The surface diffusion coefficients for nickel, nickel oxide, cuppric oxide, cobalt oxide, alumina and ferric oxide have been determined at various temperatures using the sintering technique. This investigation is based on the model accounting for the sum of the contribution of volume and surface diffusion to the overall shrinkage rate during the initial stage of sintering. Simultaneous measurements of shrinkages and shrinkage rates of the materials compacts were conducted for various annealing times, the results of which were then correlated to the diffusion coefficient.

톨루엔의 메탄올에 의한 측쇄알킬화반응에 미치는 메탄올분해반응의 영향을 검토하기 위하여, 붕소가 첨가된 또는 첨가되지 않은 알칼리금속으로 이온교환된 제올라이트X 촉매에서 메탄올분해반응을 수행하였다. �루엔의 측쇄알킬화반응에서 true alkylatin agent로 작용하는 것으로 알려진 포름알데히드의 수율은 교환된 알칼리 양이온의 이온반경이 증가함에 따라 감소하였으나, 붕소의 첨가에 의해서는 겨의 변화가 없었다. 붕소는 생성된 포름알데히드가 일산화탄소로 더 분해되는 과정을 억제하는 역할을 하는 것으로 추측된다. 결론적으로, 알칼리 양이온 교환 제올라이트 X에서의 스타이렌 수율증대는 메탄올분해반응성보다는 톨루엔의 흡착상태에 더 깊은 관련이 있을 것으로 사려된다. In order to investigate the role of methanol-decomposition in the side-chain alkylation of toluene with methanol, methanol-decomposition was carried out on alkali-ion exchanged zeolites X with or without boron. Yield of formaldehyde which has been known as a true alkylating reagent in the side-chain alkylation was decreased with increase of radius of cation exchanged, but seemed to be independent on the presence of boron. It was characteristic that boron led to suppress the further decomposition of formaldehyde to carbon monoxide. According to these results, it was suggested that the increase of styrene-yield on the alkali-ion exchanged zeolites X was mainly influenced by the adsorption configuration of toluene rather than the yield of formaldehyde.
