Cu^(2+) -nalidixate 또는 Cu^(2+) -pipemidate 시스템을 H_2O_2 및 아스코르빈산 존재하 방사능-표지된 DNA와 함께 37℃에서 배양시키므로써 산-용해성 분해산물들이 생성되었다. 본성 DNA 대신 변성 DNA를 기질로 쓸 경우 금속-drug 시스템의 DNA 절단활성은 현저하게 감소되었다. 또한 본성 DNA에 대한 절단활성은 DNA에의 전형적 intercalator이며 metalloquinolones의 DNA에의 결합에 대한 경쟁적 방해제가 될 수 있는 ethidium bromide에 의하여 저하되었다. Quinolone 항생제가 금속이온과의 킬레이트 복합체 형성을 통하여 DNA의 두가닥 나사선 염기쌍 사이에의 삽간결합(intercalation)을 할 수 있으며 이와 같은 결합을 이룬 금속복합체는 DNA 가닥에 대한 산화성 절단활성을 가질 수 있음을 시사한다. Incubation of Cu^(2+)-nalidixate or Cu^(2+)-pipemidate system with DNA at 37℃ in the presence of H_2O_2 and ascorbic acid resulted in the production of acid-soluble counts from dadioactively labeled DNA. With denatured DNA as substrate, the cleavage activity of the metalloquinolone systems was far less than with the native DNA. The DNA cleavage activity of metalloquinolones was also decreased by the addition of ethidium bromide, which was known to be a typical intercalator of DNA and was shown to be a competitive inhibitor for the metalloquinolone binding to DNA. The data here suggest the DNA cleavage activity of quinolone antibiotics intercalated into DNA as metal chelate complexes.

In general, the structural responses of civil engineering structures such as bridges, power plants and large facility structures can not be completely measured at all D.O.F.'s. This incomplete measurement problem is one of the major reasons about the difficulty of the inverse problem such as system identification for the safety assessment, particularly in time domain. In this paper, two methods are presented to assess the changes of structural system using the incomplete measurements data in time domain. One of them is model parameter estimation technique to evaluate the model parameter changes in time domain. The other is a substructural identification method for the local damage assessment in interest. Using the subtructural methods, the number of unknown parameters for each identification can be significantly reduced, hence the convergence and accuracy of estimation can be improved. For the local damage assessment, the indirect estimation procedure was also applied to evaluate the damage index. To demonstrate the model parameters estimation technique in time domain, experimental results of 2-bay 3-store frame structure were used. For the verification of substructural identification method and the indirect local damage estimation procedures, several simulation and experimental example analyses were carried out for structural models of a 2-span truss structure and 3-story building model. The results indicate that the present modal parameter estimation technique and substructural identification method including damage estimation methods are effective and efficient for the detection of the modal parameter changes and local damage estimation of complex structures in time domain.
Transition-Metal-Mediated Cytotoxicity of Quinolones to L1210 Cells

Transition metals tested, $Cu^{2+}$, and $Ni^{2+}$, were found effective in the induction of the cytotoxicity of the quinolones tested, nalidixic acid, oxolinic acid, and pipemidic acid, against L1210 leukemia cells in vitro, whereas the alkaline earth metal, $Mg^{2+}$, was not. The differential effect of the metals on the quinolone cytotoxicity can be explained by their different mode of interaction with the quinolones. Our present difference spectroscopic titration data suggest that the transition metals can form DNA-intercalating agents, with the quinolones, which can cause the cytotoxicity.

<P><B>Purpose</B></P><P>We investigated the clinical outcomes of deceased donor kidney transplantation (KT) using kidneys with terminal acute kidney injury (AKI).</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Between February 2000 and December 2013, we performed 202 deceased donor renal transplants from 159 brain dead donors. According to the expanded criteria donor (ECD) and AKI network criteria, we divided 202 recipients into 4 groups: Group I: Non-AKI & standard criteria donor (SCD) (n = 97); group II: Non-AKI & ECD (n = 15); group III: AKI & SCD (n = 52); and group IV: AKI & ECD (n = 38).</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The incidence of delayed graft function (DFG) was significantly higher in patients with AKI than it was in the non-AKI group (P = 0.008). There were no significant differences among the 4 groups in graft survival (P = 0.074) or patient survival (P = 0.090). However, the long-term allograft survival rate was significantly lower in group IV than it was in other groups (P = 0.024).</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Allografts from deceased donors with terminal AKI had a higher incidence of DGF than did those from donors without AKI. However, there is no significant difference in graft and patient survival rates among the groups. So, the utilization of renal grafts from ECDs with terminal AKI is a feasible approach to address the critical organ shortage.</P>

Medication Injection Safety Knowledge and Practices among Health Service Providers in Korea

Purpose: Outbreaks resulting from medication injections have recently been on the rise in Korea despite various established guidelines. The objective of this study was to assess the degree to which healthcare professionals are aware of safe injection practice guidelines and to account for the adherence to and the deviation from safe injection guidelines formulated by healthcare providers. Methods: In November 2016, a cross-sectional anonymous questionnaire covering general characteristics of injections, patient safety culture, awareness of safe injection practices, and adherence to and barriers to safe injection guidelines was issued to healthcare providers who administer medication injections or manage and supervise these injections (N=550). Multivariate logistic regression analysis via enter method was performed to define the influencing factors of adherence of safe injection practices. Results: On average, respondents adhere to 17 of the 24 guidelines. Multivariate logistic regression found that those who were more likely to adhere to safe injection guidelines either underwent a patient safety training experience within the last year, provided care in a setting characterized by a highly developed patient safety culture, or were employed as physicians or nurses, as opposed to some other type of care provider. Barriers to safe injection guidelines were attributable to; thoughts of waste to discard leftover medicine, provisions that made adherence cumbersome, a weak culture of compliance, and insufficient amounts of injectable medicine, products, and education. Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that controllable factors like training experience of healthcare providers and patient safety culture were positively associated with adherence to safe injection practices. It was suggested that the training of healthcare providers on safe injection practices be a continuous process to promote patient safety. Additionally, there should be an increased focus on developing and implementing policies to improve patient safety culture from a prevention rather than post-management perspective.
Modeling the non-elastic stretch deformation of cloth based on creep analysis

<P>This work proposes a method to model the non-elastic components in the fabric stretch deformation in the context of physically based fabric simulator. This paper finds that the above problem can be made tractable if we decompose the stretch deformation into the immediate elastic, viscoelastic, and plastic components. A non-trivial job is the decomposition of the deformation itself. For the purpose of the simulator development, the decomposition must be possible at any stage of deformation and any occurrence of loading and unloading. Based on the observations of various constant force creep measurements, this paper makes an assumption that, within a particular fabric, the viscoelastic and plastic components are proportional to each other and their ratio is invariant over time. Experimental results produced with the proposed method match with general expectations, and show that the method can represent the non-elastic stretch deformation for arbitrary time-varying force.</P>
전기차 사용 후 배터리 잔존가치 평가방법 개선 시험 연구

전기차 사용 후 배터리 산업 활성화를 위해 배터리 잔존가치평가 시간 단축 등 평가 방법의 개선이 필요하다. 완전충방전을 주로 하는 용량시험의 실측 데이터를 중심으로 잔존가치평가 측정방법 개선을 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 배터리 용량 10% 부분방전 시험 결과 완전충방전 시험과의 오차율이2% 내로 산출되어 활용 가능함을 확인하였다. 배터리 검사 공정 소요 시간의 기존 대비 약 70%의 단축 효과를 보였다. 전기차 사용 후 배터리 잔존가치 평가 공정시간 단축으로 재사용 배터리 산업 경쟁력 확보에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
