        Facile construction of acid-resistant Au nanoclusters via hydrophobic carbon coating for catalyzing CO oxidation in acidic media

        The oxidation of CO in acidic media is very important. For example, in direct methanol fuel cell, CO tendsto poison the Pt electrode and cause a reduction of cell output power. CO can be removed by oxidation under thecatalysis of Au nanoclusters with an optimal size of 2 nm. However, such small Au clusters tend to be corroded in theacidic media. Here we developed a facile method to solve this problem via hydrophobic carbon coating. The Au@Ccomposite was prepared by reverse microemulsion-hydrothermal method. The hydrophobic carbon can effectivelyavoid the corrosion of gold nanoclusters by an acid environment while catalyzing CO oxidation efficiently.

        Sensitive detection of levofloxacin and copper (II) based on fluorescence ‘‘turn on-off” of biomass carbonized polymer dots

        A novel type of biomass carbonized polymer dots (CS-CPDs) with green fluorescence emission were synthesizedvia a one-step microwave-assisted method, using chitosan and maleic acid as the precursors. The fluorescence intensity of CS-CPDs was selectively enhanced (turn on) with increasing levofloxacin(LEV) concentration based on Aggregation Induced Emission Enhancement. The linear range of thismethod was 1–35 lmol/L, with the limit of detection of 0.20 lmol/L. Furthermore, we demonstrated thatthe fluorescence intensity of CS-CPDs/LEV was restored (turn on-off) due to the addition of copper (II),which could assemble a more stable Cu2+/LEV complex through coordination. For the first time, CSCPDswere utilized as a selective fluorescent ‘‘turn on-off” probe for the continuous detection of LEVand Cu2+. Excellent results were also obtained in environmental water samples analysis with recoveriesranging of 91.3–99.6% and 97.7–113.4%, respectively. Moreover, the prepared CS-CPDs exhibited excellentoptical stability and large Stokes shift (139 nm), which predicted broad application prospects inthe field of fluorescence sensing.

        Fabrication of porous Mn<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> microsheet arrays on nickel foam as high–rate electrodes for supercapacitors

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Porous Mn<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> microsheet arrays on nickel foam have been prepared by a mild chemical reaction combined with a calcination process. The porous Mn<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> microsheet arrays are directly grown on the surface of the conductive nickel foam. The porous Mn<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> microsheet arrays are composed of numerous interconnected nanopores with an average size of about 16 nm. The specific surface area of the porous Mn<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> materials is 36.34 m<SUP>2</SUP> g<SUP>−1</SUP>. The fabricated electrode materials exhibit a high specific capacitance of 566.6 F g<SUP>−1</SUP> at a current density of 0.5 A g<SUP>−1</SUP> and 294.4 F g<SUP>−1</SUP> at a current density of 20 A g<SUP>−1</SUP>. The energy density of the porous Mn<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> microsheet was 19.65 Wh kg<SUP>−1</SUP> at a power density of 124.85 W kg<SUP>−1</SUP> and it was reduced to 10.22 Wh kg<SUP>−1</SUP> at a power of density of 5.00 kW kg<SUP>−1</SUP>. The good electrochemical capacitance is ascribed to the interconnected porous structure of the Mn<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> microsheet, which facilitates electrolyte diffusion and enhances electron transport.         Facile Synthesis of Small Gold Nanoparticles Stabilized by Carbon Nanospheres for Selective Hydrogenation of 4-Nitrobenzaldehyde

        We report the facile synthesis of small gold nanoparticles stabilized by carbon nanospheres (Au@C) for highly active and selective hydrogenation of 4-nitrobenzaldehyde. The formation of such a Au@C unique structure can be attributed to the high distribution of Au(III) species in the melamine-formaldehyde resin nanospheres, which were formed via the coordination of Au(III) with the abundant imino groups of melamine-formaldehyde pre-polymer. After the subsequent condensation and confined in situ reduction, small gold nanoparticles, and carbon nanospheres were formed simultaneously. Under the reaction conditions of 80 °C and 1.6 MPa, 99.3% conversion and >99% selectivity were achieved for the hydrogenation of 4-nitrobenzaldehyde to 4-aminobenzaldehyde.

        Delayed Terminal Ileal Perforation in a Relapsed/Refractory B-Cell Lymphoma Patient with Rapid Remission Following Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell Therapy

        Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell strategy targeting CD19 (CART19) has prominent anti-tumor effect for relapsed/refractory B-cell lymphomas. CART19-associated complications have been gradually recognized, however, late-onset complications have not been extensively studied. Herein, for the first time we report a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma patient with terminal ileum involvement obtained rapid remission and developed spontaneous terminal ileal perforation 38 days following CART19 infusion. The late-onset perforation reminds us that, for the safety of CART treatment, more cautions are warranted for the management of delayed GI complications.

        Electrochemical Behavior of a Vacuum-Brazed 10Ni-WC/NiCrBSi Composite Coating

        In this work, a 10Ni-WC/NiCrBSi composite coating was fabricated on a Q235 substrate by using vacuum brazing. The bonding strength, surface hardness and corrosion behavior of the coating were characterized by using shearing, a Vickers hardness test and an electrochemical measurement. The results showed that the bonding strength was 365.1 MPa and that the surface hardness of the coating reached nearly 2500 HV, which was ten times that of the Q235 substrate. The corrosion trend of the coating was analyzed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization curves. The results showed that the electrochemical system of the coating was a charge-transfer control system with a passive behavior. Combined corrosion micro-morphology and the energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) showed that the 10Ni-WC/NiCrBSi composite coating had superior corrosion resistance, but the pitting corrosion resistance of the coating was poor. In addition, after corrosion, the hard phase particles inside the coating were shown not to fail. The corrosion resistance of the vacuum-cladded 10Ni-WC/NiCrBSi coating was obtained.

        Salt template-assisted construction of three-dimensional interconnected network in thermally conductive EP/PVDF/NiCo@GNP composites

        In this study, graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) and nickel–cobalt (NiCo) alloy were adopted as reinforcingmaterials to prepare epoxy (EP) resin-based composites. NiCo particles were able to achieve uniformanchoring on GNPs’ surface under the electrostatic force due to the successful introduction of oxygendefects on GNPs. With the synergistic effect of adhesive PVDF and salt particles, the system with threedimensionally(3D) interconnected network was successfully constructed. Benefit from the formation ofmechanically stable and efficient heat conduction paths, the thermal conductivity (TC) of the EP/PVDF/NiCo@GNP composite reached 1.077 Wm1K1 at a filler volume fraction of 6.82 vol%, while the counterpart’sstoragemodulus (E’) was up to 3.22 GPa. In addition, a scaling formula was quantitatively proposed tocorrelate TC with E’, and the perfect agreement between the theoretical prediction and experimental dataclarified the underlying mechanism of the relationship between phonons transport and stress transferwithin a systemwith 3D ordered structures. The establishment of relationship between AHR (average heatingrate) and TC made it possible to further predict TC of composites based upon the infrared thermal imaging(ITI) data. The as-prepared GNP composites show good application prospects as thermal managementmaterials which need to experience thermally mechanical deformation.

        The complete mitochondrial genome of Hemigrapsus sinensis (Brachyura, Grapsoidea, Varunidae) and its phylogenetic position within Grapsoidea

        Background In this study, the complete mitogenome of Hemigrapsus sinensis was the first identified and analyzed. Objective The complete mitochondrial genome of Hemigrapsus sinensis (Brachyura, Grapsoidea, Varunidae) and its phylogenetic position within Grapsoidea. Methods The sample of Hemigrapsus sinensis was collected and DNA was extracted. After sequencing, NOVOPlasty was used for sequence assembly. Annotate sequences with MITOS WebServer, tRNAscan-SE2.0, and NCBI database. MEGA was used for sequence analysis and Phylosuite was used for phylogenetic tree construction. DnaSP was used to calculate Ka/Ks. Results This mitochondrial genome shows that it was 15,900 bp and encoded 13 PCGs, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and one control region. The genome composition tends to A + T (74.34%) and presents a negative GC-skew (− 0.22) and AT-skew (− 0.03). The PCGs initiation codon was the typical ATN and termination codon was the typical TAN, incomplete T or missing. The ML and BI trees showed that H. sinensis was most closely related to Hemigrapsus and clustered together with the Varunidae. And our phylogenetic trees provide proof that Ocypodoidea and Grapsoidea may be of common origin. Meanwhile, in the phylogenetic tree, parallel mixing of Chiromantes and Orisarma raised doubts over the traditional classification system. Besides, Incomplete Lineage sorting (ILS) was observed in Varunidae. In the subsequent analysis of evolution rate, we found that all of the PCGs (NAD4 was not calculated) had undergone negative selections, indicating the conservation of mitochondrial genes of H. sinensis during the evolution. Conclusion Therefore, researching the complete mitogenome of H. sinensis would be contributing to molecular taxonomy, phylogenetic relationship, and breeding optimization within the Grapsoidea superfamily.
