Explicit solutions for a SWCNT collapse
Jianlin Liu,Junghoon Lee 대한기계학회 2011 대한기계학회 춘추학술대회 Vol.2011 No.10
Self-collapse of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) may prominently affect their electrical properties and holds promise for important applications in the emerging nano-mechanical or electronic systems. Based upon the potential energy functional, we derived the governing equation and transversality boundary condition for a collapsed single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT). Considering the inextensible condition of the elastica, some closed-form solutions for the collapsed configuration were obtained in terms of elliptical integrals. These analytical solutions include the critical length of the flat contact segment, critical radii for collapsed and circular shapes of the cross-section, deflections and potential energies of the SWCNTs. Finally, the energy states and the collapsed morphologies of the SWCNTs were presented. These explicit solutions are beneficial for the design of nano-structured materials, and cast a light on enhancing their mechanical, chemical, optical and electronic properties.
A study on the bearing effect of pier column backfilling in the goaf of a thin coal seam
Jianlin Xie,Weibing Zhu,JiaLin Xu,Jiahui Wen,Chuanzhen Liu 한국지질과학협의회 2016 Geosciences Journal Vol.20 No.3
The pier column backfilling method in the goaf of a thin coal seam introduced in this paper is the latest backfilling technology in China, which has the combined advantages of high efficiency and low cost. In order to fully verify the load bearing effect of this backfilling method, a comprehensive evaluation model which combined the actual measurement, numerical simulation and physical simulation is implemented in this paper. First, the stress bearing formula and backfilling volume rate of a pier column backfilling body is obtained by theory analysis. Then, through field monitoring, it was concluded that the bearing capacity when the backfilling body reached a stable state was similar to the results of theoretical calculation, and no obvious deformation occurred by observation the roadway deformation with the site. Finally, based on the drilling columnar and lithological parameters of the site, corresponding physical and numerical models were established and used to study the bearing effect of this backfilling method. It could be found that the stresses and displacements data that resulted from the simulation relatively confirmed data obtained from the site. After comprehension of above researches, it is concluded that the pier column backfilling method in a goaf has good bearing effect and a good economic benefit for mining thin coal seams.

Based on the panel data about 92 countries of Chinese FDI and related variables from 2004 to 2016, the impact on Chinese FDI overseas layout from key factors of China-US Trade Conflict represented by “Three Zeros, Two Stops and One Allowance” were tested using the Hechman two-stage selection model. The empirical research finds that: (1) China's economic development and investment motives are the driving force of Chinese FDI, while host country resource endowment and international investment policies are the attraction of Chinese FDI. (2) Both stages of China's FDI investment selections and investment scale have significant low-cost seeking motives, high-tech seeking motives and natural resources seeking motives from host countries, and significant large-market avoidance trends. (3) In the Chinese FDI investment selection stage, some of host country's international investment policy represented by “Three Zeros, Two Stops and One Allowance” have significant negative impacts, some are influential but not significant; however, in the Chinese FDI investment scale stage, all of host country’s international investment policies have significant positive impacts.
Current utilization of waste biomass as filler for wood adhesives: A review
Jinming Liu,Yongfeng Li,Hailin Mo,Enjun Xie,Jianlin Fang,Weixing Gan 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.115 No.-
Filler is one of the most important additives for wood adhesives. The introduction of filler offers variousfunctions for wood adhesives, such as the increase of initial viscosity, the decrease of permeability, theimprovement of bonding strength, and the reduction of production cost. However, flour, a grain resource,is widely used as a filler that is added to polymers in the production of wood-based panels. As a result, alarge number of edible resources are wasted every year. Waste biomass that biomass residues are abandonedin nature are a promising filler that can be used to replace flour. The utilization of waste biomass asfiller for wood adhesives to prepare wood-based panels not only improves its mechanical strength, butalso reduces formaldehyde emissions. However, most waste biomass shows disappointing prepressingproperties. Advances in the use of waste biomass as an alternative filler for wood adhesives werereviewed. In addition, the current limitations and future prospects of waste biomass were discussed. Recycling waste biomass is a useful way to avoid the enormous amount of waste generated by differentindustries and control environmental pollution. It contributes to the practical development of circulareconomy.

Ponseticlubfoot treatment has become more popular during the last decade because of its high initial correction rate. But the most common problem affecting the long-term successful outcome is relapse of the deformity. Non-compliance with Ponseti brace protocol is a major problem associated with relapse. Although more comfortable braces have been reported to improve the compliance, they all have the same design and no significant changes have been made to the protocols. After refinement in the Ponseti method and emphasizing the importance of brace to parents, the relapse rate has been markedly decreased. Nevertheless, there are patients who do not have any recurrence although they are not completely compliant with the brace treatment, whereas other patients have a recurrence even though they are strictly compliant with the brace treatment. The aim of this article is to review the relapse of clubfoot and the function of the brace and to develop an individualized brace protocol for each patient by analyzing the mechanism of the brace and the biomechanical properties of muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
