Background/Aims: This study was conducted to identify microRNAs (miRNAs) that are differentially expressed in Helicobacter pylori-infected patients with an intestinal type of gastric cancer using miRNA microarray and to confirm the candidate miRNA expression levels. Methods: Total RNA was extracted from the cancerous and noncancerous regions of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues of H. pylori-positive (n=8) or H. pylori-negative (n=8) patients with an intestinal type of gastric cancer. RNA expression was analyzed using a 3,523 miRNA profiling microarray based on the Sanger miRBase. Validation analysis was performed using TaqMan miRNA assays. Results: A total of 219 miRNAs in the aberrant miRNA profiles across the miRNA microarray showed at least a 2-fold change differential expression in H. pylori-positive and H. pylori-negative cancer tissues. After candidate miRNAs were selected using online miRNA databases, TaqMan miRNA assays confirmed that three miRNAs (miR-99b-3p, miR-564, and miR-638) were significantly increased in three H. pylori-positive cancer tissues compared to the H. pylori-negative cancer tissues. Additionally, four miRNAs (miR-204-5p, miR-338-5p, miR-375, and miR-548c-3p) were significantly increased in H. pylori-negative cancer tissues compared to H. pylori-positive cancer tissues. Conclusions: miRNA expression in the intestinal type of H. pylori infection-dependent gastric cancer suggests that different gastric cancer pathogenesis mechanisms could exist between H. pylori-positive and H. pylori-negative gastric cancer. Additional functional studies are required. (Gut Liver, 2015;9:188-196)
Development of Fast Protection System and Slow Interlock System in the RAON Accelerator
Hyunchang Jin,Yongjun Choi 한국물리학회 2020 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.76 No.7
The RAON accelerator has been constructed to generate and accelerate stable and rare isotope beams for various kinds of science programs by the rare isotope science project (RISP) in Daejeon, Korea since 2011. The beam created by an ion source will be accelerated by the superconducting linear accelerator up to the experimental target in the RAON accelerator. During the acceleration and the transportation of the beam, the sudden loss of the beam with high energy and power can be occurred by a device interlock or a beam distortion, and it leads to serious damages of the accelerator equipment. Therefore, we are developing the machine protection system to protect the accelerator during the beam operation. For efficient protection, the machine protection system includes the FPGA-based fast protection system and the PLC-based slow interlock system depending on the response time to interlock signals and device types. The prototypes of both systems were successfully developed and tested at the RISP test facility, and the products are under development based on the results of the prototypes from late 2017. In this paper, we will describe the current development status of the fast protection system and the slow interlock system in the RAON accelerator and present the future plans.
Overhead impact in Multipath Routing for Mobile Ad Hoc Network using IEEE 802.11 DCF
Hyunchang Kim,Jaiyong Lee 대한전자공학회 2008 ICEIC:International Conference on Electronics, Inf Vol.1 No.1
Multipath routing protocols provide improved throughput and route resilience as compared with singlepath routing protocols. However, multipath routing mechanism has not been explored thoroughly in the domain of mobile ad hoc network for overhead and complexity. In this paper, we analyze and compare on-demand singlepath and multipath routing with IEEE 802.11 DCF in mobile ad hoc network, in terms of Routing overhead and MAC overhead. The results reveals that in comparison with singlepath routing protocol, multipath routing mechanism creates more overheads but provides better performance in congestion and capacity provided that the route length is within a certain upper bound which is derivable. The analytical results are further confirmed by simulation.
Start-to-end Simulation with Rare Isotope Beam for Post Accelerator of the RAON Accelerator
Hyunchang Jin,Ji-Ho Jang 한국물리학회 2016 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.69 No.6
The RAON accelerator for the Rare Isotope Science Project (RISP) has been developed to create and accelerate various kinds of stable heavy ion beams and rare isotope beams for a wide range of science applications. In the RAON accelerator, the rare isotope beams generated by the Isotope Separation On-Line (ISOL) system will be transported through the post accelerator, namely, from the post Low Energy Beam Transport (LEBT) system and the post Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) to the superconducting linac (SCL3). The accelerated beams will be put to use in the low energy experimental hall or accelerated again by the superconducting linac (SCL2) in order to be used in the high energy experimental hall. In this paper, we will describe the results of the start-toend simulations with the rare isotope beams generated by the ISOL system in the post accelerator of the RAON accelerator. In addition, the error analysis and correction at the superconducting linac SCL3 will be presented.
Hyunchang Jin,Yongjun Choi,Sang-il LEE,Hyojae Jang 한국물리학회 2018 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.73 No.8
The RISP (Rare Isotope Science Project) in Korea has been building the RAON accelerator that generates and accelerates a wide range of stable ions and rare isotopes for scientific experiments in various fields. For the beams produced by the ion generators like ECR-IS and ISOL in the RAON accelerator, the beam energy reaches 200 MeV/u after passing through the high energy supercon- ducting linear accelerator, and the beam power approaches 400 kW. During the transportation and the acceleration of this kind of beam, the beam loss can lead to the significant damage of the accelerator equipment. For that reason, the fast protection system is required to take mitigating action due to such severe damage occurring within a few tens of microseconds. For the development of this fast protection system in the RAON accelerator, the fast protection system prototype based on an FPGA platform has been developed as a priority, and the prototype test is in progress. Here we will present the development of the RAON fast protection system prototype and describe the configuration of the prototype and the interlock test results.
A design of mobility metric using 3-waypoint in mobile ad hoc networks
Hyunchang Kim,Jaiyoung Lee 대한전자공학회 2007 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2007 No.7
The mobility metric is intended to capture and quantify the motion of mobile nodes. It is an important value to be considered in order to select a proper clusterhead for clustering. In this paper, we propose a mobility metric that is based on an area value which is evaluated by 3-waypoint for MANET. The waypoint is a collection of places where mobile nodes change in a course while they are on a long journey. In order to know the mobility metric, we calculate an area of a triangle with the sequenced waypoint of three and can estimate how far mobility of the mobile nodes is. This mobility metric is a combination of the velocity, direction and distance component of mobile nodes. Therefore, we believe in using the mobility metric results in a more stable configuration.

Beam Loss Studies at the High Energy Beamlines of the RAON Accelerator
Jin Hyunchang,Jang Ji-Ho,Jeon Dong-O. 한국물리학회 2020 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.77 No.5
The RAON accelerator is currently under construction to generate and accelerate stable ions and rare isotopes for various kinds of scientific programs, and it will be completed by the end of 2021. In the RAON accelerator, the beams generated by using ion sources such as electron cyclotron resonance ion source and isotope separation on-line can be used in high energy experiments such as a beam irradiation system and a muon spin rotation/relaxation/resonance system after having been accelerated by low energy and high energy superconducting linacs. After the high energy superconducting linac, the beam passes through the high energy beamline and then collides with the target. In 2015, the lattices of the high energy beamlines were designed achromatically to minimize the emittance growth. However, as the specification of magnets in the beamline was changed after first lattice design, a beam dynamics simulation has been performed newly, and beam loss studies have also been conducted. Here, we will present the simulation results for the beam dynamics and describe the beam loss studies performed on the high energy beamlines of the RAON accelerator.
