일본 미용업계에 있어서의 커리어 개발과 비즈니스 모델

본 연구에서는 비즈니스 및 커리어 개발의 양측 관점에서 미용 산업을 연구하였다. 첫째, 미용 업계가 어려운 상황에 놓여있으며, 이발사와 미용사들이 매력적인 직업으로 간주되지 않고 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 이러한 어려운 환경 속에서, 어떤 자구책과 노력들을 하고 있는지를 조사하였다. 미용업계에서 사업을 하고자 하는 사람들은, 비즈니스 환경과 고객들의 니즈뿐만 아니라, 이발사와 미용사들의 니즈 또한 정확하게 이해할 필요가 있다. 비즈니스 환경에 있어서, 디지털화와 공유경제가 벌써 이루어지고 있으며, 고객의 입장에서도, 서비스 니즈의 양극화와 미용실 선택 행동에도 변화를 가져왔다. 이발사와 미용사의 입장에서는, 실력을 키워서 자신만의 점포를 경영하려는 사람이 많지만, 어시스턴트(조수)로서의 수습기간을 싫어하는 사람도 적지 않다. 셋째, 이 분야의 연구에 있어서는, 비즈니스와 커리어 개발이라는 두 가지 관점에서 접근할 필요가 있음을 강조하였다. 이 업계에서 성공한 기업가들은 반드시 이발사나 미용사 출신이 아니다. 인재로서, 다른 업계 출신자들이 미용업계에 진출한다는 점을 보면, 이 업계에도 이노베이션이 일어날 가능성이 높다는 것을 의미하며, 실제로 그러한 여러 사례들이 존재한다. 이러한 것들은 커리어 개발 부문에서 “계획된 우연성 이론”으로 설명이 가능하다. 그리고 우리들의 사례 연구에서, 미용 업계에 있어서의 7가지 커리어 개발 전략을 제안한다. (0)어시스턴트(조수)라는 노동자, (1)스타일리스트라는 노동자, (2)스타일리스트라는 전문가, (3)점포 매니저, (4)시장 탐구자로서 독립한 스타일리스트, (5)비즈니스 모델의 혁신자, (6)미용산업에의 투자가. 여기에 덧붙여, 미용산업의 비즈니스 모델의 유형을, (1)저가격 체인, (2)10분 헤어컷(일본의 QB HOUSE), (3)프랜차이즈 사업, (4)공유점포 플랫폼, (5)신스타일의 바버숍의 5가지 모델로 정리할 수 있었다. 마지막으로, 이 연구의 실무적 관점에서의 발견 중 하나는, 일반적인 커리어의 선택과 전략을 기획을 고려한다면, 반드시 그 관련 업계의 비즈니스 모델을 연구할 필요가 있다는 점이었다. We studied the hairdressing industry from both a business and a career perspective. First, we determined that the barbers and beauty salons are in a difficult situation and that barber and beautician are not considered attractive professions in Japan. Second, we analyzed what kind of efforts are being made in such a difficult environment. Those who want to develop their business in this industry need to be familiar with the business environment as well as the needs of barbers, beauticians, and customers. Regarding the business environment, there are advances in digitalization and the sharing economy. Regarding customer, there are bipolarization of service needs and changes in salon selection behavior. Regarding barbers and beauticians, many of them want to train and improve their skills to run their own shop, but some dislike training as an assistant. Third, we showed that the industry should be considered from the perspectives of career and business. Successful entrepreneurs in this industry are not necessarily from barbers and beauticians. The entry of people from other careers into this industry has the potential to bring innovation. We found those kinds of cases. They also apply to Planned Happenstance Theory. From the viewpoint of Planned Happenstance Theory, we used case studies to propose the following seven career strategies in hair dressing industry. They are (0) Worker called an assistant, (1) Worker called a stylist, (2) Specialist called a stylist, (3) Manager of a salon, (4) Market seeker as an independent stylist, (5) Innovator of business model, (6) Investor in beauty industry. In addition, we were able to organize the types of business models in this industry into five such as (1) Low-Price Chain, (2) Quick-Cut House, (3) Franchised Business, (4) Share Salon Platform, (5) New Traditional Barber. Finally, one of the practical findings of this study is that the business model of the relevant industry should be considered when thinking career choices and strategy.

NMR Study of Magnetic Properties of Eu1−xSrxMnO3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5)

The perovskite manganite EuMnO3 is known to be a compound with a narrow eg-band width due to small ionic radius of Eu3+ compared to La3+. The Eu1−xSrxMnO3 compounds show complex magnetic properties, depending on the Sr concentration x. We have carried out 55Mn spin-echo nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements on polycrystalline Eu1−xSrxMnO3 (0 ≤ x≤ 0.5) compounds at 4.2 or 1.4 K in order to clarify the microscopic local magnetic state of the Mn ions. NMR spectra have been observed in the frequency range from 250 MHz to 400 MHz. For the A-type antiferromagnetic EuMnO3, the resonance frequency is about 260 MHz, which is much lower than that observed for Mn3+ in La1−xSrxMnO3. For 0.1 ≤ x ≤ 0.4, the resonance lines corresponding to Mn4+ and Mn3+ have been observed at about 315 MHz and 390 MHz, respectively. Furthermore, the spectra originating from Mn2+ have been observed around 590 MHz for 0.1 ≤ x ≤ 0.4. For Eu0.5Sr0.5MnO3, the NMR spectrum spreads widely with several distinct peaks in the frequency range from 250 MHz to 410 MHz, which shows that the compound is in an inhomogeneous state due to competition between the antiferromagnetic and the ferromagnetic states.

Five-Year Survival of Alpha-Fetoprotein–Producing Gastric Cancer with Synchronous Liver Metastasis: A Case Report

Alpha-fetoprotein–producing gastric cancer is associated with poor prognosis because of frequent liver and lymph node metastasis. We present a case with synchronous liver metastasis who survived for 5 years. A 69-year-old man with upper abdominal pain was referred to our hospital. Gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a Borrmann II-like tumor in the lower part of the stomach. Computed tomography revealed a tumor in the left lobe of the liver. Serum alpha-fetoprotein levels were markedly increased. We performed distal gastrectomy after administering oral tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil potassium and administered hepatic intra-arterial cisplatin injection. Liver metastasis showed partial response on computed tomography. Despite left hepatic lobectomy, further metastases to the liver and mediastinal lymph nodes became difficult to control. After sorafenib tosylate administration, stabilization of the disease was observed for 4 months. We conclude that hepatic intra-arterial chemotherapy and oral administration of sorafenib tosylate may potentially improve the prognosis in such cases.

Landslide occurrence prediction using optical flow

There are many natural disasters and many people suffer from them every year. One of them, the landslide, is difficult to predict, since the predictive phenomenon has not been clarified, although the topography and stratum that are likely to cause landslides are roughly expected. In this study, we propose a method of predicting the occurrence of landslide by taking the video of the slope and using the optical flow measurement to obtain the sliding velocity of the slope. We used spatio-temporal differentiation method as an optical flow measurement method, which is suitable to measure small displacements. However, various weather conditions such as wind can affect accurate velocity vectors. In this research, we reduce the influence of weather conditions and explore the possibility of predicting the occurrence of landslide. It is expected to monitor a wide range of mountain slopes to predict the occurrence regardless of the weather.

Serum lactate dehydrogenase is a possible predictor of platinum resistance in ovarian cancer

ObjectiveThe need for tailoring ovarian cancer treatments to individual patients is increasing. This study aimed to evaluate theprognostic value of pretreatment laboratory test data for predicting the response and survival outcomes of platinumbasedchemotherapy in ovarian cancer. MethodsWe enrolled 270 patients with ovarian cancer diagnosed at the Kyoto Medical Center (n=120; group A) and KyotoUniversity (n=150; group B). Data on 9 blood parameters (neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio [NLR], platelet to lymphocyterate [PLR], C-reactive protein, lactate dehydrogenase [LDH], glucose, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein [HDL],low-density lipoprotein, and triglyceride levels), cancer pathology, cancer stage, cytoreduction outcomes, serumcancer antigen 125 levels, platinum-free interval (PFI), disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival were assessedretrospectively. ResultsNLR, PLR, LDH, and HDL were significantly different in advanced stage patients (P<0.001, <0.001, 0.029, and <0.001,respectively). The Kaplan-Meier curves revealed that high LDH level (≥250 U/L) was associated with reduced PFI(P=0.037 and 0.012) and DFS (P=0.007 and 0.002) in groups A and B, respectively. High NLR (≥4) was associated withreduced DFS in both groups (P=0.036 and 0.005, respectively). LDH showed higher area under the curve (AUC) valuesin predicting platinum resistance with a PFI of less than 6 months and 12 months (AUC=0.606 and 0.646, respectively)than NLR. In the multivariate analysis, LDH remained significant (P=0.019) after adjusting for the 9 blood parameters. ConclusionSerum LDH level may possibly predict platinum resistance and prognosis in ovarian cancer and may be useful whendeveloping precision medicine for individual patients.
