Backgroud: DHEA-S is the most abundant steroid hormone in circulation, and primarily secreted from the adrenal cortex, but its physiological role is little known. One of the characteristic features of DHEA-S is progressive decrement of plasma DHEA-S level with advancing age, in contrast, plasma levels of other adrenal hormones are not chaging or littie decreasing. To grasp the trends of plasma DHEA-S level and DHEA-S/cortisol ratio by age in healthy Korean, we measured the plasma DHEA-S levels and DHEA-S/cortisol ratios in healthy Korean. Methods: Healthy Korean(men: 99, women: 102, age range: 15-97 year old)were studied. Subjects were not taking drugs(such as glucocorticoid or androgenic medication) or cigarettes known to modify the plasma level of DHEA-S and cortisol, and had no evidence of hepatic, renal disease or hyperlipidemia as determined by serum lipid, bilirubin, SGOT, SGPT, BUN, creatinine. Data were analyzed by 10-year age group for men and women: i.e, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40- 49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89 and 90 year or more. Plasma DHEA-S levels were measured by using a commercially available RIA kit with 125I labeled-DHEA-SO4(Coat-A Count DHEA-SO4), and for the measurement of plasma cortisol levels, commercial Gamma Coat TM[125I] Cortisol Radioimmunassay Kit was used. Results:. 1) In both men and women, plasma DHEA-S level showed high interindividual variation within the same age group. 2) There were individual sex differences in plasma levels of DHEA-S, in all age groups, plasma DHEA-S levels were significantly higher values for men than for women. 3) Maximum plasma DHEA-S levels(men; 237+-3.35 ug/dL, women; 108+-17.5 ug/dL) were at third decade in both men and women. 4) Both men and women showed the continuous decline in plasma DHEA-S level with age. These age-related decline was more prominent in men than in women(men; y= -3.152 * +292.6, r2= 0.8459, P$lt;0.05, women; y= -1.417 * +143.3, r2 = 0.7278, P$lt; 0.05). 5) As an index of aging, there was no stastical difference between DHEA-S and DHEA- S/cortisol ratio. Conclusion: In healthy Korean, there were high interindividual variation of plasrna DHEA-S levels. In both men and women plasma DHEA-S level was peak at third decade, and from when it declined progressively with age. These results suggest that although the reliability of single plasma DHEA-S measurement are limited, the decline of DHEA-S with advancing age might be a specific marker of endocrinologic hormonal milieu(aging index). Also, concerning to individual adrenal secreting capacity, we measured DHEA-S/cortisol ratio. But we did not found that plasma DHEA-S/cortisol ratio is superior to the plasma DHEA-S level as an aging index. (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 12:245-254, 1997)

Man Soo Han. 1997. Worldview, Culture, and Language. Collected Papers on Christain Language Culture. The purpose of this is to restore morality in language based on living sacrifices in pious, biblical and social-ethical dimensions. And, on the basis of this Purpose, this paper also aims at the establishment of Christian worldview which is the central systematization of Christian culture from which stems its values and system. In order to achieve this purpose, this paper makes an introductory remarks in chapter 1, In chpater 2, this paper argues that worldview functions as congnitive foundation and emotional security. And it integrates culture and monitor culture change based on validation of the deepest cultural forms. In chapter 3, Christian worldview has some words about the cross, reconcilation, life and salvation on the basis of the answers to the questions of our own, such as " I have been redeemed" " I have been called.", and " I am His." Besides the worldview, Christian culture is argued here that its core is the very understanding that we must live a life of living sacrifices in faith, hearing the word of God. In chapter 4, biblical language and morality are argued. It is argued that Jesus is a perfect communicator, a persuasive speaker with consummate skills of speech. It is also proposed that morality is restored only through Jesus as a perfect communicator. And, morality is also restored through our purification and beautification of our language lives. Animal-like language is to be changed into the language of making humans human. In chapter 5, our abstaining from profanity of our sacred words and not to tell a lie in the presence of God and in human society are proposed. In chapter 6, biblical language are proposed. They are symbolic, dialogical, and praying languages. Finally, in chapter 7, this paper proposes that restoration of morality in language is carried out only through the faith that it is not we who speak, but the spirit of our Father who speaks in us. With the help of the spirit we must speak with each other in our Christian culture based on Christian worldview. (Director of the Institute)

사서교사의 리더십에 관한 고찰

이 연구는 사서교사와 리더십에 대한 이론과, 사서교사가 갖추어야 할 리더십에 관하여 조사하여 고찰하는데 목적이 있다. 리더는 앞장을 서서, 여러 사람을 이끌어가는 사람이다. 리더십은 여러 사람을 이끌어 가는 사람이 가지고 있는 능력, 지도력이다. 사서교사는 학교도서관 담당 교사로서 학교도서관 운영을 잘 하는 능력 있는 리더이다. 사서교사는 (1) 솔선수범하여야 한다. (2) 자신감을 가져야 한다. (3) 부지런해야 한다. (4) 직원을 사랑해야 한다. (5) 책임감을 가져야 한다. The purpose of this study is to review the theories about teacher librarian and leadership. Leader is the person who lead the follow men. Leadership is the ability which the person has in leading the followmen. Teacher libralian is the leader who has the competency in operation of the school library. Thus the teacher librarian ought to 1) be the initiative and set an example; 2) have the self confidency; 3) be diligent; 4) love the followmen of school library; 5) possess the responsibility.

헤밍웨이의 『노인과 바다』 : 회화기법의 성공적 복귀와 우화의 시학 A New Poetics of Allegory

The purpose of this study is to analyze both the successful return to the painting technique and the development of the poetics of allegory so noticeable in The Old Man and the Sea. After the photographic realism of "Up in Michigan." Hemingway successfully transformed the painting technique into the style and technique of his earlier works, such as "Big Two hearted River" and The Sun Also Rises. In his middle period works, such as Across the River and into the Trees. For Whom the Bell Tolls, and To Have and Have Not. Hemingway put aside the painting technique and his Iceberg Theory. As a result, these works failed critically. However, Hemingway successfully returned to his painting technique in The Old Man and the Sea. In all his writing. Hemingway best applied the applied the Iceberg Theory of painting technique to The Old Man and the Sea, so this work has deeper levels of symbolic meaning. In The Old Man and the Sea the reader can find various techniques applied successfully, such as image word, symbolic technique, organic composition, objective expression of inner emotion, the stylization of painting technique itself, the rhythm of forward and backward movement of narration, etc. This novella probably makes the most use of Hemingway's Iceberg Theory. With these techniques the style is tense on the surface and suggests myriad layers of meaning in the deep structure. Hemingway successfully constructs a method of adding extra meaning to this work that on the surface appears so simple. He also achieves an objective tone by the simple coupling of the structure. For all its apparent simplicity, however, Hemingway's sentence structure, which leaves more to the reader's own insight, is suggestive. The stripped-down diction, the simple syntax, the repetition, and the use of conjunctions for rhythmic purposes are simplifying techniques used in this story of Santiago. The coupling of the Iceberg Theory style of painting technique and the symbolic of Christian allegory, chiefly produced by Santiago's character, makes beautiful poetics.

Ernest Hemingway의 최후의 인물 : Santiago 그 個性形成過程과 理想的 完成 The Process of Personality Formation and Ideal Completion

Hemingway's last hero Santiago was deeply related with Nick of "Indian Camp." Nick and Santiago are the same hero, it seems. Nick was born in "Indian Camp." Along his life he has been initiated into the worlds of experience. In In Our Time the hero has learned the meanings of birth, good, evil, death, and courage. In Men Without Women his knowledge of the world has been deepened and widened. In A Farewell to Arms, Frederic Henry has consolidated the knowledge of war, love, and death. In the Sun Also Rises. Jake Barnes has tried the various knowledge of love, camaraderie, drinking, courage and evil. In two African stories, "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" and "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber," Harry realizes that his past was in the death-in-life and Francis Macomber achieves the courage of true manhood. Harry tries entering the life-in-death such as the leopard's situation of Kilimanjaro. They have almost completed Hemingway's idealism after having been purged of all human pride. Santiago has arrived at The Old Man and the sea. He has attained the philosophy of undefeated individualism. Santiago, an another name of Nick, seems to be Hemingway's alter ego. His value system of life is, it seems, Ernest Hemingway's.

모바일 매체 플로우와 광고유형이 광고 효과에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 대중화가 이루어진 휴대폰 환경에서 소비자의 행동을 새롭게 파악할 수 있는 플로우 개념에 대해 살펴보았으며, 본 연구의 목적은 매체 플로우 정도와 모바일 광고유형에 따라 광고 효과에 미치는 영향을 검증하는 것이다. 연구결과 휴대폰 사용자의 플로우가 높을 때에는 낮을 때보다 모바일 광고효과가 높게 나타났다. 모바일 풀형 광고와 푸시형 광고 유형별 차이에 따른 광고효과는 광고태도, 브랜드태도에 유의미한 차이를 나타냈으나, 구매의도에서는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 전반적으로 풀형 광고가 푸시형 광고보다 광고 효과가 더 높게 나타났다. 휴대폰 사용자의 플로우가 낮을 때에는 풀형 광고가 푸시형 광고에 비해 광고 태도와 브랜드태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 플로우가 높을 때에는 낮을 때에 비해 모바일 광고를 클릭하는 구매의도의 광고효과가 높게 나타났다. 플로우와 성별과의 관계를 살펴보면, 플로우가 낮을 때에는 여성이 남성보다 광고효과에 더 긍정적인 영향을 보였다. This experimental study was carried out on the assumption that depending on types of mobile advertising and media flow level, their impacts on mobile advertising effectiveness would be different. This study is focused on media flow showing the consumer behavior in the new environment of mobile phones. The results of the study show that when the flow of mobile phone users is lower, it seems to be significant impacts on mobile advertising -- ad attitude, brand attitude, and purchase intention than when the flow is higher. Advertising effects showed significant differences in advertising attitude and brand attitude according to types of mobile advertising. When the flow of mobile phone users is lower, pull-type advertising appeared to have significant impacts on ad attitude and brand attitude. There seems to be sexual differences regarding media flow and advertising effects. When the mobile flow is lower, more positive impact on ad attitude, brand attitude, and purchase intention was shown in women than in men.

In Hemingway's literary world, the protagonist Nick Adams who has the tinge of Biblical name has made a life journey along the writer's works. Nick was born in "Indian Camp" of In Our Time. He has learned the meaning of birth, good, evil, death, and courage in the next works. In "Big Two-Hearted River", he has tried to fish for trouts. His world of experience has been widened in Men Without Women. The name Nick was changed into Frederic Henry in A Farewell to Arms, and here he has deepened the knowledge of love and war. In The Sun Also Rises, Jake Barnes. Nick's another alter ego, has come into the moods of degradation. In translation of his literary background into Africa, the protagonist. Harry or Francis Macomber, has been purge of all human pride, however. At last, Nick's last alter ego Santiago has appeared in The Old Man and the Sea. In short, Santiago is the last name of Nick Adams' life journey in Hemingway's literary world.

The purpose of this paper is to tide over the "aphasia" in our head through "healing words" and to restore our morality to the image of God, that is, to help make humans human on the basis of linguistic morality. In order to achieve this purpose, this paper makes an introductory remark in chapter 1. This paper argues human and language activity in chapter 2. In chapter 3, worldview and language are argued. In chapter 4, "aphasia" of modern men and its healing are argued, and healing words and morality are proposed in chapter 5. Incisional Hernia in Adult Liver Transplant Recipients

Aims: Incisional hernia is one of the complication following abdominal operation. Patients undergoing liver transplantation have a high risk of developing an incisional hernia because of immunosuppression. The purpose of this study is to review incisional hernia cases after liver transplantation and to identify the risk factors for hernia formation. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed and analyzed the medical records of the ninety-four incisional hernia patients after liver transplant recipients from January 2000 to December 2015 in single center institution. Results: 1463 underwent adult liver transplantation during the study period. 94 Incisional hernia patients were found among them. The overall incisional hernia rate was 6.4 %. Mean age was 54 years old and 76.6 % were men. No significant difference was observed for sex, diagnosis, smoking, alcohol, albumin, Child-Pugh score, MELD score, intensive care unit stay, hepatorenal syndrome, ventilator, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, diabetes, bile leakage, wound problems between patients with incisional hernia and patients without incisional hernia. The characteristics of patients with incisional hernia showed old recipient, more body weight, higher body mass index, living donor recipient compared with patients without incisional hernia. Hypertension, tuberculosis, rejection, postoperative complication event before hernia were significant risk factor (p<0.05). Conclusions: Present study identifies the risk factors for incisional hernia. Surgeons should strive to reduce the risk of incisional hernia after adult liver transplantation.

Dr. Man Soo Han. Human's Image and Language Activity in Enlightened Society. Collected Papers on Christian Language Culture. On the basis of restoration of human's image created in God's own image, this paper aims at the establishment of enlightened society by healing the language activity affected by a disease in our heart. In this connecton, this paper makes an introductory remark in Chapter 1, arguing social characteristics and human language activity in Chapter 2, human personality in enlightened society and healed human's image in Chapter 3, the language activity in enlightened society in 4, and finally this paper reaches a conclusion in Chapter 5. Especially, in Chapter 3, as a healed human's image, this paper emphasizes the types of spiritually beantiful image, affluent image at heart, and a cooperative human's image. Also in Chapter 4, this paper suggests the language of mentality and the language of healing. Especially, in the language of healing, as seen in James Chap. 3, we must speak with care we must control talk and cultivate thought. In controlling talk, powerful tongue, perverse tongue, and polluted tongue airs discussed. And, in cultivating thought, humble wisdom, gracious wisdom, and peaceable wisdom are discussed. In conclusion, this paper proposes that we must establish enlightened mental personality and brighter humanity based on the language of mentality and healing, so that we may enlighten our corrupt society.
