      • 알칼리형 연료전지에서의 산소극 제조

        알칼리형 연료전지(Alkaline fuel Cell, 이하 AFC)의 산소극에 사용되는 촉매를 은 염의 화학적 환원법으로 제조하였다. 그리고 최적의 전극 제조 조건을 찾기 위해 촉매의 loading량, 전극 소결 온도, PTFE함량 및 촉매 입자 크기 등이 전극의 분극특성에 미치는 영향들이 조사되었다. 연구결과에 의하면, 최적 조건은 전극 소결 온도 350℃, PTFE 함량 9wt%, 촉매의 입자크기 68㎛ 이하이었다. 한편 촉매 loading량이 증가함에 따라 전극 성능이 향상되었다. 최적의 제조 조건에서 제작된 전극은 개회로 전위 1.11V(vs. RHE),200㎷ 분극(전극전위 0.91V vs. RHE)시 전류밀도 약 0.4A/㎠,300㎷ 분극 (전극전위 0.81V vs. RHE)시 전류밀도 1.0A/㎠의 성능을 나타내었다. Doped silver catalyst used for oxygen electrode in alkaline fuel cells was prepared by reduction method of silver salt. And the effects of the silver catalyst loading, electrode sintering temperature, content of PTFE and particle size of the catalyst on the polarization characteristics of the oxygen electrodes were investigated to find the optimum preparation conditions of the electrodes. According to the results of this work, the optimum conditions were sintering temperature of 350℃, PTFE content of 9 wt% and below catalyst particle size of 68 ㎛. On the other hand, with increasing the catalyst loading, the electrode performance was improved. The electrode prepared at the optimum conditions showed open circuit potential of 1.11V(vs.RHE), current density of 0.4A/㎠ at a overpotential of 200㎷ and 1.0A/㎠ at a overpotential of 300㎷.

      • Flavobacterium meningosepticum에 의한 균혈증 1예

        1996년 6월 카톨릭대학교 부천성가병원에 뇌경색으로 입원했던 61세 남자 환자의 혈액에서 Flavobacterium meningosepticum을 분리하였다. 환자는 폐렴을 동반한 패혈증의 예로 ceftriaxone과 metronidazole을 투여하였으나 입원 48시간만에 사망하였다. Flabovacterium meningosepticum is a rae cause of nosocomial infection which shows multi-drug resistance. It mainly invades patients with impaired immunity. Recently, we experienced a case of F. meningosepticum bacteremia in a patient with chronic debilitated state owing to stroke. The clinical progress was so rapid that he died within 48 hours. Blood culture revealed F. meningosepticum which showed characteristic yellow colony in blood agar plate.

        Rhabdomyolysis may be defined as a clinical and laboratory syndrome which releases muscle cell contents into the plasma, such as creatine phosphokinase, due to skeletal muscle injuries. It can be the result of many diverse causes including muscle disease, ischemia, genetic disorder, metabolic disorder, infectious disease, drugs, comatose state, trauma or vigorous exercise that can lead to acute renal failure as a complication. Since first reported in 1941, rhabdomyolysis-induced acute renal failure has been documented many times, and the major causes of this disease are carbon monoxide poisoning, snake bites, and etc in Korea Reports of acute renal failure after exercise-related rhabdomyolysis with myoglobinemia are rare. We report a case of acute renal failure caused by exercise-related rhabdomyolysis in a 20 year old man.

      • 급성 출혈성 대장염으로 오인된 궤양성 대장염 1예

        Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the gastrointestinal tract that affects the large bowel, Its etiology remains controversial. However, an infectious or immunologic origin is considered the primary cause. The onset of UC is typically slow and insidious, but some patients may present acutely with symptoms mimicking infectious colitis. We report a case of ulcerative colitis mimicking acute hemorrhagic colitis at initial presentation. A 60-year-old man was referred to Yeungnam University Hospital for bloody diarrhea and abdominal pain. Sigmoidoscopy revealed mildly edematous mucosa in the rectum and hyperemic mucosa with petechiae in the sigmoid colon. The patient was treated with antibiotics for several days, and his symptoms improved. However, after one month, his bloody diarrhea relapsed. Follow-up sigmoidoscopy revealed mucosal friability in the rectum and sigmoid colon. He was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and his symptoms were improved with mesalazine and a steroid enema.

        The separation of rare earths minerals is verb difficult because of their similar chemical properties. The rare earth minerals are used as the mixed rare earth minerals or the misch metal without separation to each element. However, the high purity rare earths are recently produced commercially to each element so they there are used as the materials for high tech. Based on the characterization results for the raw minerals, we have developed a combined process containing gravity seperation, magnetic severation and flotation. The result obtained from this study is monazite concentration of TREO grade 69.11% and Recovery 56.02%.

      • 40X40 픽셀 어레이 CMOS 실리콘 망막칩의 설계 및 제조

        In this research, we have designed and fabricated a 40X40 pixel array retina chip which performs edge extraction by using CMOS standard process. The functions of photoreceptors, horizontal cells and bipolar cells have been implemented with semiconductor devices and circuits. In previous retina chips, spatial smoothing of input image has been implemented by resistive networks, which occupy a large chip area with a reduced area for effective photosensing due to a large number of required metal wires for interconnection. In this research, we have fabricated a retina chip which simplifies the wiring between pixels by using distributed-MOSFETs.

        Chronic neutrophilic leukemia is a very rare myeloproliferative disorder which is characterized by severe sustained mature neutrophilic leukocytosis in peripheral blood (PB), hepatosplenomegaly, elevated leukocyte alkaline phosphatase, serum uric acid. serun viatmin B 12 and the bleeding tendency despite normal platelet count and coagulation time, absence of philadelphia chromosome, and the absence of fever or underlying infection or disease sufficient to mimic a leukemoid reaction. We have experienced a 34-years-old male patient with atypical chronic neutrophilic leukemia. On admission, the leukocyte count was 56,860/uL. severe neutrophic leukocytosis with 76% neutrophils and rare immature forms on PB smear. Many neutrophils had toxic granules, and vacuoloes. Leukocyte alkaline phosphatase score was decreased. The cytogenetic study showed Philadelphia chromosome negative with normal karyotype.

        초음파 펄스에코 신호의 3차원 처리

        비파괴 시험을 위한 3차원 구조의 초음파 영상에는 다양한 결함을 명백하게 보여줄 수 있을 만큼 상세하고 쉽게 알아볼 수 있는 정보가 제공되어야 한다. 수년 동안 원자력 발전소에서 사용된 금속관에 발견되는 소규모의 균열은 전형적인 결함들인데, 이러한 밀리미터 이하의 균열이나 결함은 최종 3차원 영상에서 묘사되어야만 의미있는 검사가 될 것이다. 향상된 선명도와 그에 따른 결함의 발견 과정의 한 단계로써, 펄스에코(pulse-echo) 초음파를 사용한 3차원 영상제작 기술을 제안한다. 이 기술은 필요한 스캐닝과 펄스에코 데이터의 처리과정을 통한 검사로 3차원 물체의 3차원 영상을 생성하는데, 2차원 위너필터(Wiener filter)에 의해 초음파 빔을 선명하게 하는 기술을 포함한다. 제안하는 위너필터는 빔의 전달에서 펄스에코 데이터를 초음파 빔 방향의 수직방향에 따라 필터링한다. 이 3차윈 처리과정은 결함의 선명성을 증진시키고 사용자에게 3차윈 구조물의 좌우 회전 및 축 회전과 같은 조작 능력을 제공한다. 이러한 조작 능력은 3차원에서 다양한 결함들의 크기와 위치의 분명한 묘사를 가능하게 한다. Infrasonic imaging of 3-D structures for nondestructive evaluation must provide readily recognizable images with enough details to clearly show various flaws that may or may not be present. Typical flaws that need to be detected are miniature cracks, for instance, in metal pipes having aged over years of operation in nuclear power plants; and these sub-millimeter cracks or flaws must be depicted in the final 3-D image for a meaningful evaluation. As a step towards improving conspicuity and thus detection of flaws, we propose a pulse-echo ultrasonic imaging technique to generate various 3-D views of the 3-D object under evaluation through strategic scanning and processing of the pulse-echo data. We employ a 2-D Wiener filter that filters the pulse-echo data along the plane orthogonal to the beam propagation so that ultrasonic beams can be sharpened. This three-dimensional processing and display coupled with 3-D manipulation capabilities by which users are able to pan and rotate the 3-D structure improve conspicuity of flaws. Providing such manipulation operations allow a clear depiction of the size and the location of various flaws in 3-D.
