SLE 환자에서 간 효소 수치의 상승은 여러 가지 원인에 의하여 드물지 않게 관찰될 수 있다. 이 중 자가 면역 기전에 의해 발생되는 질환으로 자가 면역성 간염과 SLE에 동반된 간염이 있으며, 두 가지 질환의 감별은 환자의 예후 및 치료에 중요하다. 따라서 간 조직 검사를 포함한 정확한 진단 기준으로 조기에 진단하여야 하며, 이에 따른 적절한 치료를 통해서 간 부전 및 비가역적 간경변증으로 진행을 방지할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) have a 25-50% chance of developing abnormal liver tests in their lifetime and various causes are related to elevation of liver enzyme, such as hepatic involvement of lupus, hepatotoxic drug, viral infection, autoimmune hepatitis and so on. Discrimination of autoimmune hepatitis from SLE-associated hepatitis is important because complications and therapy are quite different, although both are autoimmune syndromes. Here we are presenting a case of SLE patient with type I autoimmune hepatitis proved with liver biopsy.

4H-SiC planar MESFETs were fabricated using ion-implantation on semi-insulating substrate without recess gate etching. A modified RCA method was used to clean the substrate before each procedure. A thin, thermal oxide layer was grown to passivate the surface and then a thick field oxide was deposited by CVD. The fabricated MESFET showed good contact properties and DC/RF performances. The maximum oscillation frequency of 34 GHz and the cut-off frequency of 9.3 GHz were obtained. The power gain was 10.1 dB and the output power of 1.4 W was obtained for 1 mm-gate length device at 2 GHz. The fabricated MESFETs showed the charge trapping-free characteristics and were characterized by the extracted small-signal equivalent circuit parameters.

Objective: To compare core needle biopsy (CNB) and repeat fine-needle aspiration (rFNA) to reduce the rate of diagnostic surgery and prevent unnecessary surgery in nodules initially diagnosed as atypia/follicular lesions of undetermined significance (AUS/FLUS). Materials and Methods: This study included 231 consecutive patients (150 female and 81 male; mean age ± standard deviation, 51.9 ± 11.7 years) with 235 thyroid nodules (≥ 1 cm) initially diagnosed as AUS/FLUS, who later underwent both rFNA and CNB. The nodules that required diagnostic surgery after the biopsy were defined using three different scenarios according to the rFNA and CNB results: criterion 1, surgery for low-risk indeterminate (categories I and III); criterion 2, surgery for high-risk indeterminate (categories IV and V); and criterion 3, surgery for all indeterminate nodules (categories I, III, IV, and V). We compared the expected rates of diagnostic surgery between CNB and rFNA in all 235 nodules using the three surgical criteria. In addition, the expected rates of unnecessary surgery (i.e., surgery for benign pathology) were compared in a subgroup of 182 nodules with available final diagnoses. Results: CNB showed significantly lower rates of nondiagnostic, AUS/FLUS, and suspicious for malignancy diagnoses (p ≤ 0.016) and higher rates of follicular neoplasm or suspicious for a follicular neoplasm (p < 0.001) and malignant diagnoses (p = 0.031). CNB showed a significantly lower expected rate of diagnostic surgery than rFNA for criterion 1 (29.8% vs. 48.1%, p < 0.001) and criterion 3 (46.4% vs. 55.3%, p = 0.029), and a significantly higher rate for criterion 2 (16.6% vs. 7.2%, p = 0.001). CNB showed a significantly lower expected rate of unnecessary surgery than rFNA for criterion 1 (18.7% vs. 29.7%, p = 0.024). Conclusion: CNB was superior to rFNA in reducing the rates of potential diagnostic surgery and unnecessary surgery for nodules initially diagnosed as AUS/FLUS in a scenario where nodules with low-risk indeterminate results (categories I and III) would undergo surgery.

Alzheimer"s disease (AD) is one of the most neurodegenerative disorders with severe cognitive impairments such as memory loss. In the region of cortex and hippocampus of AD patients, aggregation of misfolded amyloid-beta (Aβ) and hyperphosphorylated tau proteins are frequently observed. These abnormalities are well known as classical hallmarks of AD and are considered as main targets for AD treatments. In this study, we report that the fucoxanthin extracted microalgae Phaeodactylum tricornutum have potential effects for AD treatments. Fucoxanthin prevented the aggregation of both A β and hyperphosphorylated tau, specifically decreasing the levels of oligomeric forms of them. It is also showed that pre-aggregated Aβ and tau proteins were dramatically dissolved by treatment of fucoxanthin. Moreover, intravenous injection of fucoxanthin significantly reduced the levels of Aβ plaques and hyperphosphorylated tau in the cortex and hippocampus regions of AD transgenic mouse brains (APP/PS1 double-transgenic mice). Fucoxanthin also lowered the level of Aβ in the blood plasma and CSF of APP/PS1 transgenic mice model. Furthermore, we indicated the docking models of fucoxanthin on the aggregation of the amyloid proteins. Thus, our results showing multiple effects of fucoxanthin extracted from microalgae Phaeodactylum tricornutum against AD pathologies provide that fucoxanthin would have promising roles on both strategies of AD prevention and treatments.

<P>The dual-phase membrane has received much attention as the solution to the instability of the oxygen permeation. Membrane. It has been reported that the oxygen flux of the dual-phase membrane is greatly enhanced by the active coating layer. However, there has been little discussion about the enhancement mechanism by surface coating in the dual-phase membrane: This study investigates the oxygen flux of the Ce0.9Gd0.1O2-delta-La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 +/-delta, (GDC 80 vol %/LSM 20 vol %) composite, membrane depending on the oxygen partial pressure (P-O2) to elucidate the mechanism of enhanced oxygen flux by the surface,modification in. the fluorite-rich phase dual-phase membrane. The oxygen permeation resistances were obtained from the oxygen flux as a function of P-O2 using the oxygen permeation model. The Surface exchange coefficient (k) and the bulk diffusion coefficient (D) were calculated from these, resistances. According to the calculated k and D values, we concluded that the active coating layer (La0.6Sr0.4CoO3-delta) significantly increased. he k value of the membrane. Furthermore, the surface exchange reaction on the permeate side was more sluggish than that at the feed side under Operating conditions (feed: 0.21 atm/permeate side: 4.7 x 10(-4) atm). Therefore, the enhancement of the oxygen surface exchange kinetics at the permeate side is more important in, improving the oxygen permeation flux of the thin film-based fluorite-rich dual-phase membrane. These results provide new insight about the function of the surface coating to enhance the oxygen permeation flux of the dual-phase membrane.</P>

DNA 자동합성기를 이용하여 올리고뉴클레오타이드들을 합성하였으며 이로부터 인간 인터루킨-2를 코드하는 유전자를 제조하였다. 합성 유전자의 염기서열은 대장균에서 사용빈도가 높은 코돈을 고려하여 결정하였으며, 이때 인터루킨-2의 아미노산 서열은 변화시키지 않았다. 합성된 유전자는 람다 피엘 프로모터를 사용하여 대장균에서 발현시켰다. 인터루킨-2는 대장균내에서 불용성의 침전물로 생성되었다. 생성된 인터루킨-2는 인터루킨-2 요구 배양세포주의 성장을 촉진하였다. A synthetic gene coding for human interleukin-2(IL-2) was constructed from the oligonucleotides synthesized by an automatic DNA synthesizer. The nucleotide sequence of the synthetic gene was chosen considering the preferred codons of E. coli by not changing the amino acid sequence of IL-2 polypeptide. The synthetic gene was expressed in E. coli by placing the gene under the control of the λ P_l. promoter. IL-2 was produced in the E. coli cytoplasm in the form of inclusion bodies. The recombinant IL-2 showed growth promoting activity on the IL-2 dependent cell line.
