Aims: A case-control study of 300 gastric cancer patients and 300 controls was conducted to investigate whether the polymorphisms rs2294008 in PSCA and rs2070803 in MUC1 might be associated with risk of gastric cancer in a Chinese population. Methods: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were genotyped using the Sequenom MassARRAY platform. Results: The data showed that the rs2294008 TT genotype increased gastric cancer risk to an adjusted odds ratio (OR) of 2.26 (95%CI 1.25-4.07), TC to 1.72 (95%CI 1.23-2.42) and TC/TT to 1.81 (95% CI 1.31-2.50), while the rs2070803 GA genotype was associated with a decrease in risk to an adjusted OR of 0.42 (95% CI 0.28-0.62) and rs2070803 GA / AA to 0.46 (95% CI 0.32-0.67). Further stratification analysis revealed that rs2294008 in PSCA consistently increased risk of both intestinal and diffuse-type gastric cancers. The effect of rs2070803 in MUC1 was noteworthily also consistent with both subtypes. Conclusions: Our study suggested rs2294008 in the PSCA gene to be associated with increased risk of gastric cancer and rs2070803 in MUC1 to play a protective role in a Chinese population.

Li-Li Zhang,Zhan-Hui Liu,Xiao-Gu Huang,Qing-Fang Li,Rong Zhang,Zi-Li Xie,Xiang-Qian Xiu 한국물리학회 2014 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.65 No.7
An AlGaN/AlN distributed-Bragg-reflector (DBR) structure with a high Al content was grown byusing plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PA-MBE). The properties of the sample were characterizedby using the transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution X-ray diffraction, atomicforce microscopy, and reflectivity spectrum measurements. The reciprocal space mapping analysisindicated that the strain in the AlGaN layers was partially relaxed. The morphology of the DBRexhibited a surface covered by grains (average size of about 130 nm), and the surface roughness wasabout 2 nm. The spectral measurements showed that the DBR structure presented a peak reflectivityof 68.8% at the center wavelength of 247 nm, which indicated that this DBR structure couldwork in the deep solar-blind UV region with acceptable reflectivity. However, the optical propertiesof the DBR structure were deteriorated by the fluctuation of the Al composition, non-uniformity ofthe layer thickness, the blurry, rough interface in the DBR structure, and so on.
Microwave-assisted Approach for the Rapid Enzymatic Digestion of Rapeseed Meal
Ju-Fang Li,Fang Wei,Lu-Lu Guo,Gang-You Yuan,Feng-Hong Huang,Mu-Lan Jiang,Yuan-Di Zhao,Xu-Yan Dong,Guang-Ming Li,Hong Chen 한국식품과학회 2010 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.19 No.2
This study demonstrates the use of a new microwave-assisted approach for accelerating the enzymatic digestion of rapeseed meal. The effects of different microwave parameters, such as the time, temperature, and power level, on the degree of hydrolysis (DH) were investigated by using response surface methodology (RSM). The maximum predicted DH value (10.2%) was in good agreement with the value obtained experimentally using an alkaline protease, which was 12.57% under optimal conditions. In only 7 min, the microwave-assisted method achieved a DH value similar to that obtained by the conventional enzymatic digestion method (4 hr). Therefore, this new technique for rapid enzymatic digestion will improve the application of rapeseed meal in the preparation of protein hydrolysates for use in food and feed.

The physical mechanisms that induce the transformation of a certain mass of gas in new stars are far from being well understood. Infrared bubbles associated with H II regions have been considered to be good samples for investigating triggered star formation. In this paper we report on the investigation of the dust properties of the infrared bubble N4 around the H II. region G11.898+0.747, analyzing its interaction with its surroundings and star formation histories therein, with the aim of determining the possibility of star formation triggered by the expansion of the bubble. Using Herschel PACS and SPIRE images with a wide wavelength coverage, we reveal the dust properties over the entire bubble. Meanwhile, we are able to identify six dust clumps surrounding the bubble, with a mean size of 0.50 pc, temperature of about 22 K, mean column density of 1.7 x 10(22) cm(-2), mean volume density of about 4.4 x 10(4) cm(-3), and a mean mass of 320M(circle dot). In addition, from PAH emission seen at 8 mu m, free-free emission detected at 20 cm, and a probability density function in special regions, we could identify clear signatures of the influence of the H II region on the surroundings. There are hints of star formation, though further investigation is required to demonstrate that N4 is the triggering source.

To improve the performance of $LiFePO_4F$, a novel sol-gel process is developed. For comparison, ceramic process is also implemented. From X-ray diffraction results we know that each sample adopts a triclinic $P{\bar{1}}$ space group, and they are isostructural with amblygonite and tavorite. The scanning electron microscope images show that the homogeneous grains with the dimension of 300-500 nm is obtained by the sol-gel process; meanwhile the sample particles obtained by ceramic process are as big as 1000-3000 nm. By galvanostatic tests and at electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method, the sample obtained by sol-gel process presents better electrochemical properties than the one obtained by ceramic process.

Fang, Jie-Yu,Li, Zhi-Hua,Li, Qiang,Huang, Wen-Sheng,Kang, Liang,Wang, Jian-Ping Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.12
Background: Resveratrol has been reported to have potential chemopreventive and apoptosis-inducing properties in a variety of tumor cell lines. Objective: In this study, to investigate the effects of resveratrol on protein kinase C (PKC) activity and apoptosis in human colon carcinoma cells, we used HT-29 cells and examined the $PKC{\alpha}$ and ERK1/2 signaling pathways. Methods: To test the effects of resveratrol on the growth of HT-29 cells, the cells were exposed to varying concentrations and assessed with the the MTT cell-viability assay. Fluorescence-activated cell sorter (FACS) analysis was applieded to determine the effects of resveratrol on cell apoptosis. Western blotting was performed to determine the protein levels of $PKC{\alpha}$ and ERK1/2. In inhibition experiments, HT-29 cells were treated with G$\ddot{o}$6976 or PD98059 for 30 min, followed by exposure to $200{\mu}M$ resveratrol for 72 h. Results: Resveratrol had a significant inhibitory effect on HT-29 cell growth. FACS revealed that resveratrol induced apoptosis. Western blotting showed that e phosphorylation of $PKC{\alpha}$ and ERK1/2 was significantly increased in response to resveratrol treatment. Pre-treatment with $PKC{\alpha}$ and ERK1/2 inhibitors (G$\ddot{o}$6976 and PD98059) promoted apoptosis. Conclusion: Resveratrol has significant anti-proliferative effects on the colon cancer cell line HT-29. The PKC-ERK1/2 signaling pathway can partially mediate resveratrol-induced apoptosis of HT-29 cells.
Selective extraction of thorium to directly form self-assembly solid from HNO3 solution
Fang Zhang,Qiang Wu,Lei-Tao Sha,Yang Li,Xu-Xin Li,Ze-Yang Wang,Xuan Fu,Qing-Gang Huang,Bin Liu,Ze-Yi Yan 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.123 No.-
Based on ions exchange between [DMDSA]+[Cl]- (Dimethyl distearyl ammonium chloride) and N,Ndialkyl-succinamide acid (SCA), three novel bifunctional [DMDSA]+[SCA]- ionic liquids (ILs) were firstlysynthesized for extraction of thorium (IV) by self-assembly strategy. The simultaneous extraction andsolidification of Th(IV) were unexpectedly realized in one-step operation using the present ILs in HNO3solution, and more than 99% thorium (IV) was enriched and immediately aggregated into selfassemblysolid at the biphasic interface. The self-assembly solid was further identified by FT-IR, SEM withelement mapping EDS and XPS analysis, and revealing that the self-assembly extraction (SAE) was triggeredby the amphiphilic [DMDSA]+ cations. A three-step extraction mechanism dominated by [SCATh(NO3)4]- was proposed based on the slope analysis method and HRMS analysis. The self-assembly extractionof Th(IV) exhibited the extremely excellent selectivity in the presence of U(VI) and typical lanthanideelements including La(III), Eu(III) and Lu(III), and the separation factors reached 2516 for Th/U, 1885 forTh/La, 1512 for Th/Eu and 558 for Th/Lu, respectively. The proposed SAE strategy was proved to be anefficient method for one-step separation and solidification of thorium ions from U(VI) and/or lanthanides.
The Synthesis and Preliminary Activity Assay In Vitro of Peptide-like Derivatives as APN Inhibitors
Li, Shao-Hua,Li, Gang,Huang, Hui-Ming,Xiong, Fang,Liu, Cheng-Mei,Tu, Guo-Gang 대한약학회 2008 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.31 No.10
Both the aminopeptidase N (APN) and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) are essential metallopeptidases in the development of tumor invasion and angiogenesis. A series of novel peptide-like derivatives were designed and synthesized as antitumor agents. Their structures were confirmed by IR, MS, and $^1H$-NMR. These compounds exhibited potent inhibitory activities against APN and low activity against MMP in vitro. The derivatives with methoxy group show better activities than those with other substituted group and could be used as lead compounds for exploring new APN inhibitors in the future.
