        Taguchi Approach for Anti-heat Stress Prescription Compatibility in Mice Spleen Lymphocytes In Vitro

        Heat stress (HS) may induce immunosuppression as well as inhibit the proliferation of lymphocytes. This study evaluated the effects on immune function of our prescription on splenic lymphocytes under HS as well as its compatibility. The effects of four herbal extracts from Agastache rugosa, Atractylodes lancea, Cortex Phellodendri, and Gypsum Fibrosum on heat treated splenic lymphocytes were investigated and the compatibility of the prescription was also explored by using the Taguchi method. This study revealed changes in proliferation by traditional Chinese medicines of splenic lymphocytes after HS. Proliferation in the HS group was significantly lower than the control group. Under HS, the effects of higher concentrations of Agastache rugosa (100 and 200 μg/mL), Atractylodes lancea (100 and 200 μg/mL), Cortex Phellodendri (50 and 100 μg/mL) and Gypsum Fibrosum (100 and 200 μg/mL) caused a significant increase on ConA/LPS-induced proliferation of lymphocytes than lower concentrations. We, therefore, conclude that the prescription of traditional Chinese medicines may recover splenic lymphocytes from the immunosuppression induced by HS. The Taguchi design, which allows rapid and high efficiency for the selection of the best conditions for our prescription on HS-treated splenic lymphocytes, demonstrated that Agastache rugosa (200 μg/mL), Atractylodes lancea (200 μg/mL), Cortex Phellodendri (100 μg/mL) and Gypsum Fibrosum (100 μg/mL)were the optimal conditions for the prescription. The validation experiment confirmed that our composition in optimum extraction conditions enhanced effects on ConA or LPS-stimulated lymphocytes under HS. The results showed that the Taguchi optimization approach is a suitable method for optimization of the composition of prescription.

        Soft-template-carbonization route to highly textured mesoporous carbon–TiO<sub>2</sub> inverse opals for efficient photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical applications

        <P>Hierarchically organized mesoporous carbon–TiO<SUB>2</SUB> inverse opal nanostructures were synthesized by complementary colloid and block copolymer (BCP) self-assembly, where the triblock copolymer P123 acts simultaneously as the template and the carbon source. Highly ordered mesoporous inverse opal nanostructures with a nano-textured surface morphology and multiple-length scale nanopores provide increased light-activated surface area and scattering effects, leading to enhanced photoabsorption efficiency and the transport of matter. UV-vis absorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Mott–Schottky measurement studies show that incorporation of carbon moieties into TiO<SUB>2</SUB><I>via</I> direct conversion of BCPs creates a new energy level above the valence band of TiO<SUB>2</SUB>, resulting in an effective decrease in the band gap.         Structure Design and Thermal Analysis of Cryogenic Cooling System for a 1500 A, 400 mH Class HTS DC Reactor

        이 논문에서는 대 전류, 고온 초전도 직류 리액터를 위한 전도 냉각 시스템의 구조 설계에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 초전도 자석, 보 빈, 전류 리드, 고정용 구조물 그리고 열 교환기가 포함된 전도 냉각 시스템 부품의 크기를 3D CAD 프로그램을 사용하여 계산하였다. 또한, 최적의 설계 변수를 결정하고 열적-기계적 특성을 분석하기 위해서 유한 요소법 모델을 제작하였다. 리액터 자석의 운전 전류와 인덕턴스는 각각 1,500 A 400 mH이며, 이에 따른 극저온 냉동기의 냉각 용량을 결정하기 위해 초전도 직류 리액터에서 발생하는 열 부하를 계산하였다. 또한, 대 전류가 흐르는 1 단부전도 냉각 시스템의 작동 테스트를 수행하였다. 구리 바는 40 K까지 냉각되었고 초전도 리드는 안정적으로 작동했다. 실험 결과로써, 1 단부 영역의 총 열 부하는 190 W였다. 본 연구 결과는 상용 초전도 직류 리액터의 설계 및 제조에 있어 효과적으로 활용 될 것이다. This paper discusses a structure design and thermal analysis of cryogenic conduction cooling system for a high current HTS DC reactor. Dimensions of the conduction cooling system parts including HTS magnets, bobbin structures, current leads, support bars, and thermal exchangers were calculated and drawn using a 3D CAD program. A finite element method model was built for determining the optimal design parameters and analyzing the thermo-mechanical characteristics. The operating current and inductance of the reactor magnet were 1,500 A, 400 mH, respectively. The thermal load of the HTS DC reactor was analyzed for determining the cooling capacity of the cryo-cooler. Hence, we carried out the operating test of conduction cooling system of the 1st stage area with high current flow. The cooper bars was cooled down to 40 K and HTS leads operated stably. As a experiment result, the total heat load of the 1st stage area is 190 W. The study results can be effectively utilized for the design and fabrication of a commercial HTS DC reactor.

      • Mesoporous Carbon-TiO<sub>2</sub>Beads with Nanotextured Surfaces as Photoanodes in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

        <P>Mesoporous TiO2 and carbon-TiO2 beads with highly roughened surfaces at the nanoscale were prepared by using triblock copolymer P123 simultaneously as template and carbon source in combination with colloid self-assembly. In addition, their role as modifier of the photoanode in the efficiency enhancement of dye-sensitized solar cells is discussed. Hierarchically organized TiO2 networks can provide fast electron transport paths, and ordered mesopores can enhance light scattering as well as facilitate infiltration of the electrolyte. It was found that there is an optimum loading level of mesoporous TiO2 and carbon-TiO2 beads, that is, 1.0 and 0.5?wt%, with respect to the control P25 TiO2 nanoparticles, respectively, for maximizing the photovoltaic performance. An increase in the photovoltaic performance by up to 21.45% was achieved by incorporation of mesoporous carbon-TiO2 beads into the conventional photoanode of DSSCs owing to enhanced charge transport and collection effects.</P>

        The Porcine FoxO1, FoxO3a and FoxO4 Genes: Cloning, Mapping, Expression and Association Analysis with Meat Production Traits

        FoxO1, FoxO3a and FoxO4 belong to the FoxO gene family, which play important roles in the PI3K/PKB pathway. In this study, we cloned the porcine FoxO1, FoxO3a and FoxO4 sequences and assigned them to SSC11p11-15, SSC1p13 and SSC xq13 using somatic cell hybrid panel (SCHP) and radiation hybrid panel (IMpRH). RT-PCR results showed that these three genes are expressed in multiple tissues. Sequencing of PCR products from different breeds identified a synonymous T/C polymorphism in exon 2 of FoxO3a. This FoxO3a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) can be detected by AvaII restriction enzyme. The allele frequencies of this SNP were investigated in Dahuabai, Meishan, Tongcheng, Yushan, Large White, and Duroc pigs. Association of the genotypes with growth and carcass traits showed that different genotypes of FoxO3a were associated with carcass length and backfat thickness between 6th and 7th ribs (BTR) and drip loss (p<0.05).

        Research on the Development of College Student Education Based on Machine Learning ---Take the Physical Education of Yanbian University as an Example

        This paper is based on Yanbian University's physical test data, and uses statistical analysis methods to study the relationship between college students' physical test scores to promote college physical education. Firstly, using gender as categorical variables, we conduct a general analysis of students in different majors and different grades, and obtain the advantages and disadvantages of male and female college students; then we use Decision Trees and Random Forest algorithms to conduct modeling analysis to provide valuable suggestions for relevant departments of the university. the aiming of this research analyzing about the undergraduates physical test is that giving universities the targeted suggestions to improve the college graduate rate and promote the overall development of higher education, lay the foundation for achieving universal health.

      • Hollow Nanostructured Metal Silicates with Tunable Properties for Lithium Ion Battery Anodes

        <P>Hollow nanostructured materials have attracted considerable interest as lithium ion battery electrodes because of their good electrochemical properties. In this study, we developed a general procedure for the synthesis of hollow nanostructured metal silicates via a hydrothermal process using silica nanoparticles as templates. The morphology and composition of hollow nanostructured metal silicates could be controlled by changing the metal precursor. The as-prepared hierarchical hollow nanostructures with diameters of ∼100–200 nm were composed of variously shaped primary particles such as hollow nanospheres, solid nanoparticles, and thin nanosheets. Furthermore, different primary nanoparticles could be combined to form hybrid hierarchical hollow nanostructures.         Temporary Shear Brace Design Method for Steel Box Girder Viaduct in Transverse Block Construction

        Transverse block of a steel box girder viaduct can decrease the shear connection between the upper part and the lower part. As a consequence, defl ection and defl ection diff erence between blocks are signifi cant, and the performance of weld seams and fi nished viaduct can be aff ected. To decrease the defl ection of steel box blocks with an open section after transverse discretization, a piecewise uniform arrangement of temporary shear braces is proposed on condition that the total shear stiff - ness of the shear braces remains unchanged. First, the formulas for slip, axial force and defl ection with a piecewise uniform arrangement of temporary shear braces are given, and the accuracy is verifi ed by comparing the results with fi nite element method. The proposed formulas are applied to two fi eld studies and the results show good agreement with measured data. Finally, the optimal arrangement of temporary shear braces was explored by the sequential quadratic programming optimization method. The defl ection and the defl ection diff erence at welding position are reduced signifi cantly after bracing, and the optimal shear braces arrangement is to arrange the braces more at the ends of the blocks.

        Effect of different alfalfa cultivars on growth and development of the spotted alfalfa aphid, Therioaphis trifolii(Monell)

        Therioaphis trifolii (Monell) is a well-known pest in alfalfa cultivation in China. Individuals of T. t r i f o l i i were allowed to feed on 10 alfalfa cultivars and their growth, reproduction, and population life table parameters were estimated. Nymphs that fed on Hunter River had the longest development time, whereas nymphs that fed on Defu had the shortest development time. Adults that fed on Debao, Zhongmu No. 2, and Defu had the shortest development time, whereas adults that fed on Golden Empress and Hunter River had the longest development times. Individuals that fed on Zhungeer produced the greatest number of offspring (13.950), and those that fed on Hunter River produced the fewest offspring (6.000). The survival rate of T. t r i f o l i i was the highest on Algonquin and lowest on Hunter River, whereas the survival time was the longest on Golden Empress and shortest on Debao. The population that fed on Algonquin had the highest intrinsic growth rate (0.560) and shortest population doubling time (1.237 days), whereas those that fed on Hunter River had the lowest intrinsic growth rate (0.217) and longest population doubling time (3.194 days). The life table parameters of the experimental T. t r i f o l i i population were used to quantify the resistance strengths of the cultivars. Results indicate that the Hunter River cultivar may effectively resist damage from T. trifolii. This study provides a theoretical basis for breeding aphid-resistant alfalfa cultivars, enabling further research into the prevention and control of aphid infestation.
