<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The present research was designed for the selective synthesis of novel bi-heterocyclic acetamides, <B>9a-n</B>, and their tyrosinase inhibition to overwhelm the problem of melanogenesis. The structures of newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by spectral techniques such as 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and EI-MS along with elemental analysis. The inhibitory effects of these bi-heterocyclic acetamides (<B>9a-n</B>) were evaluated against tyrosinase and all these molecules were recognized as potent inhibitors relative to the standard used. The Kinetics mechanism was analyzed by Lineweaver-Burk plots which explored that compound, <B>9h</B>, inhibited tyrosinase competitively by forming an enzyme-inhibitor complex. The inhibition constants K<I> i </I> calculated from Dixon plots for this compound was 0.0027 µM. The computational study was coherent with the experimental records and these ligands exhibited good binding energy values (kcal/mol). The hemolytic analysis revealed their mild cytotoxicity towards red blood cell membranes and hence, these molecules can be pondered as nontoxic medicinal scaffolds for skin pigmentation and related disorders.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Synthesis of novel bi-heterocyclic acetamides and their tyrosinase inhibition to overwhelm the problem of melanogenesis. </LI> <LI> <I>In vitro</I> and <I>in silico</I> analysis were performed to check their inhibitory potential against tyrosinase enzymes. </LI> <LI> The molecules with small sized methyl group/s at <I>ortho</I>-position/s in aryl part or a flexible phenethyl group, generally inhibited the tyrosinase in an excellent manner. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

The study examines the existence of twin deficit in two emerging economies (Turkey and Iran) and also investigates the relation of twin deficit with specific macroeconomic indicators such as the GDP, money supply, foreign direct investment, and the interest rate both in short and long-run periods. The twin-deficit concept refers to a situation where the current account deficit and budget deficits exist in the same corresponding period of an economy. This study employs the Bound Test Autoregressive lag distributed (ARDL) model on time-series quarterly secondary data of Turkey and Iran from 1992 to 2019. The stationarity of variables has been ensured through the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test at the level and the first difference. The results reveal the existence of a twin deficit in both the short and long-run periods only in Iran. Its existence could not be observed in the Turkish economy. The findings suggest a positive relationship between twin deficit and GDP, and a negative relationship between twin deficit and FDI and M2. At the same time, the relationship of the twin deficit with interest rate could not be found in the Iranian economy. The findings may be helpful for economic managers of both countries in executing their economic policies.

CAPTCHAs are automated tests that are there to avoid misuse of computing and information resources by bots. Typical text-based CAPTCHAs are proven to be vulnerable against malicious automated programs. In this paper, we present an image-based CAPTCHA scheme using easily identifiable human appearance characteristics that overcomes the weaknesses of current text-based schemes. We propose and evaluate two applications for our scheme involving 25 participants. Both applications use same characteristics but different classes against those characteristics. Application 1 is optimized for security while application 2 is optimized for usability. Experimental evaluation shows promising results having 83% human success rate with Application 2 as compared to 62% with Application 1.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth and third most common cause of cancer-related deaths. Erythrosine, a commonly used coloring agent in tablet preparation was studied for its role when supplemented with sub necrotic dose of DENA (n-diethyl nitrosamine) to induced HCC in Wistar rats. Single dose of chemical carcinogen DENA with intraperitoneal injection (20 mg/kg) administered before Erythrosine at a dose 0.014 mg/kg by p.o, DENA treated rats and alone. Exposure of DENA and Erythrosine alters the levels of Serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (SGO T), Serum glutamate pyrophosphate transaminase (SGPT), Alkaline phosphate (ALP), Total Bilirubin (TBR), Blood uric acid, urea, lipid profile and Serum alpha-feto protein (AFP) in Wistar rats, with further alteration in intracellular antioxidant enzyme profile Lipid Per oxidation (LPO), Glutathione Peroxidase (GPx), Melanoaldehyde (MDA), Glutathione Reductase (GR), Catalase (CAT), Glutathione (GSH), Glutathione- S-Transferase (GST), Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) along with Vit. C and Vit. E conc.. Moreover Histopathological examinations of the liver tissue showed marked effect of DENA and Erythrosine exposure on liver structure. The results concluded that Erythrosine used as coloring agent for tablet coating as well as food colorant in India, was found to be an inducer as liver proliferating agent and promoter of HCC.
