A Sampling Plan for the Selection of Supplier using Process Yield Index based on Linear Profiles
Kalsoom Afzal,Muhammad Aslam,Chi-Hyuck Jun,Liaquat Ahmad 대한산업공학회 2017 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.16 No.2
In this article, a multiple dependent state repetitive (MDSR) sampling plan is developed to choose a more capable process by comparing two suppliers’ processes. The proposed MDSR plan is based on the ratio of two process yield indices based on the estimated linear profiles. The linear profile for both processes is estimated by a regression model with a single explanatory variable having the specified number of levels. The operating characteristic function of the proposed plan will be derived. The plan parameters related to the decision rule as well as the sample size are determined by minimizing the average sample number while satisfying the producer’s and the consumer’s risks.

Pakistan has been facing an energy crisis for many years. Techno-economic analysis of wind power generation is carried out to meet energy demand. Wind data from 2016 to 2018 has been selected for a coastal site of Sindh, Pakistan. For this purpose, four distribution functions, namely Weibull, Gamma, Rayleigh, and Lognormal are used. These distribution functions are compared using the coeffi cient of determination (R 2 ) and root mean square error tests. Wind potential on a daily, monthly, yearly and seasonal basis is evaluated. In this regard, various turbine models are selected to estimate their power generation capacity. The assessment results for a hub height of 100 m shows the average wind speed for three years is 7.9 m/s with direction dominated between the West and Southwest. The most probable wind speed is 9.5 m/s having a maximum energy density of 455 kWh/m 2 in May. The maximum mean wind speed of 8.55 m/s is in the spring. The Weibull distribution function (k = 2.92 & C = 8.86 m/s) performs the best. The maximum capacity factor for Fuhrlander LLC WTU 3.0–120 is 55.49% and for Siemens SWT-3.15–142 is 55.22%. Likewise, the estimated lowest LCOE ($/1kWh) for Fuhrlander LLC WTU 3.0–120 and Siemens SWT-3.15–142 is $0.04016 and $0.04035 respectively. Thus, this site contains suitable technical and economic characteristics of the wind power plant.
An Image-Based CAPTCHA Scheme Exploiting Human Appearance Characteristics

CAPTCHAs are automated tests that are there to avoid misuse of computing and information resources by bots. Typical text-based CAPTCHAs are proven to be vulnerable against malicious automated programs. In this paper, we present an image-based CAPTCHA scheme using easily identifiable human appearance characteristics that overcomes the weaknesses of current text-based schemes. We propose and evaluate two applications for our scheme involving 25 participants. Both applications use same characteristics but different classes against those characteristics. Application 1 is optimized for security while application 2 is optimized for usability. Experimental evaluation shows promising results having 83% human success rate with Application 2 as compared to 62% with Application 1.

Tuning properties of NC3H quantum dot by adsorption of ammonia and carbon dioxide
Ambreen kalsoom,Fangyuan Wang 한국물리학회 2015 Current Applied Physics Vol.15 No.11
Transport properties of NC3H quantum dot by adsorption of ammonia and carbon dioxide are investigated with an ab initio method combined with a non-equilibrium Green function method. The effects of different configurations of ammonia, size of NC3H surface and position where ammonia and carbon dioxide had been adsorbed onto NC3H quantum dot on transport properties are revealed. In comparison with NC3H quantum dot device, results show that the adsorption of ammonia molecule on NC3H quantum dot in one configuration enhances the conductance of device, while adsorption in another configuration reduces the conductance. The size of NC3H significantly altered the transport properties in both NC3HeNH3 and NC3HeCO2 system. The position of adsorption of ammonia displays obvious change on transport properties while the effects of position of carbon dioxide on transport properties are negligible.

Second-order rate constants (kN) have been determined spectrophotometrically for reactions of Y-substituted phenyl 2-furoates (1a-h) with piperidine and morpholine in 80 mol % H2O/20 mol % DMSO at 25.0 0.1oC. The Brnsted-type plot exhibits a downward curvature for the reactions with strongly basic piperidine but is linear for the reactions with weakly basic morpholine. The slope of the curved Brnsted-type plot changes from 1.25 to 0.28 as the pKa of the conjugate acid of the leaving aryloxides decreases. The pKa at the center of the Brnsted curvature, defined as pKao, was determined to be 6.4. The aminolysis of 1a-h has been concluded to proceed through a stepwise mechanism on the basis of the curved Brnsted-type plot. The reactions of Y-substituted phenyl cinnamates (2a-g) with piperidine resulted in a curved Brnsted-type plot with a pKao values of 6.4. However, the curved Brnsted-type plot has been suggested to be not due to a change in the RDS but due to a normal Hammond effect of a concerted mechanism, since the Brnsted-type plot for the corresponding reactions with morpholine results in also a curved Brnsted-type plot with a pKao values of 6.1. The furoates with a basic leaving group (i.e., 1b-g) are less reactive than the corresponding cinnamates (i.e., 2b-g). The k2/k1 ratios for the reactions of 1b-h are much smaller than unity, which has been suggested to be responsible for their low reactivity.

Second-order rate constants (kN) have been measured spectrophotometrically for reactions of 3,4-dintrophenyl 2-furoate (2) with a series of secondary alicyclic amines in 80 mol % H₂O/20 mol % dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at 25.0 ℃. The Brnsted-type plot exhibits a downward curvature for the aminolysis of 2, which is similar to that reported for the corresponding reactions of 2,4-dintrophenyl 2-furoate (1). Substrate 2 is less reactive than 1 toward all the amines studied but the reactivity difference becomes smaller as the amine basicity increases. Dissection of the second-order rate constants into the microscopic rate constants has revealed that the reaction of 2 results in a smaller k2/k1 ratio but slightly larger k1 value than that of 1. Steric hindrance has been suggested to be responsible for the smaller k1 value found for the reactions of 1, since the ortho-substituent of 1 would inhibit the attack of amines (i.e., the k1 process).
