        This is a study to modify the curriculum of the ocean civil engineering department in junior college. We collected and analyzed data which are concerned on the curriculum development or improvement, the marine techniques and the ocean policy. And then we also gathered the opinions of the professors serving at the ocean civil engineering department by holding several conferences and investigated the opinions of the ocean civil engineers serving at the industrial organization by way of the inquring papers. In addition we collected the advices of educational specialists and ocean civil specialists by visiting personally. On the basis of above opinions we developed the jobs of graduates and made a model curriculum shown in Table 6. We tried to intensify the subjects of special basic field related to the ocean & civil engineering and the subjects of basic experiment & practise. The ocean observation practise was newly formed and the E. D. P.S was reinforced.

      • 항 Vancomycin 내성균성 항생물질을 생산하는 Streptomyces sp.AMLK-335의 배양조건

        본 연구는 새로운 항 vancomycin 내성균성 항생물질을 개발하기 위하여 실시되었으며, 전국 각지의 토양 시료로부터 분리한 방선균 중 vancomycin 내성균주인 K-98 Enterococcus faecium 642, K-98 Enterococcus faecium 637 균주에 대하여 항생물질을 생산하는 분리균주 AMLK-335를 선정하여 이 균주의 항생물질 생산에 대한 최적 발효 조건을 검토한 결과, 탄소원 첨가로는 glycerol(0.5%), 질소원 첨가로는 yeast extract(0.5%)가 가장 효과적으로 항생물질 생산에 이용되었고, 비타민을 첨가에 따른 항생물질 생산성의 차이는 크게 나타나지 않았으나, calcium pantothenate 첨가시 항균활성이 비교적 높아졌으며, 금속이온의 첨가는 K+, Pb+, Ba²+, NA²+ , Ca²+를 첨가하였을 때는 항생물질의 생산성이 비교적 높아졌으며, 그중 Ca²+ 첨가구가 가장 생산성이 높았으며, Fe²+ , Hg+의 금속이온을 첨가하였을 때는 항생물질 생산성이 감소하였으며, CaCO₃첨가는 비첨가구보다 높은 항생물질 생산성을 보였으나, 첨가량에 따른 영향은 대체적으로 없었다. pH의 변화에 따른 생산성은 전반적으로 pH가 항생 물질 생산에 영향을 미치지 못하였으나, pH 4.5∼6.0 부근에서는 비교적 높은 항생물질 생산성을보였으며, 통기량에 따른 항생물질 생산성은 통기량이 많을수록 항생물질 생산이 좋았다. 한편 배양기간에 따라 항생물질 생산성을 조사한 결과, 5일째에 가장 높은 항생물질 생산성을 나타내었으며, pH의 변화는 배양 초기에 하강하였다가 점차 상승하는 경향을 보였다. This study was carried out for examining antibiotic productivity of the strain Streptomyces sp. AMLK-335 producing anti-VRE antibiotic. According to different condition, the strain was cultured for 4 days at 27℃ and determined cell growth, pH value and antibiotic productivity using disk diffusion method. In the experiment, the strain Streptomyces sp. AMLK-335 was examined various culture conditions which was added 8 carbon sources, 12 nitrogen sources, 8 vitamins and 11 metal ions in each time and controlled concentration of CaCO₃, initial pH and aeration. From the studies of conditions for antibiotic production, antibiotic productivity was the best to use 0.5% glycerol as carbon source and 0.5% yeast extract as nitrogen source. When several vitamins were added to medium, there was little difference in antibiotic productivity. But the addition of calcium pantothenate slightly increased antimicrobial activity. The addition of metal ion, such as K+, Pb+, Ba²+, NA²+ and Ca²+ slightly increased antibiotic productivity except Fe²+ and Hg+. The addition of CaCo₃showed higher than non-addition experiment in antibiotic production, but there wasn't generally influenced at addition concentration. According to pH change, antibiotic productivity was increased at pH 4.5∼6.0, and when there was a lot of aeration, antibiotic productivity was increased.

      • 칼슘제 수관살포가 참다래의 과실 품질과 저장에 미치는 영향

        This study were carried out to improve Kiwifruit quality and storage life. Three kinds of calcium compound were sprayed and calcium content of fruits, weight loss during fruit storage and fruit quality were investigated. Calcium contents within leaves and fruit were lower in Clef-non treatment than that of control. The calcium content in fruit pericarp of Kalk-H and CaCl2 was 0.04 to 0.05% higher than that of control. Fruit weight and soluble solids content at harvest was a little higher but acidity and fruit hardness was lowered. Fruit weight loss of Kalk-H and CaCl2 treatment was 1.39 to 1.53% lower than that of control during storage. The soluble solids of ripen fruit was 1.0 to 1.3% higher in all treatment and 0.8% higher in Kalk-H treatment in 120 of after storage. Fruit hardness of control fruit was higher at harvest but that of CaCl2 treatmented fruit was 0.39㎏/φ 5㎜ higher in 120 days of storage.

        도시지역 노인의 건강행위 실천 실태

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the health status and health behavior practices of elders living in urban areas. Methods: The participants were selected by convenience sampling and consisted of 137 elders 65 or over living in a city in Kyunggi Province. Data collection was done through interviews using a structured questionnaire. Results: Of the participants. 66.4% perceived their health status as 'not healthy'. The average number of present illnesses reported by the elders was 1.7. The average scores for health behavior practices were low (smoking cessation: 1.64, drinking abstinence: 1.79, exercise: 0.40, regular diet: 1.54, weight control: 1.67, regular physical check-up: 0.77). The scores for health behaviors practices showed significant differences according to general characters and health status. Conclusion: Health promotion programs for elders should be designed to enhance health behaviors practices.

        광에너지 총량에 따른 광중합 콤포짓트레진과 콤포머의 중합도에 관한 연구

        Dental composite resin is filler added, particle reinforced composite material, and the usage range had been enlarged in the posterior restoration through improvement of physical properties. Recently, resin modified glassionomer and compomer are used for various purposes. The degree of polymerization of cross-liked polymer has great importance in determining the mechanical properties and clinical availability of materials. Residual carbon-carbon double bonds have been implicated in causing reduced wear resistance, strength and color stability. The degree of polymerization is an important factor for longevity of a restoration. However the higher the degree of polymerization in resin composites, the higher the shrinkage will result. It has been elucidated that the degree of polymerization was significantly affected by the intensity of the curing light, wavelength of light and irradiation time. In this experiment, 16 kinds of restorative materials such as five kinds of universal composite resin, five kinds of condensable composite resin, two kinds of flowable composite resin, and four kinds of compomer were used. This study examined the effect of light intensity and irradiation time on the polymerization behavior such as the heat release during polymerization and the rate of polymerization by DSC (differential scanning calorimeter), and the degree of double bond conversion by FT-IR. With DSC, the irradiation modes were three different light intensity of 300, 400, 600 ㎽/㎠ and for 40 seconds. With FT-IR, the levels of irradiation energy were 1,500, 40,000, 8,000, 16,000 and 24,000 mJ/㎠ by combining the light intensity of 300, 400, 600 ㎽/㎠ and irradiation time of 5, 10, 20 and 40 seconds. From this experiment, The following results were obtained : 1.In the DSC result, heat of polymerization of composite resin was 23.22∼55.17J/gram and exothermic energy of compomer was 26.50∼52.68 J/gram 2.At the isothermal condition of 27℃, there were exothermal peaks at 40.812∼44.724 seconds from the start of irradiation. The percentage of polymerization by released heat was 19.12∼49.44% after 18 seconds, 37.23∼82.07% after 36 seconds, and 93.57∼98.53% after 54 seconds from the start of irradiation. 3.From FT-IR, the degree of polymerization of composite resin was 17.17∼60.91% and that of compomer was 7.74∼40.82%, and the degree of final conversion was influenced by the kinds of restorative materials and the irradiation energy(p<0.01). 4.As the irradiation energy was increased from 1,500 mJ/㎠ to 16,000 mJ/㎠, the degree of conversion was increased also. However, the degree of final conversion was no significant differences with the irradiation energy of 24,000 mJ/㎠ and 16,000 mJ/㎠(p>0.05). The wavenumber of absorbance peak of aromatic double bond was similar regardless of the restorative materials, and appeared around 1606.67∼1610.67 cm-1. The absorbance peak of aliphatic double bond appeared around 1636.64∼1638.52 cm-1 from FT-IR.

        This study aimed to develop Materials for (The Infant Educare Program) (Dept. of Health & Welfare, 1996). Infant educare Materials were developed through following procedures: 1) analysis of reference and other educare materials 2) content analysis of (The Infant Educare Program) 3) developing materials and 4)testing and revising materials by professionals. Infant educare Materials that developed in this study were constituted of 12 kinds in 5 areas - Materials for management of daycare center, the nursery stories for infants, musical materials for infants, play things for infants, and educational materials for parents. First, materials for management of daycare center were considered various conditions whithin daycare centers and were compased of 2 kinds - diary for educare plan and diskettes for documents. Second, the nursery stories for infants were compased of materials for 3 stages-the weaning stage, the toddling stage, and the independent stage. Similarly, musical materials for infants were composed of 3 stages. And play things for infants were composed of 2 kinds - play things to be easily founded and easily making play things. Finally, educational materials for parents were composed of 2 kinds - guide book for parents education and diskettes for communication with parents. It is needed that persistent attention from professionals in developing and testing materials for infant educare. Also, further educational implications were discussed

      • 비가림 및 망사 시설재배가 참다래의 수체생육 및 과실품질에 미치는 영향

        This studies were conducted to investigate the effects of rain shelter and netting on the tree growth, fruit set fruit quality of kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa). In rain shelter and net house, shoot falling wasn't occurred by strong wind, and fruit set, fruit weight and also fruit malformation, side flowering increased at the same time. In rain shelter house the increment temperature forced blooming date and increased shoot length, leaf number and diameter but in net house these tendencies were not observed. Relative light intensity of rain shelter house was higher than that of net house with standard of field culture (relative light intensity: 100%). Soluble solid content was higher in rain shelter house, and acid content was higher in net house. With the effect of rain sheltering the occurrence of bacterial bloom rot and canker significantly decreased in both rain shelter and net house but insect injury increased. These data showed that rain shelter house is more suitable for kiwi fruit culture.

        Effects of warming and eutrophication on coastal phytoplankton production

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Phytoplankton production in coastal waters influences seafood production and human health and can lead to harmful algal blooms. Water temperature and eutrophication are critical factors affecting phytoplankton production, although the combined effects of warming and nutrient changes on phytoplankton production in coastal waters are not well understood. To address this, phytoplankton production changes in natural waters were investigated using samples collected over eight months, and under 64 different initial conditions, established by combining four different water temperatures (i.e., ambient T, +2, +4, and + 6 °C), and two different nutrient conditions (i.e., non-enriched and enriched). Under the non-enriched conditions, the effect of warming on phytoplankton production was significantly positive in some months, significantly negative in others, or had no effect. However, under enriched conditions, warming affected phytoplankton production positively in all months except one, when the salinity was as low as 6.5. These results suggest that nutrient conditions can alter the effects of warming on phytoplankton production. Of several parameters, the ratio of initial nitrate concentration to chlorophyll <I>a</I> concentration [NCCA, μM (μg L<SUP>−1</SUP>)<SUP>−1</SUP>] was one of the most critical factors determining the directionality of the warming effects. In laboratory experiments, when NCCA in the ambient or nutrient-enriched waters was ≥1.2, warming increased or did not change phytoplankton production with one exception; however, when NCCA was <1.2, warming did not change or decreased production. In the time series data obtained from the coastal waters of four target countries, when NCCA was 1.5 or more, warming increased phytoplankton production, whereas when NCCA was lower than 1.5, warming lowered phytoplankton production, Thus, it is suggested that NCCA could be used as an index for predicting future phytoplankton production changes in coastal waters.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Four temperatures and two nutrient conditions in 8 months were combined. </LI> <LI> Under non-enriched conditions, warming affected positively, negatively, or negligibly. </LI> <LI> Under the enriched conditions, warming in all months except one affected positively. </LI> <LI> Thus, nutrient conditions can alter warming effects on phytoplankton production. </LI> <LI> Ratio of initial nitrate to chlorophyll-a concentration was a critical factor. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Effect of Matrix Metalloproteinases-2 and -9 during IVC-2 on the Development Competence and Gene Expression Profile of Bovine In Vitro-Produced Embryos

        Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMP)-2 and -9 are participated in embryo development, implantation, remodeling of epithelial cell and ovulation. The objective of this study is to evaluate an impact of MMP2 and MMP9 on embryonic developmental competence as well as gene expression profiles of in vitro-produced bovine embryos. After in vitro fertilization, embryos of all groups were transferred into IVC-2 medium treated with MMP2 and MMP9 to check the optimum concentration on the basis of embryo development competence and cell numbers. The optimum concentrations for MMP2 and 9 were 1,200 ng/ml and 300 ng/ml. The blastocyst development competence was not different among 1,200 ng/ml of MMP2 vs. 300 ng/ml of MMP9 vs. combined MMP2+ 9 vs. control groups (41.46 ± 10.66 vs. 37.73 ± 8.92 vs. 45.11 ± 11.41% vs. 41.59 ± 11.88, respectively). Furthermore, the developmental competences to hatching and hatched blastocysts were not also different among the same groups (79.84 ± 12.63 vs. 83.3 ± 17.46 vs. 78.55 ± 14.48% vs. 72.02 ± 14.09). In addition, total cell number was significantly (p<0.05) greater in blastocyst treated with MMP9 300 ng/ml among all treatment groups. On the other hand, there was no significant difference of ICM vs. TE ratio in all groups. The expression of five out of six genes (i.e., MMP2, MMP9, IFNt, SSLP1 and HNRNPA2B1) was different among the groups. The expression of IFNt and HNRNPA2B1 genes was significantly greater in MMP9 (p<0.05), but there was no difference of MMP9 expression between MMP2 and MMP9 group (p>0.05). The normalized expression of MMP2 and SSLP1 was greater in MMP2 than other groups (p<0.05). In conclusion, MMPs treatment during IVC-2 medium was remarkably effected on blastocyst developmental competence and gene expression profiles that are related to embryo quality and implantation.
