electrolyteshows the most excellent electrochemical stability, in which the capacity retention rate is 75.2 % after100 cycles at a current density of 1 mA cm2. Our work makes it possible for the application of aqueous‘‘anode-free” batteries.

An Egg-Shaped Elastic Viscoplastic Model for Clay: Experimental Investigation and Constitutive Modelling

        Pan Ding,Luying Ju,Ri-Qing Xu,Zihai Yan,Mingming Wu,Gangping Zhang 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.5

This paper presents the experimental investigation carried out for evaluation of the rheological behaviours of Hangzhou soft clay, and proposes a three-dimensional elastic viscoplastic model to describe the rheological characteristics under triaxial condition. Firstly, the time-dependent behaviours of Hangzhou soft clay, such as creep and strain rate effects, were observed and discussed based on the analysis of rheological tests. Subsequently, a constitutive model was formulated under the framework of Perzyna’s overstress theory and incorporates other developments, including: 1) A smooth and continuous egg-shaped yield surface, whose shape can change from an ellipse to a teardrop shape, thus providing greater flexibility for better modelling; 2) An equivalent time concept, which enables the model to describe the time-dependent behaviours under different loading paths. By varying the shape parameter, the newly established model can be degenerated into modified Cam-clay (MCC) model or Yin-Graham elastic viscoplastic model. Finally, the model was solved numerically using the fourth-order convergent iterative method combined with the Runge-Kutta method. Comparison of simulation results and experimental data shows that the newly proposed model has an ability to predict creep characteristics and strain rate effects of soft clay.

      • A mechanical metamaterial made from a DNA hydrogel.

        Lee, Jong Bum,Peng, Songming,Yang, Dayong,Roh, Young Hoon,Funabashi, Hisakage,Park, Nokyoung,Rice, Edward J,Chen, Liwei,Long, Rong,Wu, Mingming,Luo, Dan Nature Pub. Group 2012 Nature nanotechnology Vol.7 No.12

<P>Metamaterials are artificial substances that are structurally engineered to have properties not typically found in nature. To date, almost all metamaterials have been made from inorganic materials such as silicon and copper, which have unusual electromagnetic or acoustic properties that allow them to be used, for example, as invisible cloaks, superlenses or super absorbers for sound. Here, we show that metamaterials with unusual mechanical properties can be prepared using DNA as a building block. We used a polymerase enzyme to elongate DNA chains and weave them non-covalently into a hydrogel. The resulting material, which we term a meta-hydrogel, has liquid-like properties when taken out of water and solid-like properties when in water. Moreover, upon the addition of water, and after complete deformation, the hydrogel can be made to return to its original shape. The meta-hydrogel has a hierarchical internal structure and, as an example of its potential applications, we use it to create an electric circuit that uses water as a switch.</P>
